This is where we find Noah every morning. I love that being by his brother’s side is all he needs to make it through a scary night.
dillard’s new year’s day sale
Posted: January 1, 2013 Filed under: daily life, Uncategorized Leave a commentQuite possibly my favorite sale of the year.
A glance at this year’s loot (minus the two shirts the boys are currently wearing):
*4 pairs Nike tennis shoes (Love finding a good deal and shopping ahead for tennis shoes! They aren’t seasonal and the boys each wear through at least 3 pairs per year. Ridiculous. We are fully stocked now.)
*Two shirts for me (that’s all I got). 😦
*4 Nike K-State jerseys, #7 for Collin 🙂 (Two for Jacob & Noah and 2 for b-day gifts for my nephews.)
*1 Nike tee
*1 Nike dry fit shirt
*2 Under Armour tees
*2 Adidas dry fit tees
*4 pairs pajama pants
Retail: $671, Actual purchase price: $230
Two lucky boys in our house made out like bandits.
fantasy
Posted: April 12, 2012 Filed under: jacob, Uncategorized Leave a commentDuring our bedtime conversation, I discovered that deep down inside, Jacob thought Hogwarts just might be real and that he just might be getting a letter and an owl in two years. He then shared that he read “…inside Rowling’s fantasy world…” inside the cover of the 5th book and it killed all hope of this being real. To quote him, “It’s like my heart was doing swan dives into the pool, and then reading that changed its trajectory and made it crash into the lifeguard chair.”
Sigh.
Makes me smile and breaks my heart at the same time.
Noosa
Posted: January 25, 2012 Filed under: daily life, Uncategorized 3 CommentsI cannot get enough of this stuff.
Seriously…I can’t believe it’s even in the yogurt category. Its should be in a class all its own.
There are no words to describe its creamy yumminess.
I’m in love.
just whistle while you work
Posted: January 8, 2012 Filed under: noah, Uncategorized 1 CommentWhistling.
This has been a goal of Noah’s… for months and months and months. After hours of frustration, he’s finally getting it.
This is a pretty big deal for a 6-yr-old with a left facial palsy.
I’ve never heard a more beautiful whistle.
a letter from noah
Posted: February 14, 2011 Filed under: noah, Uncategorized Leave a commentIt’s a bit hard to see, so here are his exact words:
Dear Mom,
Ieme hapee that you ar My mom and You mayke my Hart hapee.
You make my heart happy, too, Noah.
dear Gap,
Posted: August 8, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized 1 CommentDear Gap,
While I’ll wholeheartedly appreciate your thoughtfulness, I do believe it’s time for me to stop receiving coupons such as these:
With your recent sales and my love for Piperlime, I need to start focusing on buying only things the boys and I need. (In my defense…I really did need these purple flats since I have no other purple shoes.) These types of coupons make it very difficult for me to do this.
Thanks for your consideration.
Your Loyal Customer,
Carrie
P.S. See you on Saturday.
Schlitterbahn vs. Oceans of Fun
Posted: July 30, 2010 Filed under: Uncategorized, vacation 3 CommentsA couple weeks ago the boys and I headed to KC for the annual Kimbrough Oceans of Fun Trip (we have been going for at least 20 years I think…). After much deliberation, we agreed to try Schlitterbahn. Though it was a fun day and it had its perks, we will be going back to Oceans of Fun next year.
I don’t proclaim to be a professional waterpark critic, but here’s what I can tell you:
Schlitterbahn Pros:
- cooled cement
- picnics and coolers welcome
- no height requirement on rides
- double-seated tubes with lining on one side (so kids can sit and not fall through the holes)
- free parking
- free tubes (no rental fees)
Schlitterbahn cons:
- no height requirement=less thrilling rides
- fewer attractions
- no large pool/swimming area
Oceans of Fun Pros:
- many more attractions (wave pool, additional large pool with climbing toys and slides, 3 large slides, etc. We missed Paradise Falls the most.)
- height requirements=slides that are longer, more intense, and overall a lot more fun
Oceans of Fun Cons:
- tube rental fee; however, this isn’t a big deal to us because we rarely rent tubes. We prefer to put on a life jacket and float around the lazy river that way – so we are actually IN the water. People laugh at us because they assume no one in our extended family can swim. If only they knew our little secret and the fun they’re missing out on…
- $10 parking charge BUT tickets to enter park are cheaper
- No coolers (unless you hide them in your bag, which is pretty easy to do)
Final thoughts:
If you are going with a bunch of young children (under 42″), Schlitterbahn is for you. For everyone else, I’d wait until it has more to offer (still building) and stick with Oceans of Fun. I mean come on…they don’t call it Oceans of fun for nothing. 😉
best. pants. ever.
Posted: May 17, 2010 Filed under: daily life, Uncategorized 3 CommentsVictoria’s Secret Boyfriend Pant with Front Pockets.
My favorite comfy pants. Ever.
I want a pair in every color.
(Hey Frenchgirl… if you purchase them in stores instead of online, the graphic is on on the pant leg, not the rear end. 😉 )
