Drew had a trip to New York for work, so I took a few days off to join him! It was perfect. :)
We arrived late Wednesday night, waited for our shuttle at the airport for 3+ hours, and survived a terrifying drive into the city (no pictures of all that, sorry). Since we arrived at the hotel around 4:00 am, we slept in a little, then put on our walking shoes and warm coats and hit the city!
Day 1:
After a delicious lunch at a chinese restaurant, we walked over to FAO Schwartz and I did a little playing on the big piano. :)
Then we spent a little time wandering in Central Park and made friends with some squirrels.
Next stop was Rockefeller center to see the giant Christmas tree!!!
Ooh...Pretty!
After a quick rest stop back at the hotel we headed out to see Wicked!
Drew hadn't seen it before and that needed to be fixed.
(and we found a great little cafe for dinner -- great soups and flatbread pizzas)
Day 2:
We started by heading to Little Italy for some
authentic NY pizza at Lombardi's: America's First Pizzeria
After wandering through Chinatown for some bargain shopping and a quick peak at the Brooklyn Bridge, we headed over to the Ground Zero Memorial. It was so beautiful.
To finish off the night we went to Times Square to get TKTS tickets for a show that night --
we ended up with Peter and the Starcatcher and I loved it!
We had some time before the show to hang out in Times Square, so we sat on the red steps and took a picture. Neither of us know what the point of the red steps is...but it seemed like the thing to do!
Take a look at this screen from Times Square:
a little closer....
even closer....that's us!

Take 2 :)
Day 3:
We only had a few hours before we had to head to the airport, so we grabbed some lunch at the Brooklyn Diner -- much ritzier than expected, but really delicious.
Then we went back to Central Park and went ice skating -- kind of a dream for me!
We weren't supposed to take pictures while on the ice, but we did. We're rule-breakers.
This picture is kind of random, but it's the best shot we got of Santa Con -- groups of people wandering the city all dressed at Santa. Our waiter explained that there is a central convention of some sort, but that mostly people used it as an excuse to dress up and spend the day bar-hopping. There were about 4 Santas getting into this cab.
