Harvest Time Down on the Farm
The weather is changing.
The feds are cracking down.
It's time to harvest the crop.
I got our best man on the job
before The Man came a'knockin' on the door.
Snipping the goods.
Behold, the cream of the crop.
Bagged up for the long winter
that lies ahead.
The rest went into the processor.
Where it was combined with a
secret ingredient.
The finished product....
medicinal basil.
On to dinner.
Cornbread stuffing made with
organic corn harvested on the farm...
Some farm, far away,
Mexico maybe.
Add the usual combination of veggies.
With a few store bought spices.
Simmer.
While the man takes five.
Stir it up.
Add a few leaves of "the stuff" for color.
Rosemary garlic roasted potatoes on the side.
The chops are sizzling.
Come and get it.
Roasted chicken for the non pork
eating lady.
The farm hands enjoying their meal.
Heavily laced with medicinal basil.
I overheard the one in the bandana say
in a low, almost inaudible voice...
This s**t is blowin' my mind.
My work here is done.

What's Cookin' At Your Place?
What do you cook for 12 hungry senior citizens
with very hearty appetites?
Today it was chicken pot pie.
I start with chicken breasts and thighs
and a sprig of rosemary....
We have a small crop growing
in the back forty.
I also like to use a little fresh basil...
because we happen to have plenty of that too.
Simmer the veggies...
add some mushrooms,
and a can of chicken broth.
Pour a good slosh of white wine.
(add a little to the veggies too.)
Mix a little flour with water to thicken.
Watch Jamie Oliver for inspiration
while you slave over the stove.
Mmmm, delicious.
Yes, the veggies look good too.
The mister is the crust master.
He's okay with me watching Jamie.
Work it mister, work it.
The final product.
He also whipped up a batch
of banana muffins to feed our
hungry crowd for breakfast tomorrow.
And while all this was taking place,
chili was simmering all day for
tomorrow night's dinner.
Our seniors just love us!
I think we need our own cooking show.
