I need to move

The end of the semester is so close! If only I didn't have 3 major projects standing in the way... I haven't been stressed school wise lately because right before the 3-Day I powered through the week getting all homework done that was due for the next few weeks... well now... I guess I need to do that again because things are about to be due. Also, I was really hoping for a 4.0 this semester... i have been making great grades.. but part of me is worried Im going to get Bs. I dont know why I'm so paranoid!

I really want to move. City Parc Apartments have been upsetting me lately. They raise the rent every year but I dont see anything changed for the better. The keep sending me these notices that say, "Renew NOW for our special offer! expires Dec. 18th!" okay.. let me just tell you what this special offer is. My rent will be raised to $530 a month. I started off paying $505 a month.. this year it got raised to $515 a month ( i got the "special deal" because i renewed) and now you're raising it again??? also, I live in a FOUR bedroom... with individual leases. that means we ALL pay $530 a month.. they are making $2,120 a month off each 4 bedroom unit! Did I mention that is the CHEAPEST option here? Why do you need to raise it?!?! Also... I am very over having 3 room mates. Im tired of contributing, tired of being the only one that cleans the bathroom, the only one that cleans anything thoroughly for that matter... the nazi about our air so our electric bill isnt so high. I guess Im not as giving as I used to be because IM the one that pays for my things and the other 3 all have parents that support them financially 98%. Im assuming their parents also clean up after them because I always find MY dishes and pans with dried food on them left out. I WANT TO MOVE!!!!!

The only complicated thing is where.. i have several obstacles I need to work out. (1) Is Ryan coming to UNT? if Ryan decides to come here, problem solved! lets find a 2 bedroom apartment that allows large pets and one that is closer to the highway! (2) if Ryan doesnt come to UNT... I would really like to live with my old room mate from the dorms Cathryn again. she wants to live close to campus though... Im done with campus after this year so i dont care where my apartment is so long as it is close to the highway. which brings me to obstacle (3) Which district will I student teach in? This I won't even know until mid spring semester. How am I supposed to renew my lease at City Parc by Dec. 18th when I wont even know which city I'll be going to school in?!?!? There is a chance I could be in Denton, in lewisville, in Keller ISD, Carroll ISD, etc. etc. etc. I wish I knew everything now... The only thing holding me on to this apartment I am currently in is Cassie and always having someone to hang out with if I want. uhg.

well.. I could rant and rave about moving a lot more, but I need to go to work now. boo.

Breast Cancer 3 Day

So let’s go all the way back to the very beginning of this whole experience. I registered for the Breast Cancer 3 Day in March. When you register for the 3 Day you are expected to raise a minimum of $2,300… and also expected to train so you can walk 20 miles a day for 3 days. My room mate Cassandra also registered and we formed a team called, “Viva La Tatas.” I worried and procrastinated all the way until August when I FINALLY got around to writing my letter to send out to family and friends asking them to sponsor me. I was so worried That I wasn’t going to meet my goal in time and either (a) not get to walk or (b) make up the difference myself. Almost every single person I sent a letter to donated, and I am so lucky to have such generous family and friends!!!! I raised the minimum I was supposed to have in only 2 weeks! And instead of just meeting the minimum, I ended up raising $2,760!!! Out of all the people that walked in the 3 day, all of our donations combined equaled up to more than 7.5 MILLION dollars!!!! Talk about an amazing event that can bring so much hope and funding to breast cancer research!!!!

As I wrote in my letter, breast cancer has affected 4 women in my family. My great aunt Jo is a 22 year survivor, my Great grandmother Doris Kardaras had it, as well as my Grandma who actually got it twice because it returned. My Aunt Ashley was just diagnosed with breast cancer this past summer and is actually starting her chemo this Friday. Needless to say I feel very connected to this cause because all the women in my family as well as myself are considered high risk for this disease and SO MANY women (and men also) are affected by Breast Cancer. I was thinking about those four amazing women the whole time I was walking and it kept me going the whole 60 miles. I also thought about all of my donors who helped sponsor me so I could take part in this incredible event. THANK YOU ALL WHO DONATED and thanks to everyone who supported me in my endeavor. Monica I could not have done it without your guidance throughout the past 7 months, THANK YOU!

I walked the entire way, all 60 miles. I was shocked with myself because I really didn’t train like I should have… but Cassie and I had youth on our side I guess. I had achy knees and feet. The 2nd and 3rd days and kept on. I also got 2 blisters. The way cassies described it was pretty accurate. We felt like we had “Barbie” legs that were about to break off where our legs connected to our hips. We drank lots of liquids, stretched at every pit stop and red light, and ate lots of carbohydrates. Sleeping in the tents was not bad at all. I had never camped before, but we had a blow up mattress and took Tylenol PM. We passed out both nights around 8:30. I don’t know how some walkers could stay up and party… it did not make any sense to me. The showers weren’t as bad as I had anticipated either. There was hot water and everything. It was difficult trying to stay modest, but it all worked out.

I have posted SEVEN albums on facebook. I took a lot of pictures. If you want to know more details from the event, start at the first album and the captions take you through the whole experience. You will feel like you had done the walk with me!

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

4 days till the 3 day!

I havent updated in over a month... yikes. this will be short and sweet because next week Im sure to have a super blog ALL about the 3 Day. It is in 4 days! can you believe it?!

I am in the processes of making my T-shirts right now. Im making two for me and one for my sister. My gran got me a shirt that one of my Aunt Ashley's co-workers made, and roomie cassie tye-dyed a shirt for me to wear, but Im saving it as an extra just in case. I need to make a trip to Target to get socks and a water bottle that can hook onto my fanny pack. The boyfriend is lending me his sleeping bag, Aunt Jackie is lending me one of her fanny packs, and Kevin is lending me a large bag he got as a groomsman's gift and it is the one Monica used for the 3 day as well. THANK YOU! all were purchases I thought I was going to have to make and now I dont need to. sweet. My mom is picking me and Cassie up in Denton on Thursday and we are staying in a hotel near the event that night and she will drop us off for opening ceremonies early in the morning. Cassie's parents are coming up to cheer us on for the walk. Pink pom-poms and posters are to be expected from them and they are so excited. Once the event is over they will drive us back to Denton. I have an 8AM class Monday morning and there is no way I can miss it, but I took the day off work so hopefully i can get enough rest during the day before my afternoon classes. I can't believe it is here!

I registered for classes at 7 AM this morning. For the first time ever I got into every single class that I need minus only one. I sent an E-mail to the teacher explaining my situation so I am hopeful that she can squeeze me in. This Spring 2010 semester is my LAST semester on campus before I start student teaching! well, I am taking one class in the summer, and if I cant get into the class I sent the professor an e-mail for I will be taking two in the summer.. but almost! My last competitive registration process is behind me.

I dont know why I'm blogging right now, I am overwhelmed with the amount of homework I should be getting done for this week and the week AFTER the 3 Day. But I didnt get put on the schedule for work today.. so Im taking it easy.
