sybrowsky year-end review - april 09
Wow, April was a busy month! We spent lots of time doing fun activities out-of-doors with our friends. And some time indoors. Like the time we went bowling at the temple. At least that's what the kids will tell you we did.
Actually, we took the kids to see the temple grounds and then went bowling at the bowling alley next door to the temple. But to this day when we see the Seattle temple from the freeway, the boys shout, "That's where we went bowling!" So glad our trip to the temple was so influential.

Also in April we enjoyed a 30-mile bike ride that included stops at parks along the trail, like Mathews Beach Park in Seattle.

(Yes, this is how far behind Christian I was most of the ride.)

No, I don't know what he's doing, but Adam sure thought it was funny.

Mom sure likes to turn every outing into a photo shoot!
One of my favorite things we did this month was travel up north to the Tulip Festival. It was seriously amazing.

James went on a year-end field trip with his preschool class to the farm. He couldn't stop talking about it for weeks! They went on a hay ride, planted pumpkin seeds, petted baby animals, went down the slide and crashed into bales of hay (multiple times), and had treats. But James' favorite memory of this day is talking about sheep poop with his friends. I'm not surprised, are you?

What a great day!
We also planted a container garden with tomatoes, green onions, lots of herbs, cucumbers, and flowers and enjoyed the blossoming trees in our yard. Hooray for spring!

We can't forget all the Easter egg killing that went on in April, but I actually posted about that one (I know--shocker)!
My favorite thing about April was all the time we spent outside. It can be hard getting through the long, gray winters here, even if things stay green. I miss the sun, but April brought it back!

sybrowsky year-end review - march 09
In addition to Grandma Holly's visit in March, we celebrated March with a family getaway to Great Wolf Lodge (aka Grateful Lodge according to Addy) near Olympia. Not only is it a huge kid-friendly hotel, it is an indoor water park. Eighty-degree weather in March? I'm there.
We watched movies,

ate treats (in our underwear for some reason),

played kung-fu with the fountains,

went on HUGE waterslides,

tried to spray Mom whenever she was in squirting distance,

went to story time with the wolf,

and got really, really wet!
Boy were we tuckered out when we got home!

sybrowsky year-end review - february 09
february '09
In February we decided to be tourists in our own city. First, the Pooks (aka Coopers) came to town for a residency interview and stayed with us, so we had a chance to show them around Seattle!

Me & Kalli at Seattle Center--I'm holding the obligatory Starbucks cup (with caramel apple cider--yum).

James begged and bawled to go on this roller coaster, but once he was on it he cried the whole time. When he got off he said, "Oh why did I ever get on that thing?" Six months later he was trying every scary ride at Lagoon and loving it. Go figure!

"There's the Space Noodle!"
"Monorail, monorail. . ."

James spent his own money to buy this toy snake at Pike Place. It is still a prized possession.

Kalli just before her first taste of The Daily Dozen cinnamon & sugar donuts. Mmmm, donuts. . .
Later in the month we met up with my old friend Megan Gray (Hochstrasser) who I found out lives about an hour south of us. Thanks, Facebook! We met up at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium where they had a membership. We'd never been, and they got us in for free, so it was well-worth the drive! I loved catching up with her and the kids got along great.

We also visited the Burke Museum with Jessica & crew at the University of Washington, where they have a pretty respectable dinosaur exhibit. And a few totem poles.

And James had his preschool pictures taken. What a big boy!
