Blogging Problems

I have this problem with blogging...

I think that everything I write on here has to be profound, wonderful, and inspiring.

I will sit down and write out a blog then erase it all, just because it's not "wonderful" enough. I forget that this is just to write down my day to day life and let me tell you my every day is not profound or inspiring. I am a simple girl, who lives a simple life and I enjoy it. So, my blog post can be simple. No need to make others think I live this life of grandness.

So, from now on I will simply blog my simplicity, because simplicity is what is truly wonderful.

30 Weeks

Well, I am in the home stretch! I hit 30 weeks today and I can't believe it, but somehow I also feel like I have always been pregnant. How is it that I have only ten more weeks to go? TEN. With Sam leaving on his mission, baby showers, Ms. Perry's soon arrival, and a few more things ten weeks is going to fly by.

I will be quite honest... Pregnancy is not all the butterflies and rainbows I thought I was getting myself into. There is A LOT they do not tell you and there is some they do, but silly me thought it wouldn't be that bad. It is all worth it though when my little man squirms or has the hiccups (I love when he has the hiccups! I think it is so cute).

Some things I should probably have on record about my pregnancy:

  • Milk was my favorite drink during my second trimester.
  • I made pesto pasta during my first trimester and haven't been able to eat anything pesto since.
  • I thought my water broke at 26 weeks. After spending our evening in the hospital it turns out I peed my pants (at work).
  • Little Man loves my right side, especially under my ribs.
  • Sleeping hasn't been too horrible (knock on wood).
  • We were pretty sure we were having a boy at 12 weeks.
  • I have laughing fits for no apparent reason...
  • Little Man is measuring big, so we might have a chunker on our hands.
  • Every time I get an ultrasound or am put on fetal monitors I get told that he is moving like crazy. Oh yay... An energetic boy.
  • My baby has already been requested at sleep overs. (He is quite popular)
  • Every time I lay down Little Man's world must be turned around because he goes crazy.
I am so excited to meet my little man. It is amazing how much love you can have for someone you haven't even met yet.

Pictures to come soon!

It's a...

Image

...BOY!

No doubt about that one. Our little man has no shame! He was ready to let us know (he knows his momma wants to buy him things).

We are so excited! I am just ready to meet my little man.

He has a heart rate of 159 and everything looked great. The ultrasound tech said he was a wiggly baby. Every time she would get the picture she needed he would move. My mother-in-law said that Dayton was such an active boy and no doubt our little man will be the same as his daddy!

Dayton's two comments:

"I hope you're ready."
"We are going to have a white 'Fear the Beard'."

I love my two boys :)

Obsessed

I think it is pretty safe to say that I am down right obsessed with my baby. He (I think it is a boy) fills my dreams and I think about him all day. I love just sitting here and waiting to feel him move. We go in for another ultrasound on Tuesday and I can't wait to see my little peanut again! We also find out what we are having. Woo Hoo!

My belly has really grown within this last week. It's been a hard thing to accept the growing stomach (and the rising numbers on the scale) but I know that it is so worth it.

Pampers

I bought my first thing of diapers today. I know, I know it is a little too early, BUT I had a coupon for $10 dollars off. I debated and debated and finally I just did it. "Why not?" was what kept going through my head. I either by them now or in six months, so I might as well. It was the coupon... Who can beat a $10 coupon? (Only a 50% off coupon, but something tells me I won't be seeing one of those for diapers) So tomorrow I get a box of diapers. Weird.

Maybe a part of me just wanted to buy something for the baby and this is the most gender neutral thing out there.

Baby Minter

Well, here we are... I have been married for almost five months and I am 14 (almost 15!) weeks pregnant. Dayton and I are ecstatic! We can't wait to be parents. Our little bean is so cute. I had a fairly hard first trimester... filled with all-day sickness (morning sickness is a lie), extreme tiredness, as well as an increased sensitivity to smells. I couldn't walk into our little apartment without gagging. The pain has been worth it. I fortunately was able to have an ultrasound at 13 weeks and it was so fun to see the baby. Due to some theories we believe we are having a boy, but it isn't set in stone! Here's a couple pictures from the ultrasound. Love my bean. :)

Fingers! For some reason I couldn't get this picture to cooperate with me.

The Beginning

I've probably have started more blogs than I can count, but this time I am sticking to it! Being a newlywed with a baby on the way makes me feel like I might actually have something interesting for the world to read.

So here is the run down on how I was fortunate enough to become a Minter.

I met my husband what seems like a long time ago, it is more like four years ago. I was, as he likes to say, "a tender sixteen year-old." He was preparing to leave on a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and that made me very weary of him. (He thinks that is my excuse, but honestly who would want to get involve with someone who was leaving for two years!?) We went on a date or two, and I am ashamed to say I blew him off...

The next two years of my life were not all that exciting. I graduated high school, made every attempt to leave Oklahoma (my goal was to attend BYU), and began attending the community college here in Tulsa. I was attending institute (a weekly church class for young, single adults) and that's when it happened...

There he was, wearing a TU hoodie and some blue jeans, just down the hall from me. I excitedly yelled out "Damon!" He turned and walked towards me, now why he actually talked to me I don't know... I blew him off two years ago and now I just called him by the WRONG name... My love's name is Dayton. He acted as though he didn't even notice what I had just done. We talked for just a couple of minutes then I was off with my friend, Jordan. Getting into the car J and I laughed so hard at how completely idiotic I can be at moments.

A couple days went by and J and I ended up at another YSA activity. I was way too mortified to ever speak to this guy again, so J swooped in. A couple of days later J was asked out on a date by Dayton and so began their relationship. It didn't last long for one reason or another and soon Shawn (my other girlfriend), Dayton, and I were hanging out. One night we were at Shawn's, and her dad drinks this really awful tasting drink so I dared Dayton to a chugging contest. Silly me, more like flirty me... The conditions if I won - dressing him up as a girl and going to the mall. His conditions - we had to be fake engaged on Facebook (now so it is known D likes to get reactions out of people... it just might be his favorite hobby). Well, he won and soon we were Facebook engaged. (Honestly, I didn't mind it.)

We continued to hang out and soon our group of friends were back to college and it was just us two left here in Tulsa. School began and Dayton "needed" my computer to complete assignments, so he would come over and we would do homework and flirt, but mainly just flirt. After too many weeks of just doing homework he finally asked me on a REAL date.

I was nervous... I didn't want to mess it up. He was handsome, tan, fit, and he spoke Spanish. What more could a girl ask for? He picked me and wouldn't tell me what the plan was (another hobby of his... surprises!). We soon turned into Salvation Army and I was told we had so much money to spend to pick each others outfits. I was ruthless. We then headed to Incredible Pizza for some food and games. We spent the entire getting the craziest looks. It was beyond fun and I knew any man that would let me dress him crazy then go out in public with me was the "one".

I then ended up hurting my knee and was in need of surgery. After my surgery he showed up with Promise Land chocolate milk. The most delicious chocolate milk ever, and only a couple of days latter we were on date number two. He took me to one of my favorite restaurants and then to Grandma's (where he was living at the time) to watch Rocky. I had never seen it before and I still can say that I have never really seen it. We spent the time flirting and I was dying for a kiss. I had been hanging out with this kid for awhile and I was ready for a kiss! I finally just kissed him on the forehead (a sign that it was OK to kiss me!) and bam! he kissed me! Oh my goodness, I was so happy. It wasn't nerve racking or weird. It was... perfectly comfortable... like we were just meant to be.

A month later I was engaged to my handsome, Spanish speaking man and life was amazing. Things weren't perfect, let me get that out there, but I had the man of my dreams and I was going to have him for time and all eternity.

My ring was a rock :)

On June 1, 2012 I married Dayton Minter in the Oklahoma City Temple for time and all eternity. It felt so surreal to sit in the temple with him and know that this is the man I get to spend forever with, this is the man that will be the father of my children, this is the man that I get to share everything with, this is the man that I get to grow old with. Sitting there with him in the temple I had never been as grateful as I was in that moment. I am truly blessed.
