Photo Friday 7/4/14

Image
Guess who came into town to visit????
Guess who was SUPER excited about it!?!?!?!

Image
Stop.
Just. Stop.
Rehearsal dinner slideshow opening picture.

Image
Buddies giggling in the water tunnel.

Image
When you live in Texas, you bring your swimsuit everywhere and are always prepared to take advantage of pretty, decorative water features.

Image

Emily, always the encourager, cheering on the neglected plant Pluto.

Image

Learning about water pressure , gravity, and energy.
Note: one girl vs. two boys.
Rock on, sister.

Image

All I see here is Emily in a hot tub.
Is that weird?

Image

Josh and his school buddies got together on July 3rd to prepare their school's float for our neighborhood parade. What a bright and festive group of kids.
Image
While Chris and Josh worked on the school float, Emily, The Jones' and I waited patiently for the parade to begin. It is always such a great morning in our neighborhood!

Image

We were SO lucky Uncle Steven shared the Jone's boys (and mama) with us for the July 4th holiday. We loved having friends to cheer on the parade, chase after candy, and await Josh as his float passed us.

Image

And, finally here it comes!
Josh and his MPE friends had so much fun tossing candy to the crowds and chatting " MPE! MPE!" as their float and trailer made it's way down the packed street.
(There is Josh in the red Rangers Baseball Cap).

Image
Sweet Emily learned how to blow a pinwheel from a nice old lady sitting by us.
This little girl sure does know how to capture the hearts of others.

Image
What a treat! Aunt Ginger came to the parade!
We love having Aunt Ginger around!

Image

In 40 years when Johnny is fussing about his wife, Emily,  always bossing and pushing him around...
we can show his this picture.
She was adamant that she push Johnny in his stroller.
She sure loves that little cutie.

Image

After the parade, at the carnival, Josh and Emily were reunited and this is the result.
LOVE them and their love for each other.
Nothing beats this.
Nothing.

Image
After a sad good-bye, a long, much-needed nap, and a nice little mid-day thunder storm,
we went to the pool.
Something about the holiday made Emily brave and independent and thus...
going down the blue slide for the first time this season by herself.
And, I swear, she wouldn't stop.
And, now. always talks about it!
"I go down Blue slide!"
"I no like Red Slide!"

Image

When Josh was 2.5 years old, we kept him up for the first time to see fireworks.
We thought it only fair, we do the same for Emily.
Honestly, I thought it was going to be a disaster.
She HATE loud things, surprises, bounce houses, sudden movements.
All things that elicit awe and wonder... Emily dislikes immensely.
I think she will be a scientist.
Anyway, I digress... fireworks ended up to be a success!

Image

" BOOM!"
Sitting on top of Daddy's truck!

Image
Look closely.
This was the moment she saw her first firework explode.
Priceless.

Image

And this was Josh's first time (2009) to see fireworks.
I have made a duplicate child, just in pink this time.

Port A Trip June 2014

Image
We made it to the beach. The kids buried themselves in the quarter of descent sand that was on the beach. This was after about an hour of Emily completely freaking out because (((((gasp!)))) there is SAND at the beach?!?!?!? Image
Sadly, the Gulf Coast was experiencing the worst beached seaweed since the 1980's which resulted in very little beach playing time for us this trip. Emily wasn't complaining and we found a lot of fun stuff to do around town.

Image
We have ALWAYS talked about taking Josh to see the USS Lexington aircraft carrier in Corpus and the seaweed-infested beach gave us the perfect excuse!

Image
The boys spent a few hours exploring the airplanes and the ship.
Josh was amazed at it's size.

Image
We went to the amazing aquarium in Corpus and saw some amazing sea life.
Emily loved seeing the fish, dolphin show, sea turtles, EVERYTHING resulted in a big "WOW!!!"

Image
The biggest WOW!!! came when we found this giant splash park.

Image

Josh looks like he was being tortured, but he was having a blast.
Not sure if you can tell, but so was Emily.

Image
The next day, the beach was still a mess, so we ventured into town after a few hours at the pool.
We found a local pizza place for lunch and then on a whim, decided to try the new pirate ship tour.
ImageEmily was due for a nap and was cranky, so why not throw her aboard a giant red ship full of scary men with fake eyes and hand hooks in the blazing sun?

Image
It began with a water gun war aboard the ship.

Image
And ended with face painted mustaches.
A huge success.

Image
Josh got his own "Official Pirate" certificate.

Image
And Emily WON FIRST PLACE in the dance contest!
Her price?
A plastic gun that looks VERY realistic.
Gotta love Texas.

Other awesome beach memories...

Image
Waking up early and watching Josh climb in bed with Emily and try and sing her back to sleep in the morning. (This was the first time for them to share a bedroom).
Image
Emily and Josh running with me on the beach!

Image
Play time at the playground each morning.
They both loved to swing and sing songs to each other.

Image
Here they are, in the same spot Chris and I (and many friends) have taken one last picture before we leave the condo. These smiles must mean it was a great weekend at the beach with Granne and Pa.

Image

Even if the 8 hour drive home wasn't that swell....

Photo Friday 6/27

Image

Class of 1994 reunites.

Image
After spending the day on Lake Jacksonville with some of Chris' High school friends and their kids...

Image
We did the only natural thing two adults would do when they have no kids to think about...
Get Snow Cones!

This week Emily got a new pair of running shoes and now she thinks she is SUPER fast.

Image
Josh made an Art wall in his room of art work given to him by some friends.

Image
I cleaned (attempted) out Josh's room.
This is just a sampling of the complete mess of stuff I found under beds, drawers, shoes, even in his lamp shade.
Boys.

Image
My adventure taking three kids and a 100lb dog with a cut foot to the emergency vet on afternoon.

Image
Josh's marshmallow man he requests I put on the blog.

Image
Late in the week we headed south to the Texas coast and some fun in the sand with Granee and Pa.

Image
We stopped at Whataburger for some dinner and to stretch our legs.
They had lots of fun running in the parking lot.

Image
We finally made it to the beach.
More on that in next week's post!
