Yes. Tablerock THE MOUNTAIN!

Background info: Bambi is my 1995 Nissan Altima. My dear sweet trooper of a car that's gone through thick and thin for me: she roughed the dangerous parking lots of Kamiakin High. She's had a few organ transplants but has always trucked her way into a full recovery. She's been by my side through roadtrip after roadtrip, journey's home, and safari's to the unknown, all in all an excellent companion.

Her latest adventure started last Thursday....
The sun was shining. You could feel the earth cracking through its icy crust as it yearned to absorbe the sunshine-it was a good day. I hopped in Bambi and we were off to school, but dang it I forgot my lab manual for my second class, Body Lab, so Bambi took me home where I decided to stay for my break in classes to study for my test. As the time approached to get to class I turned the key to wake up Bambi....I turned it again. Her alarm clock went off (the radio) but she refused to wake up, she didn't even stir.
OK we all know I could make this story last forever, so the abridgement: Bambi's battery died. I tried to figure out who could jump it but with my schedule, and other people's schedules blah blah didn't happen until 1130 that night. I missed my class though, it was fabulous. But Kevin & Angel were so kind to come over after work and kick Bambi out of bed and she ROARED to life. The smart thing to do is to drive her around a bit to get the juices flowing, right? Well of course Shannon jumped along for the ride and we drove around for about 10 minutes; or so we planned. The 2 of us in a car at midnight = french fry run, it's basic math. So we picked up some fries right close to the house which was also conveniently right by Reserve, the road that leads through the Foothills and eventually up to TableRock, yes the mountain!
So we meandered up the road enjoying our hot fries and chatting about our day. Bambi was doing great. Until we reached the top. The gate was closed for reaching the very top where the big lighted cross is set up, which was fine we didn't originally have a mission other than to run Bambi around so I turned around. Shouldn't have been a problem, but Bambi just gave up the ghost RIGHT THERE! no reason at all. I didn't kill the engine by being a blond while shifting..she just peaced out on us and went back to sleep. Lucky for us Cody's a night owl-I called him and asked for a HUGE favor, told him we were on top of TableRock and needed rescuing.
His response was a laugh and a "TableRock the MOUNTAIN?"
"Yes cody, the MOUNTAIN! Will you please come get me? and stop laughing at me." He laughed harder when I told him I didn't even have jumper cables in my car. And my phone died on him. Well he didn't stop laughing but he did come get us.
Side note - Shannon logged onto her Facebook and changed her status Shannon & Meg found the adventure she needed but now here we sit on the top of a mountain in the cold hoping Cody understands that the phone dying was our 911 call. Well several people were very concerned about us when they say that status update and there were texts and a phone call from Mike that included a very nice rendition of "Praise to the Man". We assured them we were ok, secretly hoping we were right!
Anyways, thankfully Cody's thoughtful and came and picked us up before he went to get his jumper cables from storage (you'd think that was illogical but really we were already so cold and it would have taken a bit longer). Well on the way down Shannon gets the thought that we could stop and Mike & Tiff's house and borrow their jumpercables because they lived close to where we were and they were awake etc etc. So we stopped by, and apparently woke them up and Mike scoured his truck and garage but couldn't seem to find any of his cables. Very unfruitful, though Tiffany, Mike and David did laugh at us for about 20 minutes confused about why we were on TableRock at midnight in the first place. We finally left their house, and headed out to Cody's storage unit to get the jumper cables, and while Cody punched in the secret code to open the gates he thoughtfully noted, "Hope the guard dogs don't get us..." now I love dogs, but I think my face lost almost as much color as Shannon's. I thought he was joking but...he wasn't. He apparently ran into them once before and they were, well, guard dogs. Thankfully we didn't have any run-ins with the dogs, but I was kinda nervous when Cody left his door open the whole time...
So we headed back up the Mountain to retrieve poore lonely Bambi and lo and behold she started right up again. Cody followed us down through the foothills to make sure she didn't die and wouldn't ya know it she can make it up a hill just fine but going down she just turns off and gives up the ghost yet again. Awesome. Cody had to follow us all the way to our house because Bambi was too crippled to make it alone.
So she's alive now. She's got a few shiney new parts thanks to Tom-seriously what an amazingly nice guy. God should send great blessings his way this year.

Moral of the story-You should always check your battery for acid buildup because making your car bubble with blue baking soda mix is awesome =0)

G-A-R-bonzo.

Just a few quotes from my day to give you an idea of the Thursday of classes:
"how do you spell that Shannon?...I don't know, G-A-R-bonzo."
"Can I get a Parana?" "We'll watch your responsibility with Tigre & see if you're ready for one"-Meg

And now for the sad story I have to share...
So Shannon, my 'ousemate, had been wanting pet fish for sometime. Actually we've both been wanting a pet but with our busy schedules and small yard area, a fish it the best idea. Well last Saturday, the day after I got home to Boise, I took Shannon to Petco to pick out some fish (it was a very exciting day). Shannon decided on some guppies.
We got three : Tigre looks much like this, http://www.funfishtank.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/guppy.jpg
Leo the Leopard:

And Buster the Bronco looked kinda like this guy:

Now, I'm sure it's fairly apparent why the guppies were so named because of their coloring. Buster because of his Orange and Blue school spirit, and Buster is the name of BSU's mascot bronco.
Now...the sad part. Buster didn't make it very long, and lets just say Shannon was devestated. She called me at work to tell me the sad news of Buster's passing. I told her it would be ok, Leo and Tigre would be fine and I would come take care of Buster when I got home. We had a moment for Buster and sent him on a journey through the tunnels that lead to the big blue, he lived a happy life. Now the rough part was the next day when we went to the bookstore to get books for classes and we looked up and there was a childrens book "How Buster Became a Bronco", one of us was very traumatized. We continued other side of the hallway to figure out some refunds on our Clickers, but when we looked up at the full wall of shelves behind the clerk, it was a full wall of "How Buster Became a Bronco", it was taunting and pulled on the heart strings. We made a dash for the door.
Now later that evening Tigre's behaviour was nothing short of depression and mourning for his missing friend. (Unforutnately we couldn't get ahold of Dory to translate from Whale to Guppy for us to explain to Tigre what happened-and yes. I am still fluent in Whale.) Tigre was laying on the bottom in depression, but dear Leo, who was always the Alpha fish, kept going to the bottom of the bowl to check on him and sometimes would nudge him and try to get him to perk up and see that he had a good life to be happy for. We were very worried about Tigre so I put the bowl in my bathroom because it stays plenty warm in there and I was hoping it would help. However we were shocked when Tigre made a phenominal come back, and our strong Alpha, Leo, was found by Shannon. Poor girl.
Currently Tigre is thriving, and I'm sure Leo gave his best, more than he could give and stay in the bowl with the friend he saved. He too made the journey through the tunnel that leads to the Big Blue....
I'll keep you updated on Tigre's adventers.

Commitment to Blog

ok so I obviously haven't gotten a hold on this blogging thing--to my family I apologize. But as part of New Years resolutions I'm going to work on updating this on my life, and I will try to be all inclusive.
I got home to Boise Friday night and made it through the fog, which was actually quite beautiful to look down on when I got above it, only to find my roommate was sick with mono. And no I won't go into details !0)
My eyes are doing FABULOUSLY. I officially have 20/15 vision and am very happy that I didn't chicken out this time. Although the wisdom teeth experience hasn't been my favorite, I'm glad it's over with. School starts again on Tuesday (insert very unenthusiastic 'yay' here). Everyone should randomly call me and tell me I should be studying, cause we all know I A.) should be studying instead of whatever else I'd be doing, or B.) would love a call to break up the studying. It's a win-win people.
I hope this was a satisfying first entry. Love you all!
