"But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exalt in you." -Psalm 5:11

Trick or Treat
After convincing Aiden that he really did like his lion costume, he had a great time trick or treating with his friends from Noah's ark.

Who is that in the Mirror?
When I brought Aiden's lion costume home, he was not very excited about it. In fact, he would run away from it every time we showed it to him. But after some coaxing and tears we were able to get the costume on him and put him in front of a mirror. He studied himself in the mirror for a long time. He would try to touch (or hit) the other lion and then laugh when he realized it was actually him. He kept walking to the back of the mirror to see what was behind it and then back to the front to see if the lion was still there. In the end, he kissed the mirror and had just a wonderful time playing in front of the mirror. He has played in front of a mirror before, but I think wearing the costume, put everything in a whole new perspective for him. We actually had a hard time getting him out of the costume. He didn't even want to take it off for bath time! He kept trying to get into the bath tub with it on. I think he'll enjoy his evening of Trick-or-Treating in his costume now. Isn't he just the cutest lion?

High heeled boots...
After the Carrie Underwood concert tonight, I seriously think I need to add some thigh-high, 5-inch heeled boots to my wardrobe. They would go great with my church wardrobe, don't you think? Ha. Well in all seriousness, I'm not sure how she can jump and perform in those without breaking her ankles. But, I guess that is why she is on stage and not me. Well, that and the fact, she can sing! The concert was great and she really put on an awesome show, as did Little Big Town, who opened for her. I had fun hanging out with some of our middle-school girls and their moms, who invited me to tag along. It's not too often I get out sans kid and husband. I was't too sure what to do with myself, but it really was fun. Thanks ladies!

I've been tagged...

So, I've been tagged once again, this time by my fun and exciting friend, Heather. But this one proves to be more difficult than the last. It is easy listing your favorite dessert (anything chocolate, if your curious) and the last movie you watched (Ironman). But, having to think of 7 random facts about yourself is not so easy when you consider yourself a middle-of-the roader (aka:boring). I'm ok with that. I came to terms with boring long time ago. So given the fact that I couldn't come up with any truly interesting or earth-shattering facts about myself on my own, or at least none that wouldn't keep you from falling asleep, I cheated. I enlisted the help of my husband, who is really good looking I might add. Thanks, Jeff.
Here are my 7:
1. I feel sad after finishing a book. I become so engrossed in a book that the characters of the book become my friends. I often dream of the characters, or "my friends", and feel like I have lost my friends after the book ends. Now, the longer the book or the series, the more intense this sadness becomes.
2. I was once an administrative assistant to one of the greatest theological thinkers in America. I had the wonderful privilege to serve under Dr. L. Russ Bush during our time at Southeastern. Sadly, Dr. L. Russ Bush passed away early this year, but will always hold a special place in my heart.
3. The amount of anesthisa that is required for my body to keep me sedated during a surgery would put the avearage football player in the ICU on a ventilator (according to the doctor).
4. When Jeff and I were dating, our crazy busy lives would only allow us 1 hour to hang out a week. We would meet a small coffee shop, Harbor Expresso, which is now a hair place for kiddos, and sip coffee and study together. How romantic.
5. During college I had a bad habit of falling asleep in between classes on the oh-so-comfy leather couch in the old CNU library. This couch was not in a hidden corner, but placed just inside the front doors to the library. So there is a good chance that a huge portion of the student body saw me sleeping there many times, as the library entrance was also the entrace to the campus Starbucks. Yea, I had no shame then, but sadly given the opportunity I would probably fall asleep on that couch again.
6. My mom thought I should join an intelligence agency growing up, due to my incredible ability to hold a conversation with someone and listen to whatever converstation was going on next to me. Now, don't worry, I'm not so good at this anymore. After having a baby, I seem to have lost my discreet ability to carry on one coversation while listeninng to another.
7. I am not crafty or creative, but have the buring desire to be crafty. I would love to sew, srapbook, paint, crochet, knit. You name the craft, I'd probably love to try it, but I always find myself way too overwhelmed to know where to begin or how to make it unique. My new desire is to paint our "future" house. I'm desperately sick of our white walls, so if and when we ever own a house, I'm afraid I'm going to go crazy with paint colors. Oh well, at least it will be a happy house.

Tunnel-phobia?
I've noticed lately that my goofy son will only go halfway through a tunnel and then turns around and comes out where he started. It doesn't matter if the tunnel is 1 foot long or 20. I've tried reaching out for his hand to help him through to the other end, but he still insists on turning around. Just a funny tidbit I wanted to share.

A Trip to the Pumpkin Patch
On Saturday, my mom and I took Aiden to a pumpkin patch in Matthews County. Aiden had more fun, than I had anticipated. I expected to go and pick out a pumpkin and take some pictures with Aiden and his pint-sized pumpkin. But, he really had a blast and got into all the activities and games there. He had great fun throwing balls through the pumpkin faces, making his way through a kiddie hay maze with his Gram, going down the tractor slide, and even helping pick out his own pumpkin. Although, I'm pretty sure he thinks the pumpkins are just big orange balls. He kept calling them balls and even tried kicking some. I think if he had found one light enough, he would have tried throwing it. I can see where he gets confused. They are round-ish. He really enjoyed the hay ride back from the field and was totally mesmerized by the tractor and all the loud noises it made. At the end, he even got up the courage to pet the goat, except he was going for the wrong end, so I quickly grabbed him up and sanitized his hands. Yuck. After the pumpkin patch we headed into downtown Matthews and had lunch in a cute little resturant with my mom's good friend. It was such a wonderful day to pick pumpkins and now our pumpkins are being proudly displayed on our front step. I don't think we'll be carving them this year...maybe I'll let Aiden fingerpaint his.
