Snuggles and Movies

This is what most of the day looked like for the boy and me. I woke up this morning feeling AWFUL and since Brandon was working a long day (13+ hours), I knew with not feeling well it was going to make for an extra long day. Beauster had been coughing a bunch and was extra irritable so after we got back from the grocery store (to get ingredients for two soups I'm making big batches of for this week - Chicken Tortilla and Creamy Chicken and Rice), we ate lunch and then settled in to watch some Backyardigans. He didn't put up a fight at the idea at all, just climbed up onto the couch with me, grabbed his juice, and cuddled under the blanket with me. Cuddling with this guy is some of the best medicine ever! I'm hoping to get some good rest tonight, eat some good healthy soup tomorrow (I can smell the Tortilla soup aroma from the kitchen now!), and recoup. It's almost February, new month, hopefully new chance to get this sickness outta here!

Peek-a-boo!

Whew! We had a LONG night! Beau got up somewhere between 3 and 4 this morning having a horrible nightmare which turned into a coughing fit and decided it sounded like a good idea to stay up! So Mom and Dad came into the living room, got him something to drink, put in Toy Story, and Mom rocked him. Needless to say, between the coughing and not sleeping at all, Mom and Beau didn't make it to church. I'm so ready for this sickness to be gone so we can get back into going, I think we've missed the last two of three weeks due to illness! After getting in a little nap after a very long morning, Beau decided to play peek-a-boo with Mom.Whenever he sees the camera, he says "Cheese!"...you don't think this child gets his picture taken much, now do you? Enjoy this boy and pray this sickness leaves our house soon!

The Gang's All Here

What's a movie experience without all your very best friends there? So of course we have both of Beau's most favorite bears, his Woody, and of course, his Buzz. With a blanket, pillow, and some juice, how can you go wrong?

When Brandon got home from work today, Beau ran outside to meet him and immediately wanted in the car. Not to ride, no, to drive! So Brandon got in the passenger seat and Beau "drove". He even wanted his "mus-kick" (music) on!

20 Months (a day late)

Yesterday Beau Elias turned 20 months old! Here's some thing I want to remember about him at this age:

• You're talking so much! You're starting to put 2 and even occasionally 3 words together. I'd venture to guess you can say 30-40 different words,
• You're saying our prayers at meals. Daddy or Mommy will start and will repeat us and finish off with a BIG "Amen!" We LOVE it!
• You wear between 12 to 18 month clothes just depending on the brand.
• You weigh 22.2 lbs and are 30.5 in tall
• You sleep about 10-10.5 hrs at night, but you rarely fully sleep the whole time. I think your dad and I have accepted that you're just gonna be our non-sleeper baby. And that's ok. 
• You take one 1.5 hr nap a day on average
• You LOVE Buzz and Elmo!
• You're starting to test boundaries more, which means you're having to be disciplined more. I know this is an unavoidable and necessary time in training with you, but it sure is hard!
• You love music!
• You're becoming much more social. Your Bible class teacher just told us a couple weeks ago that you suddenly just came out of your shell - we love that you're showing everyone else what we see all the time

Being Sick is No Fun!

 Tuesday evening Beau started running fever over 102. We were surprised since he has already been on strep antibiotics for 5 days and figured we were over this! Wednesday came and the fever stayed with the addition of diarrhea. We were thinking maybe we just needed to finish the antibiotic and maybe he'd perk up. He was getting up almost every hour at night all week coughing and was coughing throughout the day. By Thursday morning he looked so awful I was thinking maybe we needed to go back to the doctor. When he threw up all over me a little bit later, I called Brandon and we made the choice to take him in. It was a good thing we did! The doctor tested him for strep and flu and while thankfully the flu test came back negative, the strep came back positive. Doc told us Beau's body had apparently not taken to the antibiotic so his body had had all that time to let the strep fester. In addition he also had an ear infection, poor guy! So they gave him a big shot for the strep, a week's work of a different antibiotic for the ear infection and a cough syrup. He spent a lot of the day crying and sleeping; it's been a sad day around here. But, now that we have the right meds we're expecting a quick recovery to the boy's old self! (I'll do his 20 month stat tomorrow)

Outside Play, Outside Bear

 The boy went outside to play in the yard for a bit today. After being couped up in the house from a case of strep, he was itching to get out. So, after bundling him up in his coat and super fun bear hat, we headed out!

Major Big Boy Haircut!

 Today was the day of Beau's big haircut. We had given him a trim in the past, but it had gotten far too uneven and the back was tangling far too easy. So, sadly, this momma made the call to get his hair cut. I made sure to bring some M&Ms to make the experience smoother...and boy did it! I held him for it, so I didn't get any pictures of the actual hair cut, but here are some befores and afters.

Park Time!

It was still a little cold and windy today, but we bundled up and braved it to spend a little time together at the park. Beau had so much fun running around chasing ducks!
