But we recently decided we would foster a puppy through a local rescue group that my friend helps run. Mainly we did this to see if having a dog would be a good fit for our family...especially Samuel. He has wanted one for a long time now. And since he struggles sometimes with confidence and getting down a lot, we thought a puppy might really help him!
All the kids have been begging for a dog for awhile now.
So one day we went to see this little guy...
And brought him home!
His name is Hunter and he is some sort of mix between lab, australian shepherd,
and probably some boston terrier.
His mama was hit by a car and her litter of puppies stayed with her trying to nurse
until someone rescued them.
We surprised the kids after schoool, and they were shocked and excited!
And then my sweet husband left the next day for a 3 day work trip.
Did I mention I'm not really a dog person? And I have 4 kids!
He did pretty well though.
Hunter is about 4 months old so was already crate trained about mostly potty trained.
He of course is by my side constantly because I'm the one who mostly takes care of him.
Again, did I mention I'm not really a dog person?:)
He is growing on me though.
He's smart and mostly sweet.
The thing that wears me out is the potty training.
I thought I was DONE with that after I trained Annie!
Our neighborhood has this awesome nature trail with a dog run on it.
So we took him one day recently and he had a blast playing with two other dogs
in the large fenced area.
We don't have a huge backyard and it's not fenced in so this is a great thing to have access to!
I have to admit this face is hard not to love.
We will see what the future holds...but my kids are definitely vying for making
him part of our family forever!
