First real bathtime!!

Mason's belly button stump finally fell off this morning! Yeah! Thankfully it happened when Gavin changed him this morning, otherwise I probably would have been so grossed out! LOL So we got to give him his first TRUE bath, thank goodness, i felt those sponge baths just were not good enough, and that belly button stump was starting to smell too! EW!! Mason didn't seem to mind so much for the bath, but it was a quick one too. and of course he peed. Mason apparently thinks the world is his toilet! haha! and of course Daddy got his good stream on film! I might post one of the more modest photos- no one wants to see any nekkid photos! lol

Normal Clothes Again!

Being pregnant with Mason I only gained 23 lbs which was outstanding in my book. I really thought with getting pregnant I would pack on the pounds since its very easy for me to gain weight, but I was pleasantly surprised that I gained way less than expected! Gavin even said not to try on my normal jeans for a few weeks, he didn't want me to be too disappointed, well I was too curious today and tried on my skinny jeans (okay we all know i'm not skinny in any means, but these are my true pre-pregnancy jeans, so i consider them skinny jeans! LOL) and THEY FIT! HORRAY!!!! I have less than 2 lbs to go to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I know my body shape isnt the same, i have this tub right around my mid section which i'm calling 'the overhang' (which i've never had so bad! lol) so that's obviously my target area when I get the okay to start exercising again- hopefully I can start some slow walking in the next week or 2, I'm feeling really good so we'll see how that goes! So maybe 3 months post partum i'll be much skinnier and weigh alot less than before this all started! LOL

Master of Disaster

Image We went to the Pediatrician yesterday & Mr. Mason weighs 8 lbs 5 oz, and is 20 1/2 inches long. Dr Ohmen says he's in the 90th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height, so he's a healthy baby!
I cant believe how much he's already changed in the past week, he looks like such a different baby from when we were in the hospital! His hair is lightening up, and he is looking more and more like Gavin to me everyday.
You ask how mom & dad are doing? we'll just say it's trial and error, and we're trying! Every night has definitely been challenging, and we're learning what works and doesnt work! We are extremely thankful for our Lazy Boy Chair that we bought a couple months back for the nursery- we've now pulled it out in the living room, where one of us always is in it. Last night Mason was extremely gassy and fussy, so Gavin took over and let me sleep a whole 5 hours straight! I think he slept in the lazyboy with Mason for a couple of hours and fed him. Then we basically switched, i took the early shift. Mason seems to sleep so much longer when he's on one of our chests whether its in the chair on in bed. I dont want to get in the habit of it, but right now sleep is sleep, and its good for me! I've learned to nap with him once in the morning and another nap in the evening, and I can handle the broken sleep much better!
We had our first outing on Tuesday- we went to the bank and to Target- it was successful (he didnt cry, slept the whole time pretty much) and no one touched him! (I'm so paranoid about it being Flu season and all!) So we *might* attempt going to church on Sunday- we'll see!

Sweet Sweet Baby!

Mason must be a big ego boost to Gavin....everyone says "oh what a cute baby" & then "he looks just like Gavin!" hahaha!

ok i know he cant smile as a reaction yet & wont for another few weeks - he was kind of gassy this morning & totally farted & then grinned. Gavin & i both saw it, pretty funny & oh it was sooooo cute. i cant wait to see his first *real* smile! its gonna make my heart melt!

Sleepy Baby....

I just took some bad quality video off my camera. Mason is pretty funny while he sleeps (and he's noisy too!) Gavin rigged him up in the LazyBoy- funny thing Mason sleeps better in it than his own bed! haha -

Mason's Big Debut!

Here is the link to some pictures Gavin took. I BEGGED him to take out the photos of me before he was born but he just wouldnt (pout!) nothing like a wonderful hospital gown and no sleep the night before - sure isnt flattering! LOL

Here's the link- these are all pictures from Friday & Saturday (1 & 2 days old) - dont ask why Gavin put the picture of my pregnancy test in there! haha!

Mason is here!

Image
Mason was born Friday morning at 1:57 am- he weighed 8 lbs, 2 oz and 20 inches long. Everything went really well- I got everything I hoped and prayed for- an easy delivery, a healthy baby, and a cute one too! Labor and delivery was very different from what I expected, it was alot of waiting, and about an hour & half of pushing (but it went by so quick and didn't seem that long) there was not nearly as much pain as I thought there would be, the epidural was awesome. It had some wierd side effects, made me very shakey and itchy, but heck it was worth it to not feel the pain! Our doctor was really wonderful, and I cannot rave enough about our delivery Nurse- her name is Tiffany and she's my hero! She was so encouraging thru the process. Her and Gavin worked great together and I definitely couldn't have done it without them. In about 3 years time, I will be requesting her for Baby #2, she was that great!

We just came home from the hospital this afternoon. So far it's been an odd adjustment, it's nice to be home, but it feels very surreal to be home with him. We got alot of sleep in the hospital, it worked out so well while we were there. There were 2 beds in my room, so Gavin slept really good and was able to stay there with me. We had so many visitors over the weekend, Mason is a popular guy and already charming the ladies. He's such a good baby too, very easy going and laid back. I'm almost scared that something is going to change because he's so good for us!! I pray that now he stays like the "angel baby" he is!!

Tomorrow morning I'll post a link for all the pictures that Gavin took over the weekend- and he took a ton! So until then, enjoy the one 'teaser'-its Mason about 8 hours old with his Aunt Amy! (He is going to be a miniature Gavin for sure- he looks just like him!)

We're having a Baby today!

We just went to the dr early this morning, she said i'm dialated to a 3 and everything is progressing just fine. So she asked if I wanted to have a baby today! She said we can go into the Hospital at noon & we'll help things progress some! So Mason could be born later this evening or VERY early tomorrow morning!! :-)
What a nice birthday gift to my sister- I know she wasnt crazy about sharing her birthday (today) but she gets to meet her Nephew, and I know she's very excited!

Will post some photos once we get home (probably Saturday).
Just in case- Gavin's cell phone number is 817-320-0774 & mine is 817-371-5437

You know you're nesting when....

You find yourself wide awake at 3:30 am (after only falling asleep around 11 pm) and deciding you'll get computer work done, do a load of laundry, clean up the living room and email clients. This is not like me- i never wake up wide awake like this, i sleep soundly all night long! Time must be getting closer! :-)

Now that I've finally taken some pictures of the nursery, I felt it was almost done, and now looking at pictures and I see my list GROWING of things i need to fix and do! Sorry for the crappy photos- I think the nursery is way cuter in person!! The theme we did was California beach theme- surfboards & hot rods. but really all you see is RED and some beach stuff! LOL
1st pic (top left to right) - our crib & 'contemporary' mobile- i know it looks like Polka dots on the wall LOL
2nd Pic- Crib & swing- Still need to paint the Big M to put on the shelf & hang the Beach Cafe sign on the wall.
3rd Pic- Dresser (still need to hang the shelf above the dresser, gavin!), beloved LazyBoy (soon enough the stroller (not shown) is going to be taken out of the corner by the dresser & everything can shift down a bit, as well as get rid of the small stand that's next to the Diaper Champ, that way the wall is a little less cluttered!
4th pic- door, closet & small bookcase- notice the PCH sign? (had to work that in there!!)
5th pic- Potterybarn Kid's photo of our bedding. its better than a photo i could get!
last pic- Wall art from potterybarn kids I want to buy in the next few weeks sometime, i think it'd look GREAT on the wall to the left of the crib- it's a US map made out of liscense plates! very cool! :)

1 Week to Due Date!

One more week to our Due date! It's just odd to think that Mason will be here in the next week! My Dr does not want me going past my due date- so if he hasn't made his big debut by my appointment on Tuesday, so said she might consider putting me on Pitocin either Wednesday or Friday of this next week, but she also says there's a full moon on Tuesday, so she wouldnt be surprised if that helps out more than anything! LOL
I've been having quite a few Braxton Hicks Contractions, but nothing more or less than I have been feeling for the past couple of weeks. In the past 2 weeks I've been having some pains what feel like dull PMS craps, in the past couple of days they've gotten much stronger at night before bed and very early in the morning. They're not painful, but def. uncomfortable along with the lower back ache that comes along as well. So that's our small update with Mason!

Please dont let Mason have my ears!

Image
So I was going thru some baby photos and it makes me wonder who Mason will look like. I have a feeling he'll look more like Gavin. Gavin said as long as he's smart like me, he'll be happy! haha! I just pray Mason doesnt have my EARS! I dont think my ears stick out as bad as they did as a kid, guess my head finally grew or something...but really, look at my baby photo- I think i was a CUTE kid, but not so sure about a cute Baby! LOL

1st Winter Storm for 2006!

Image

Our first winter storm hit last night! Here in Texas, these things dont happen TOO often, but everyone goes crazy over it and forgets how to drive! LOL Its just a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain really. To me, its an excuse to stay inside and not leave! :-)

The weather was pretty drastic yesterday, it was cloudy and about 75 most of the day yesterday, then around 6 pm the temperature started to drop, it dropped about 40 degrees in 2 hours time! It got COLD! Here's a picture of our house I took today with the wonderful weather we're having!

Moving Along!

Well I guess Mason DOES want to come out a little early- I went to my OB today and she said I'm dialated at a 2, and she said i was effaced, but didnt say how much. I know I can stay at a 2 for quite some time, but hopefully he comes SOONER than LATER. I've had an easy breezy pregnancy so its not that I want him out for my sake, but I really want my dad to see him before his trip to Hong Kong and also for Sara to see him before her trip to England. (both leave Sunday & Monday of this weekend) So I'm really working on walking and trying to get him out!Tomorrow I'll be climbing stairs and see what happens, for some reason I have a feeling it could be by this weekend. :0) If not this weekend, then there IS a full moon next week! LOL
So Send us some Labor Dust/Vibes- and easy labor dust too- and maybe we will have a new little baby this weekend!

It's Christmastime!

Its my favorite Season! I get to listen to christmas music all the time, and I get EVERY excuse to watch my favorite movie- "Love Actually"...and of course decorate!! Our tree is ALMOST DONE! i think i'm going to try and find a new topper tomorrow (i think it needs to be red) and i want some LARGE silver ornaments to put in the tree as well.

The mantle is almost finished, i need to find a stocking holder for Mason's stocking & I'm having his stocking embroidered too to match ours! :-)

Funny Baby Quotes

I have a friend who does embroidery- so I thought I'd let her embroider some onsies for Mason and a few for Rilee (Amy's bun in the oven). The problem is the longer I thought about what I wanted to have embroidered, the funnier they got. This poor child of ours...when he's older one day he's going to Tell Gavin- "why in the world did you ever let Mom dress me?" LOL

here's a few funny quotes that he'll be wearing soon-

iPood. (instead of ipod, haha and will also be in the Apple font!)

Don’t wake me, I’ll wake you.

Lock up your daughters

Last Month I was so Blessed to have 2 of my closest friends and My sister to throw me a baby Shower! It was so much fun and they really outdid themselves! Sara even took tons of photos to document the great day too! :0)

Baby Makes 3!

Welcome to our Family Blog!
I wanted to get a blog started so that our families across the country can see pictures and updates about our little family and Mr. Mason after his arrival! With Gavin being a photo nut, i know we'll have so many pictures to share!

Here I am in the last week (hopefully!) of pregnancy. Officially we've got 12 days left, but hopefully Mason will make his grand entrance before that! We're really crossing our fingers for sometime this week. My dad (soon to be "Pop") leaves for his last business trip to Hong Kong on December 3rd, and my best friend Sara leaves Monday December 4th for her visit home to England- I know both of them would love to be here to greet Mason, so hopefully he cooperates and comes a little early! I go back to my Dr. on Tuesday (the 28th) afternoon, so hopefully we've had some progress!
Gavin and I are all ready at home to bring Mason home, we've even started decorating for Christmas knowing it wont get done afterwards! Christmas 2006 will be really interesting this year. It'll be bitter sweet for me being the 1st Christmas without my Mom, however we're looking forward to the small wonders with Mason. He will be a welcomed (early) Christmas Blessing!
