Hunger Pains....

SO last week when Mason's wasnt feeling his best he wasn't drinking or eating a whole lot..12-15 oz MAX (thats not alot) his usual before that was 22-25 oz. All of a sudden Sunday he was feeling better, solid poopies and then on Monday he started acting hungry after a 5 oz bottle, so we started giving him 6 oz bottles and for the past couple days now it's 7 oz bottles, the past 2 days he's almost dranken 40 oz per day! holy cow! Plus, 3 servings of solids too! His appetite has come back with a VENGANCE! He's definitely trying to make up for last week!
Mason wakes up around 5-6 am for a bottle, well before he's chatter to himself until i got up to feed him, now he acts like he's STARVING and WAILS to be fed! Must be some serious hunger pains! LOL and its pretty funny when we feed him his solids now, especially in the mornings when he gets his Oatmeal and Bananas with EACH bite he says "mmmmmmm" like he's thinking, 'oh yeah, this is SO good' LOL, it's really cute!

AND- i can see where his bottom teeth are coming in! yeah! It looks like the bottom left hand tooth is coming first, but the right hand side tooth will SOON follow!I can't wait to see a toothy smile!

One more week and Mason will be 6 months old!

We are in Teething Hell!

This week has been crazy. Memorial weekend is one of my busiest weekends with work for the year, so with the stress of knowing what's to come and worrying of how things will be, anything else can stress me out. (and we all know I dont stress a whole alot lol) Well our roof was being replaced Wednesday and they were supposed to finish up on Thursday. Well the weather started to get bad and rained half of THursday, so the roofers couldn't finish. So they came back Friday hoping to finish, nope, again another rainy day. AGAIN with Saturday. So now they're coming back Monday to finish. I'm SO tired of the banging, luckily it hasnt been ALL day, only when I'm home of course (mornings)! Not to mention our patio is completely polluted with the asphalt that has come off the roof, so everytime the dog goes out to potty, it gets tracked in. Fun Fun. on top of that....Mason started teething the SAME day the roofers started. OH BOY! All of a sudden, he wasnt drinking much (instead of his 5-6 oz bottles, he was drinking MAYBE 2 oz!) and then all of a sudden the Diahrea starts. Mason has NEVER had diahrea, even as a newborn so the squirts are a new thing to me! Yuck! I guess he made up for never having it! At first on wednesday, I didn't even think about teething, I wasnt sure what was wrong with him. We went to the pediatrician wednesday evening, the oncall dr said he probably has a virus (didnt even mention teething). I was kinda ticked, I was asking questions on the phone such as- He doesnt have a fever, and isnt drinking much, can i give him pedialyte? The answer was- 'well you should bring him in.' So we went, and what did they tell us to do? Give him pedialyte. UGH. what a waste. FINALLY yesterday his gums became swollen so i knew then it was teething FOR SURE! Today he is MUCH better, after 5 days of the dredded diahrea, he FINALLY had a solid bowel movement today! HIP HIP HORRAY for solid poopies!!!!!!!!!

Playdate at the Zoo!

This morning we went to the Fort Worth Zoo with Luke, Kristin & Jesse. Mason had a good time and then slept the other half. It was nice to get in some walking and see the animals too! Up til now we've been using the carseat that fits into the stroller, and so I tried the stroller by itself today and he did great! I wasnt sure how he'd do so he sat up and loved it and then laid down and slept the rest of the time. I wish I had tried it sooner!

PS- Mason has been sleeping 12 hours straight for the past couple nights now it's so great!!! Never cries, goes down so easy and wakes up babbling and talking to himself! Such a happy boy!

Happy Mothers Day!

Mason got me an amazing gift- he slept 12 hours last night! Holy Moly! I joked around a few weeks ago and said I wanted Mason sleeping thru the night for Mothers Day- well that started almost 2 weeks ago and now this! Yeah! Gavin & I have been taking turns each morning who gets up for his 6 am bottle, well today was my turn, and he just kept on sleepin'! This would be an awesome thing if it stuck too! I'm not countin' on it yet, but I love sleeping babies!!

Family Room Makeover!

Slowly each room is getting finished! (its about frickin' time!) Gavin & I have FINALLY agreed on a rug for our family room. It came in yesterday and it looks so great! It has the lines & squares that he likes with his contemporary style. but it has the colors and print that I like- but also looks 'antiqued and faded'. I think it REALLY pulls our family room together! We also re-arranged our furniture and what a difference it makes! Before we just had a room that held our couch, lazy boy and tv. Now its opened up and I really like it now! (I was embarrassed by our family room before!) The shelves are finally up and pictures are being framed, now we just have to put things on the walls!

Can I hear a hallelujah!
So I got Mason to sleep thru the night again for the past week now! Actually I didn't do anything, I just put him to bed! HA! I knew before long he'd be sleeping thru the night. oh its a GLORIOUS thing!!!!!!!! No Crying it out EITHER! Take that Ferber! Last night he slept from about 9 pm to 7 am (we were out later than usual so he went to bed a bit later than normal) then he had a bottle at 7 am and went back to bed til 9:45! holy cow (thats late for him!!) tonight I will be going to bed at 11:30 (must chant to myself Go to Bed, Go to Bed, Go to bed!) I just feel like such a proud Momma that he's sleeping SO great and we never once cried it out (really i dont think he cries very often anyway! LOL) I can't imagine when he starts sleeping 11 hours a night straight! We've also been having thunderstorms almost nightly now and Mason has slept thru every single one of them! Horray!!! Go Mason!

The Mommy 'Do

So I went and hacked off my hair today. It has gotten SO long and just unmanageable. Its been going back into a ponytail everyday just about. It looked blah and just more blah. So I went and had almost 6 inches cut off!!! That's the most I've ever had cut off! I haven't had my hair this short since my sophmore year in college- over 7 years ago! yikes! So hopefully I dont look that young still! ha! I can still pull it up in a ponytail and back with a clip, its just so much healthier looking now! I still need some highlights, so I get to go see Michelle on Tuesday so she can work her magic! ;-)

5 Months!

Today Mason is 5 months old! I know I know, nothing exciting- but for me it is! It just amazes me how much he grows week by week!

We went to see Alicia & Baby GT (George Thomas) for a bit & Alicia definitely looks like she's enjoying her maternity leave! George is a total cutie patootie! Looking forward to our future playdates!

Tonight before Mason & I went for a walk, I was sitting on the floor with him working on sitting up (he sits unsupported for about 3 seconds before toppling over) Shelby came running in because she saw my tennis shoes (means walk in her language) and I told her to go out. As soon as she walked out Mason let out a little chuckle. I was trying to get him to laugh more so Shelby came back in to join the fun and decided she'd sit & scoot across the carpet *ew*- so of course I said, 'Shelby, Quit! Go out!' Well apparently, Mason found it HILARIOUS because he let out the biggest belly laugh! OMG it was so FUNNY! So Shelby thought she'd be funny and go find her tennis ball, well Mason saw that tail wagging as she walked out and he started cracking up AGAIN! So we played a game of 'throwing shelby's tennis ball outta the room so she'd go fetch it to make Mason crack up!' I've just come to terms with Mason thinks her butt is funny looking. As long he doesnt crack up at mine I'm okay! LOL ;-P
So far the only other thing that gets him even remotely close to how Shelby made him laugh is me singing 'The Hokey Pokey' to him. He knows its bad, I know its bad, so at least I can get a few good chuckles outta him!
Yeah for Belly Laughs- that's a great milestone to me! I love laughter and coming from Mason is the sweetest sound ever made! ;-)

Mason meet Hendrix....

Last Monday Mason & I went to Sara's, Hendrix pretty much slept the whole time. Today he was a little more awake so we took a few shots of them! This time next year we're gonna be in big trouble! I can see that look in Hendrix's eye, he's gonna be a little instigator! LOL So here's pictures of Mason & Hendrix's first official 'playdate'! We also took advantage and took a couple shots of us! :)

PS- No more Maid work for me! LOL I was being nice and last week on monday, I made Sara & Kent dinner, did a load of dishes for them, picked up some and started some laundry. Today, I made lunch, did dishes again, cleaned up the kitchen, put away dishes, did another load of laundry, put dishes away and even unpacked her hospital bag for her (even though she told me not to, i cant believe she hadn't unpacked from the hospital yet! So I did anyway. lol sorry Sara!) But since she decided she'd go to work for a few hours on this past saturday night (C.R.A.Z.Y!) I thought, hmm, yeah I'm not taking any more pity on her being a new mom, she can do it herself now! LOL So hopefully she enjoys her partially clean kitchen, dishes and the 2 meals I made! (thats more than I do around my house on somedays! haha!)

Mommy & Mason

We hung out at Sara's today so Gavin could take some baby announcement photos of Sara, Kent & Hendrix. I LOVE this picture of Mason & I! Gavin just snapped a quick pic/test shot and it came out so good! I really dont have many pictures of Mason & I, so i think this is one of my FAVORITES (the other being our birth announcement one!) Love it Love it Love it!

Playtime with Lucas!

Mason & I went over to Kristin's this evening for some playtime and Mommytime! LOL Kristin spoiled me and made me dinner and we played with the boys for a bit. I still can't believe Luke is 2 years old. It seemed like just yesterday he was a baby! He's such a big boy now. I can't wait til Mason can REALLY get down on the ground and play with him (sitting up and crawling) So we look forward to that! Sleep!

We've gotten Mason back to sleeping thru the night again! YEAH! So hopefully it sticks this time! He's sleeping SOUNDLY from 8 pm to 4:30 am (up for a bottle) then again to 8 am. Now if i could just get to bed by 11 pm I'll be doing good!

We're also on the search for a babysitter for Thursdays and Fridays. The Nanny we hired fell thru, so we're in search again! (So if you hear of anyone looking, pass on the word!) Right now Granpa Tony is watching Mason on thursdays (and doing a great job of it too!) and Gavin stays at home on Fridays to hang with Mason. So what we've got now is working, but I'd love consistency and to not stress about scheduling family! :(

Mason is also eating his toes now- he loves rolling all around, but he's happiest on his back so he can get his feet in his mouth! Its really cute! I'll have to get pictures of him today doing it!

The 'hawk is getting taller!

Crazy Texas Storms....

Gotta love the spring time in Texas- Tornados & Spring Storms! These storms come out of almost nowhere and can do some serious damage. 2 weeks ago it was the hail that did alot of damage, this week it was 100 mile an hour winds that did the damage. we only lost a big limb off of our Burford Pear Tree, but that was it. Gavin was out meeting with a client & I was home with Mason. He was napping & the thunder woke him up, and shortly after the Tornado Sirens started going off (for non texas residents that means 'be prepared & might wanna take cover') so i cracked open some windows and the garage (tornados can cause houses to implode or even explode with the pressure- so opening windows can help) and Mason, Shelby & I went and hung out in the bathroom for a while. The power was flickering on and off, but it didnt seem nearly as bad as a few weeks ago, we didnt have any cloud rotation in the area (means a tornado) and no hail, it was just rain coming in sideways! Shelby is terrified of thunder so she was shaking like a leaf and wouldn't DARE leave my side! Mason found it all funny and just jabbered away at me! It passed over in about 10 minutes and then we went on in our merry way! LOL

Boys First Playdate!

I love that 2 of my closest friends now have boys- Kristin has Luke (who's 2) and Sara has Hendrix (6 days old) I can't wait until Mason and Hendrix can REALLY play with Luke and run around interact. On Monday we went out to see Sara, Kent & Hendrix, I decided to take food to cook dinner for them and pick up what I could and help out as needed. Hopefully we were more of a help than in the way! LOL Mason decided Luke was too much fun and decided he didnt want to nap at all. Luke thought Mason was HILARIOUS because he could get him to laugh! LOL It was great to see the boys interacting and knowing what friends they'll find in each other as they get older. Not to mention its just fun to see my 2 closest friends being such great Moms and enjoying it so much!



Hendrix was very involved as you can see! LOL

Sucker

Thumb Sucker that is! OY. Mason has always loved his paci. for the past 2 weeks he's had ZERO interest in it. we still pack one for everywhere we go, keep them handy just in case. but NO, he's not even sleeping with one anymore (yeah!) but on the downside, i've caught him sucking his thumb! :( I dont know how i feel about that, because with the paci- you can take it away when he's older, but with the thumb you can't. with the paci- you have to constantly put it back in, but the thumb you dont! ugh. Maybe he'll just grow out of this too!

I've given up on onsie extenders. they suck.Mason is getting too long for his 3-6 month onsies, so i thought hmm, onsie extenders should work right? WRONG. i bought one at Babies R Us $3 for the package (and they're going back too) come to find out they ONLY fit one brand one onsies...because of COURSE it'd be WAAAAAAAY too difficult for all Onsie manufacturers out there to use the SAME size snaps! BAH! Today Gavin was changing Mason and put him in a clean onsie, when he came out of the bedroom i thought, wait that's a new onsie! I looked at the tag and sure enough it was a 6-9 month one! YIKES! but it fit just fine!
SO now i'm convinced they should make onsies for Long & Lean Babies!!
