the minivan

All moms need to check out my friend Emily's blog: www.threegirlmama.blogspot.com and watch the video.

I wish it wasn't so funny.

Back from the Beach

We survived our trip to Orange beach. But, I can't find the little downloader thing for the camera. It has a wire on it so it is often found wrapped around chairs, dresser handles, baby brother's wrists, etc. I have yet to find it. I will keep looking so you can visualize the excitement.

Highlights:
1. The man fishing off the shore very near us catching a little stingray and baby hammer head shark.
2. Alligator Alley! Max held a baby alligator... his life is now complete.
3. Grant pulling down his pants and aiming toward the sea when I told him it was ok to pee in the ocean.
4. Rescuing jellyfish with the shovel and throwing them back into the ocean.
5. Jack eating sand by the fist full.
6. The weather was perfect.
7. Being home. Next time, Nate is going.

Car Tunes

The radio doesn't work in the minivan. It is such an annoying problem since I generally like to turn up KLRC to block out my fighting chilren. It is also a problem that has proven difficult to resolve. The original stereo system includes a 4 disc cd changer. Since the radio doesn't work, neither does the cd player. Getting any random radio at Best Buy won't work with the cd player. I called the dealer about a factory radio. $390 for the radio + tax + installation= >$500. Even if I could afford that, I wouldn't do it just for principal. Come on, it's just a crappy Chrysler radio! So, all that to set up my afternoon on Tuesday....

I decided I had to suck it up and just get a normal radio at Best Buy and say good-bye to the luxury of the 4 disc cd changer. The problem is, I'm on a time frame because we're leaving town to go to the beach. I really want a radio for the long ride. Best Buy is so booked up they can't install the new radio before Thursday afternoon. I went over to Circuit City. I find a cd player/radio on sale. They can put it in but it will take an hour and a half. I am on my lunch break and have a client in an hour so I tell the guy I'll come back later that afternoon after I pick up my kids. Who knew that statement would cause such trials? Well, really I did, but sometimes I dream.

The boys and I had back to Circuit City after MDO. I told them we would walk over to McDonald's while they fix our radio. Max is so excited to be able to listen to veggie tales again. We drop off the van and start walking across the big parking lots to McD's. I don't have the diaper bag because I didn't know any of this would be happening and we generally go straight home from MDO. I did have a dipaer in the console that I stuck in my purse. At McD's the boys are confused because they don't get a happy meal, only a snack. This concept is especially difficult for Grant to wrap around his brain. We settle on parfaits and drinks. It is amazing because we are the only people in the McD's play area! It is a dream come true for the boys. Grant doesn't really want his parfait because he wanted chicken nuggets so he quickly goes to play. I ask him if he needs to potty. Max tells him the potty is right there and shows him. Grant runs to the bathroom and says, "No, I don't need to go. I'm going to play." Not 5 minutes later he stands by the video games and looks at me. I said, "What are you doing?" "I peed. I need some new pants." Of course, all I had was Jack's little diaper. So I took Grant's wet pants off and put on the diaper which on Grant, looks like a speedo of sorts. I told him he can't play anymore because he didn't use the potty and is only wearing a very small diaper. This is hard on both of us... he was playing in McD's by himself! But, I'm trying to show how strongly he needs to use the potty!!!! Max and Jack finish their snack and go to play. I told Grant he can sit in the baby area with Jack. They play a little while and I'm talking to Whitney o the phone. Not 5 minutes later, Grant stops, gives a funny, yet familiar look and said, "I just pooped." 2 minutes after that the Circuit City guy called to say that we have a fancier version of the Amp so they'd have to rewire the whole amp whatever costing another $80. I told him to forget it. I pack the boys up and we walk back across the parking lots on busy Joyce street with Grant wearing his t-shirt, teeny diaper and flip-flops. Max is trying to understand why they couldn't fix our radio and Jack is trying to grab my straw and at the same time trying to jump out of my arms to crawl across the parking lot.

I just wanted to listen to KLRC.

Haircuts

Today was my first time to take ALL the boys to get haircuts by myself. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard someone say, "Oh my, you have your hands full" or "Oh, she has all boys..." but, that's besides the point. We went to Career Academy (formerly Leon's Beauty College). It was Jack's first real haircut. He loved sitting on the booster, wearing the cape and being a big boy. He sat perfectly still, looking around the whole time. Apparently the clippers tickled because when she got near his neck or ears he started giggling. Of course, all the girls there thought that was the cutest thing they'd ever seen. It worked out really nicely. All the boys got their hair cut at the same time so we were out of there in less than 30 minutes.

(The picture looks funny because I took it with my phone but discovered I don't have the cord needed to put it on the computer so I took a picture of my phone with my camera)

ImageAn attempt to get a picture of all three boys with their haircuts. Yeah, well, maybe in 20 years.

#1 but not #2

Grant has successfully gone since Monday using the potty for all his peeing needs (except for the one time when he was in trouble and I sent him to his room so he peed on his bed. But, we're not going to count that time). Pooping is a whole different story. He says he needs to poop, sits on his little potty, moves to the big potty, back and forth then says he's done. 10 minute later I won't be able to find him and sure enough, he's been hiding to poop in his pants.

Top 5 Excuses Grant gave me today for not pooping in the potty:

1. I already pooped, see? (No, Grant. That's pee.) Nope. That's poop and I did it in the potty.

2. I'm just going to be little.

3. My bottom is too heavy to sit on the potty.

4. I like my pull-ups.

5. I don't like the potty. It's mean.

He's a stubborn little sucker. I am resorting to the bribery factor. He responds well to food... so, if he poops in the toilet he gets a gummy worm. After I went to the bathroom earlier he asked, "Do you get to eat a worm?"
