Super Hero Halloween!

So we Todd's manage to learn from our experiences from time to time. Last year we went OVERBOARD on the decorating and the food and the costumes and we vowed to change it up for this year. Although it WAS themed, we stuck to our guns and denied every Female Todd impulse to out do ourselves. And what do you know, best Halloween yet! Ava was diamond girl (emma frost before her evil temptress days), Aaron was wolverine (yes, overcoarse he had chops...I might have misplaced his razor for three weeks which he was very suspecious of), Fiona was the cutest little kitten there ever was, and I was the Phoenix (alter ego: Jean Gray). All X men characters, except baby Fi who daddy insisted on being something adorable and fluffy. Luckily for us there were two parties to attend and even though the rest of us got to use our costumes twice, Ava had thrashed her orginal costume and had to dress up as a fairy on actual Halloween (last years costume)...oh well!
Trying to get Aaron to give me some angry emotion I told him someone killed his dog (Anyone ever seen The Man Who Knew too Little? Hilarious) It didnt work though. He actually looks like he's gonna cry...poor TR
I'll try that again..."Someone just stole your wallet" Perfect!
Upset that Trunk or Treat was cleaned out, Ava's devastated!

Labor Day Holiday...Literally

Last weekend we got a call that our sister in law was having her baby a couple of weeks earlier than anticipated. Sooo...we hopped in the car and took off to Birmingham to see the Derrik Marshall clan and it's newest member, Gavin Taft Marshall...SOOOOOO CUTE and little and sweet! We stayed all weekend and had an absolute blast doing nothing but swim, eat, sleep, and hold that adorable little boy. (And maybe a little cooking for the new parents too) We had to exile Ava because she had the sniffles..."Sorry Ava!" Although she was bummed because she couldn't hold the baby (YIKES!), she was even more upset that she couldn't play with "Unca Dessik" (translation: Uncle Derrik).
This trip held a lot of firsts for us. Ava learned how to swim solo for the first time (and she was an absolute mad women demanding that we not put our hands out for her), Fiona's first time in the swimming pool (not planned...She is actually wearing one of Ava's swimming suits that we coerced into staying on her...so luscious, look at those thighs!) and first time to Birmingham (Although definitely not the last...can't stay away from that cute little Gavin). We are thrilled to have Derrik and Cyd so close now and already have plans to harness our inner Ricky Bobby at the Talladega Superspeedway. Caution all Utah friends and family, risk of turning redneck is extremely high!
All in all, Great Labor Day holiday!...get it, "labor" day.

Fiona Violet Marshall

Boy do I love this tenacious little thing! She decided to come rush order (3 HOURS!!!)And by an hour into it, I could feel her push like crazy against every contraction...ouch! I was trying to stay calm so much so that I couldn't even speak for fear that if I talked or moved unnecessarily I would lose all control. You see I have this crazy notion to have all our children un-medicated so control is key. Needless to say, I definitely doubted that plan at about this time. Aaron decides it’s time to go to the hospital at hour two and it’s a good thing cause by the time we pulled into the parking lot I was pushing uncontrollably. They rushed me into my room and checked me..."She's complete!" The charge nurse yelled as she hurried out to gather more help. Just then my water breaks and Aaron's eyes get REAL big because we are alone at this point. He runs to the door panicked and yells for them to step on it and when he turns back around he could see little Fi's head. A minute later she was in my arms, cute as could be! The staff was really amazing even though it seemed liked everything was in slow motion at the time. I have to give em props for how quickly they got it together (I guess they’re used to that kind of thing around there though).
So she is two months old now and loves to smile anytime we grin at her. She is such a little lover! Big sister ADORES her and has so from the beginning. Ava (2 1/2) loves to help when she can by getting us diapers and wipes or by just putting the binky in her mouth when she's crying. Whenever she does these things she always gets a huge smile on her face and says something like "Momma, I put da binty in da baby!" Sometimes she even takes the binky out just to take credit for making baby happy again. What a cracker! We love our little girls and couldn't be happier with our family of four! Ok, maybe we could be happier, but not for at least another 3 more years and you can quote me on that.

Red Carpet Halloween
If any of you know our family you know that the Todd's don't do anything halfway (much to our determent)...especially the Todd Women. Well in true Todd fashion for this year’s Halloween party we decided to do a Red Carpet Event. Basically everyone dressed up as celebrities. My sister Liz takes the cake for making the Bjork swan outfit from scratch. Holy Cow, It looked amazing! Gwen Stefani graced the carpet with her new husband Bret Michaels and their little fairy in arms (Aaron, Ava, and I). All of Gennie's family (Robert's wife who was dressed as Paramore) thought I was Lady Gaga which about made me yank off that wig a few times and burn it. Cyndi Lauper also made an unforgettable appearance with her Lego Rock band/Paparazzi/Hannah Montana posse looking fabulous! It was a lot of fun but next year I think I will let another family put on the celebrations...Phew, I am still recovering!
P.S. On other news the ultrasound is set in a couple of weeks!!! I will be sure to post the news. Any bets? My family is about 50/50 right now.
