Your growing babies now measure about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weigh in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). They're busy moving amniotic fluid through their nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in their lungs begin to develop. Their legs are growing longer than their arms now, and they can move all of their joints and limbs. Although their eyelids are still fused shut, they can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, they're likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but he/she is forming taste buds.

Two Weeks

We are getting so excited...in 2 weeks we find out the sexes. It's yet another 2ww. We have started clearing out the room that will be the nursery. When we get back from Mexico we will paint (OK, DH will paint) and register at BRU. Thank goodness we're both teachers and we can go during the week since BRU is a nightmare on weekends.

I feel pregnant

I can honestly say that in the last few days I have really started to feel pregnant. I am more and more tired after doing normal activities. I feel big and look about 6 months pregnant. Bending over is becoming more and more of a task. Don't get me wrong, I would NEVER trade where I am at right now for anything. I feel so blessed to be pregnant with these three babies. I am just realizing that this pregnancy will take a toll on my body. I knew it would but it's a little bit of a denial factor until it actually start happening;)
School is done for the year and it's a good thing because I need to be resting more and more as this pregnancy goes on.

My next doctors appointment is on June 14th when we will find out the sexes of the babies (we're so excited).

Take a second to vote on the poll to the right and make your own guess.

This week's big developments: Your babies can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck their thumbs! Thanks to brain impulses, their facial muscles are getting a workout as their tiny features form one expression after another. Their kidneys are producing urine, which they release into the amniotic fluid around them— a process they'll keep up until birth. They can grasp, too.

In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, they measure 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and they weigh 1 1/2 ounces. Their bodies are growing faster than their heads, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, their arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of their bodies. (their legs still have some lengthening to do.) They're starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over the body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and their spleens start helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel their tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

12 week u/s

I had my 12 week u/s and NT scan today. All 3 babies looked great and are growing accordingly. All of them were very active too, which was so cool to see. We heard the heartbeat for the 1st time instead of just seeing it and that was truly amazing!!

One thing that the peri said that was surprising was that even though there's 3 babies, 3 sacs, and 3 placentas, there's a 30% chance that two of them are identical twins and split so early that they were able to get all their own stuff. Interesting. He said there's no way to tell unless they look a lot alike when they are born or we can do a DNA test if we really want and are curious.

We go back in 4 weeks, right before we leave for Mexico, and have our BIG u/s where we will find out the sexes.

The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

We have our 12 week u/s tomorrow and I'm excited but also nervous. We have not told anyone but people very close to us (immediate family & few friends) so if everything looks good tomorrow we will start to tell people Thursday and Friday.

First Mother's Day card

This morning as I came downstairs a card that said "Mommy" was sitting on the front table. I immediately started grinning from ear to ear. 1. because my DH got me a card 2. because I guess I almost am a mommy. I opened up the card and DH wrote, "Happy Mother's Day from the 7 of us." It took me a minute but I was like, 7? Umm, yeah, 2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 babies, and DH makes 7! WOW!! We are going to be a family of 5 in a few months!

Fertility Chase Sneak Peak

Our episode is set to air next Saturday, May 15th but there is a sneak peak at our episode online.

ETA: Apparently our episode aired this morning. We have it TiVo'd so no big deal but I wish we would've known so we could've told our parents to record it. Oh well, we get a DVD copy so we will just show them that.

Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.

She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will come more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccuping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.

Baby Dreamin

I had my first baby dream last night. It was pretty cool and I remembered more and more of it when I was in the shower. I dreamed what the sexes are so here's a first prediction. Baby A: boy, Babies B & C: girls. We will see in about 10 weeks how accurate my dream is...
