Academics: EOS 2 feedback

Hi guys! πŸ™‚

Some of you guys requested a feedback session for our EOS 2 and we managed to arrange one for you guys with Dr. ranjit! πŸ˜€

Our plenary at 2:45pm on Tuesday 12 March has been cancelled as it has been done already in Sem 2 (Summarizing and clinical reasoning), hence he will take this slot for the feedback.

In addition, Dr. ranjit will also try to squeeze in a few questions tomorrow (Thursday) during the Q&A session at 1:30pm with Dr. Nyut Wai.

However, he will only be going through the questions and answers due to the time constraint and unavailability of content experts to be at the session, so if you have any queries or doubts do compile them and perhaps we’ll help you relay them to the respective lecturers.

Cheers,
Evelyn.

Exam-related announcements

Hey guys. Just a collection of announcements regarding our upcoming EOS2.

1. The OBA is actually only 1 and a half hours long (not the 2 and a half hours as stated in the timetable), so do take note. πŸ™‚ Hence, it will be from 9am to 10:30am.

2. MMS will officially be closed on Friday 25 January 2013 at 1pmΒ because of our upcoming OSPEs, so do try and take a look at the models before then.

3. Tomorrow (Thursday 24 January 2013) is a public holiday, so the whole university will be closed. This includes MMS, so if you were planning to come tomorrow, do try and reschedule.

4.Β The mock OSPE will be held on the 25th of January 2013 in LT3 from 2:30pm – 4pm. It will be similar to the previous mock OSPE except that you will attempt it individually instead of in groups.

Please take note that you are not allowed to use/bring any electronic devices into the hall as recording or snapping shots of the questions is strictly prohibited. Dave has so graciously arranged this for us, the most we can do is not get him into trouble by obeying the rules. πŸ™‚

Also, do bring your own loose papers as you will be required to leave your answers behind as well.

5. Remember to complete the Haemotology system survey evaluation form as soon as possible to avoid barring.

Cheers,

Evelyn.

Student email server migration

Hi guys,

Most of you must have noticed by now that our student emails are unaccessible via outlook.com. This is due to the migration of our emails from live.edu to Office365. The process has been completed and you should now be able to login to your emails. For those of you still having issues logging in, I made a step-by-step instruction document to refer to which can be downloaded here. If you still have issues please do not hesitate to approach any of us.

Cheers,
Shaun

Update: The file can’t be viewed online apparently but it should work fine when downloaded.

Academics: A collection of various announcements

Hi friends!

1. The official grouping list for OSCE on the 30th and 31st of January 2013 can be found here.

2. You can view your mock OSCE results in CSU on the following dates. 12/20 is the passing mark. There will be no remedial classes this semester.

Thursday, 10/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Friday, 11/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Monday, 14/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Tuesday, 15/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Wednesday, 16/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm
Thursday, 17/01/13 – 2.00pm to 5.00pm

3.Β The OSCE debriefing is now on the 18th of January from 2:30pm to 4pm in the auditorium.

4.Β The system feedback survey is out again, please try to do it. I know, it’s silly, but I do remember Dr. Joe’s kind words at the start of the semester and he did seem to express his concerns very genuinely about ways to improve the coordination of the system. It’s at this point also that you can voice out your complaints and issues (etc) that we batch reps cannot get through because these surveys are all compiled and read thoroughly.

Cheers,

ME1/12 batch reps.

Academics: OSCE debriefing & AIR topic pointers

The first one is from Dr Subra. The OSCE debriefing is now on the 18th of January from 2:30pm to 4pm in the auditorium. πŸ™‚

As for the hematology AIR topic, from Dr Afshan. ALL THE HOO HAA.

First question – talk about cell markers.
Second question – talk about donor autologous (self) and allogenic (foreign)
Third question – she wants both complications and indiciations, just that for indications, limit it to HSCT. πŸ™‚

Cheers! Good luck everyone.

Academics: OSCE & CSU announcements

Hey guys. Very important announcements to take note of.

1. Group 4 mock OSCE on the 4th of January 2013 has been cancelled due to the Sem 5 resit OSCE. It’s been instead pushed forward to 7th January 2013 (Monday) from 8-10am in place of the Group 1 CSU session.

2. Group 1 CSU will be moved to 8th January 2013 (Tuesday) at 8-10am in place of the group 2 CSU session. The group 2 CSU session will be postponed to 2-4pm later in the day on 8th January 2013.

3. On Friday, 11th January 2013, there will be a debriefing for mock OSCE by Dr. Subra. This is because there will be no time for debriefing during the mock OSCEs and you will be allowed to go home right after you finish. He will also be telling us about the real OSCE format & the kind of stations that will be covered for our EOS. This session is currently set from 2:30-3:30pm but can be subjected to change.

4. In the mock OSCE, there are only 2 stations – one history taking and one physical examination. You will be given 5 minutes for each station but only 30 seconds to read and prepare before entering the room.

5. For the real OSCE, it is confirmed that there are only 10 stations. There will be 5 stations per day with 2-3 rest stations each day. You are given 5 minutes for each station and 1 minute to read and prepare before entering. (5+1mins). 20 marks are allocated for each station making the total marks 200. Passing mark depends on the threshold of student results.

——————————————————–

6. This last message is from Dr. Jag – From now on, during CSU sessions, if you are taking a history from a patient you are no longer allowed to take notes on your electronic gadget (I.e. hand phones, iPads, PDAs). You are only allowed to write notes on paper.

Evelyn.
