So me... ever the optimist... (yeah right lol) I told him since were friends he should vouch for me since he's a sheriff and all... (I doubt he'd vouch for his own mom haha! ;-) love you brother Russell!!) So as I'm crossing the line into Clark County (seattle area) I'm about to head down a large hill. I'm in the far left lane, about 6 lanes over (exaggeration) and I look down and I'm going about 85mph... the speed limit is 60... CRAP! I look to my right and there's a white SUV just waiting for the opportunity. I locked eyes w/ the cop and I knew I was busted. The cop was nice though, he let me go w/ a ticket of only 5 over. Which according to my friend who is a sheriff, that's a HUGE difference in price.
Funniest part about that story, my other brother who was traveling to our brothers house on the same day from Utah got pulled over for the EXACT same thing. And he got a ticket for only 5 over too, so we both found the cops to be lenient at least... HAHA! The sad part about that story is that I only would have had a little less than a year before my other 2 tickets would have fallen off my record... now I have 3 on my record... well... technically 4... but we won't count that one haha!
So I hung out w/ my family and we had so much fun. My brother likes to go crab fishing and showed us a good way to shell them... My first one, I kind of feel sorry for the poor little guy... it took me probably 2 minutes before I gave up. My brothers and my cousin were laughing at me because I was using all my strength trying to shell the stupid thing and his shell wouldn't come off!! His eyes are protruding out of his shell because he knows what's happening and I'm just making him suffer. I finally had my brother take over. The next day we had crab again and I decided to take on shelling one again. This time my brother talked me through it and I finally got it. It took me a bit, but it was a success. Then the more I did the faster I got. I was mostly fascinated by the fact that their lungs and heart were still working between 2-5 minutes after we shelled them.
The crab was so sweet and already had such a good flavor to it we didn't need butter!
They look like this
and go to a place where you're not going to catch something on fire, like a gavel yard, dirt yard, etc. Then you all hide in your prospective area's (oh it has to be dark out) then on the count of three, light your firework and aim them at each other! lol My dad played w/ us one year and a sparkling firework came out of his and right at my chest... caught my sweater on fire in a small area by my shoulder. All I saw were sparks for about 3 seconds then a small flame lol. He felt so bad. I'll never let him live it down.
We blew up about 2 hours worth of fireworks, by the end we were all pretty much done w/ lighting them off. I was going to bring at least one home to Utah to light off the mortar, but my brothers warned me not to in case I get caught. So I didn't. Maybe next year though lol. On the way home I stopped in Yakima (my death area) and stayed a few days w/ my favorite family the Russells. I loved being able to know them on my mission and continuing a familial relationship after. They are the best!!
On August 12th I adopted a dog, and decided to name him Gunner. The reason behind this was someone tried to break into my house for the 2nd time in the 5 months so it was either get an alarm system installed, or get a dog. I'd have preferred both, but I decided to go w/ the dog.
As far as I can tell his breed is what is called a Corgidor, it's a hybrid breed crossed w/ a pembroke corgi and a labrador. Though I also think he has some pitbull in him. When I first got him he was so good, a little shy and very clingy to me. He didn't want much to do w/ my roommate. That saturday at about 5am he started puking, and it was close to about every 5 minutes. I knew it wasn't kennel cough because I was trying to read up on it and the symptoms he was having wasn't what kennel cough is. So I decided to take him to the vet.
His first picture after adoption
What his body looks like, though his coat looks A LOT better now.
This is after his first bath after adoption. He was so happy and running around.
This was the night before he started puking. I thought he was just really tired, but it ended up this is when he started getting sick.
Waiting patiently for the doctor.
This is about an hour after the picture above. We were still waiting.
The vet diagnosed him w/ pneumonia and had to inject 30ml of fluids on both sides of his back, which left cold mounds where his shoulder blades are. They also gave him 3 different kinds of antibiotics which made him very sleepy and cold.
He had to have a towel under his face because his nose was continuously draining.
after about a day he was able to be outside of his blanket. progress!!
still sick, but not puking anymore, and I think his nose quit draining by this time as well.
lol I had to take advantage of his being sick...
After 2 weeks of shoving pills down his throat 4 times a day, making the bathroom a sauna 2 times a day w/ vicks shower pills, and doing percussion therapy on his chest 2 times a day, he's healed. Pneumonia is gone, and training him was SO rough on me in the beginning. He wouldn't stay in his kennel, and I decided to tie it so that he couldn't escape, well that backfired on me because he destroyed his METAL kennel. I'd never seen a dog do that, he was so stressed out. I still believe that it's because he was in a shelter. Well first he was in a pound in southern Utah somewhere, then he was rescued by the Salt Lake County Shelter the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized.
During his training he was pottying in the house, and was SOOO destructive. It was so hard not to hold it against him when he's chew up my shoes, and my roommates stuff, but he's gotten a lot better. The trainers I've spoken to all said he probably had separation anxiety but once he realized I always came home, and got used to my routine he would "grow" out of it. Which he is slowly doing. We still have a few issues here and there, but for the most part he's a normal 2 year old dog. I love having him, he's a great little companion. He's also my little shadow. Never leaves my side besides when I'm at work. Or when he's playing w/ my mom's dog whenever we visit Wyoming. (I'll have to upload some pictures of Gunner and Saide (my mom's dog) later. They are seriously BFF's, Gunner sleeps for about 24hrs after we leave because he's so depressed. lol poor little guy.
Well I'll have to update w/ some other news later. This post is long enough as it is. The most recent exciting news... I turned 26 on November 16th. Man I'm getting old... haha!
