Merry Christmas- A little early!

As most of you know, we had our ultrasound on Tuesday, and we wanted to tell everyone what we were having for Christmas. But rather than wait, I decided to just make Christmas early!

So just in case you haven't heard... It's a BOY!!!

We thought it was going to be a girl for sure, but it was a 50% chance. I am looking forward to this new addition, but now I am nervous, as I have never had boys around!!! I grew up with girls everywhere!!! Hopefully it won't be too crazy!

The ultrasound was neat. We have a mover and a shaker on our hands, as he wouldn't hold still very long! Every time we would get a good look at his face or hands he would kick, roll, or punch is way out of the picture! We did get to see him suckling, and the little fingers stretch out!

He weighs in at 9 1/2 ounces and all of the organs and bones look healthy! I couldn't be happier! That is what was most important to me!

I have thought of a ton of names but haven't settled on any yet. If anyone has an idea, let me know!!!

Just a little update (mostly for me)

Yesterday was our 3rd anniversary!!! I am so glad I married Jason! He is soooo good to me, even when I don't deserve it! I am still madly in love with him, and can't wait to see what every day brings! We both had to work yesterday, and he had school last night, so we celebrated on Saturday. I made him breakfast in bed and then we just hung out and tormented each other the rest of the day. We watched some movies, played some games, and napped! It was a very nice and a very relaxing day. He got me an auto start for my truck so I don't have to go out in the cold any more to start it! He said it was a gift to both of us, so he didn't have to hear me complain about going out to start my truck in the winter. (He's smart too!!!) I love it! I know its really an Alaska thing, but just imagine if you could press a button from inside your work, home or where ever when it's -40 below, and your vehicle started and warmed up!

On to other news... Things are going really good, I am at 11 weeks. I am feeling great, except for the fact that clothes don't fit like they used to... Jason has to go thru a fashion show every morning with the "do I look fat or pregnant?" question. I am not quite big enough to wear the maternity clothes, but I look pretty chunky in my regular clothes. He is a good sport though! I still get really tired by about 6 or 7 pm. I hardly ever make it past 9 pm now! Partly to blame is the Alaskan winters though, it's dark by 5 pm! My few cravings have been cardboard like jerky (that stuff that comes pressed like paper -gross I know) V8 spicy, raspberry lemonade, and more often then not, Claussen pickles. Anyway, my heartburn has gotten a little better, and I am still making my trips to the potty way more than I expected! As for the rest of our life, Cheer is still on a little break, which I am loving for the time being. We start basketball season the first week of December. The snow has started to accumulate and we have about 6" now, the temperature has dropped and it dips below zero almost every night and only single digits during the day. I was hoping that being pregnant would keep me warmer, but I think this baby is just hogging all my blood flow! I am constantly freezing! Other than that, just enjoying the time!

Appointment # 2

This morning was very interesting!!! As stated in my last post we were rescheduled for this morning to get measurements, and hear heart beats. We got a lot more than that!!!

We got to hear the heart beat first and Jason just grinned! It was so cool to hear that little locomotive going so fast inside! the doctor measured it out to about 180 beats per min. It was just neat to hear that!

Then with all the confusion on my due date (I was very irregular) they decided to do a quick ultrasound! This is a huge deal for us, because the military doesn't schedule more than one (or maybe 2 if your lucky) ultrasounds. So for them to want to do one today just made me smile!!! It was so neat! The very first thing we could see were these little legs just kicking away! It was so cool to see them move and stretch out! then we got to see the full body shot, head shot, and even a backside shot! We could see the little heart beat and we got some amazing time with our little one! It was so cool to have a military doctor spend that much time with us and let us just look and giggle about how cute it is! Anyone who is military understands what I am talking about. She even printed 3 different pictures for us and about 3 more for my records. With the ultra sound the doctor was able to narrow down my due date a little. We measured out at 9 weeks 1 day so we are due May 26th now! Not as far along as we thought! I am okay with that!

We checked to make sure there was only one- Yep- just one! Whew!!!

So Jason took the really good picture for his office (he is excited too!) so I will have to steal it to scan it, the other two are kind of hard to see what your looking at. Another 5 weeks and then we will go back and see where we are!

May 26th here we come! hehehe!

Appointment #1

Today we had our first appointment. Of course with the military it was nothing like I expected. Not a bad experience, just not as expected. Jason and I had both taken off work and were so excited to finally see and hear that I wasn't just crazy! They reviewed my blood work, said all looked great. Checked me over, did my medical history and then and gave us the due date. Our official due date is May 6th 2010. I was close! (I said May 2nd) Jason was thrilled that we are farther along then he thought. (means we can still go fishing next summer and I just might make Cjani's graduation!) But they didn't have me scheduled to hear the heart beat or ultrasound... A little disappointing. So they rescheduled us for tomorrow morning. Jason will get to hear the little monkey already growing like crazy, and not just my stomach saying eat more!
May 6th here we come!

Finally!!!

Big news at the Major house!
Jason and I are officially expecting our first baby! I am almost thru my first trimester and feeling fantastic! I haven't had any sickness, and other than being tired and always running to the bathroom, I have felt great!
If I have my dates all figured out, we should be due around the first of May. I will know better on Monday though, as that is my next appointment. Jason and I are thrilled about the baby, and just hoping for a healthy, happy child. We will keep you updated as we find things out! (I promise to do better!)

YIPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

Latest and Greatest! - BEWARE- Picture Overload!!!

I am sorry about slacking on the posting! Time just gets away from me!
The Major's have been crazy busy this summer!
So here is what we have been up to for the last month or so!

Image Playing with other peoples kids!
We love having time with everyone's kids! Cara Loves her Uncle Jason! We were just sitting there and they busted out the Grumpy's! So I had to catch it!
This is Cara and Jason being "Grumpy Flakes!"
ImageCheerleading!
I am officially back to being a coach! This is the first day back! I am hoping for another awesome team this season!!! My little sis and her friend are coming to cheer with my team for a few weeks this summer! Hopefully they will all have a blast!

Image
Putting in a whole new yard! We needed to get some landscaping done! I love my house, but I hate not having a yard! This is before we had grass growing!

Image And now I finally have grass and flower beds!!! We have worked on this house and yard since we arrived! It's still a work in progress, but hey at least we have some color now!!! I love being able to get rid of all the dirt and dust!

Image
The new driveway! Jason is thrilled that we finally have a new driveway! You really can't do asphalt or concrete up here because of the weather changes and it cracking. This stuff is called D1 and it is ten thousand times better than gravel! It gets really tight and compact and it looks like asphalt with out the tar!

ImageCamping and fishing!
We do an annual trip around the State of Alaska and we have a blast! This is me with the one (and only) fish I caught!

ImageOur friends and us fishing away!

Image I know! You love the outfit right! I match perfectly!!!!

ImageEveryone fishing!
We all really wanted to get away from work! It was beautiful! Warm weather and nothing but sun! We even got to fish with the bears! About 10 minutes after I took this picture a small Grizzly Cub walked in and started playing in the water. Of course I forgot to grab the camera. :(

ImageJason showing his skills! We really needed this!
Although we didn't catch that many fish, we had a blast!

ImageThe white water adventure we went on!
Class 6 rapids are really scary!!! It was cool to see! Only one man has ever made it over these rapids. His name is Steve Mahay. He sat and told the story to Jason on day. He broke his whole front jaw in the process of trying! Jason and I really enjoyed his company!

ImageJason and I ran a 10K race! (That is over 6 miles!!!)
One of the things I love about being in Alaska is all the daylight in the summer. This race is called the Midnight Sun Race, and that is because you start running at midnight! We finished it! Wahoo! This was at the end, almost 1:30 in the morning! It rained, but we still had a blast!
ImageHappy Birthday Jason!
My man is the best! I'm glad I get to spoil him rotten!!!
ImagePlaying in the mud!
We went 4 wheeling with some friends, and found some good mud to play in! Dave got stuck and Jason is pulling him out! We had a great time. The sun was shining all day, and then once we decided to head back it, started to DOWNPOUR! I mean hard rain and hail, hurt your skin when it hits you! We were drenched by the time we got to the truck! It was crazy! So now the joke is: if we get on the 4 wheeler, you will get wet!!!

Image Jason and I went out to the flats, and played all day!
I got a message in the sand and of course the best husband around!
Thanks Jason for all the fun we have had this summer! I love every minute!!!
Hope you're all having a great summer too!

Update

I have been slacking in the updating department! I wrote this over a month ago, but for some reason I never posted it... So here you go!
So here is what has been going on in our neck of the woods.
First off tonight has been very interesting and scary all at the same time. I love living in Alaska but tonight we had a wildfire that started and because of the area and the vegetation it burns the same way as a forest fire. Anyway it is only about 3 miles from my house. Here are a few pictures of the helicopter getting water from the slough. Mom this is the paved road that runs right in front of my house. I tried to upload the video but wasn't working...
Image Now it seems a little scary to have all these trees and vegetation around... Anyway, we have been keeping watch on the sky and just hoping the winds will die down and they will be able to get it under control. I just hope no one looses a house or anything! I will keep you posted.

In other news. WE BOUGHT A 4-WHEELER!!! Jason now has a new toy! He "needed" a 4- wheeler for hunting this year, and a guy from his work was selling one for a steal! We went out to the river and played last weekend!
Image

It has been beautiful weather here these last few weeks. Sunny and 82 degrees today!!! We have about 20+ hours of sunlight now, so the sun is just about setting at 11:30pm. Kind of makes you weird! You loose so much sleep!!! I was out playing last night until almost 10:45pm when Jason said it was time for bed!!! Crazy! This picture was taken at about 9:30pm.

ImageHere is a good picture of the moose using the cross walk up here! Image

So we have been riding the 4 wheeler a lot, watching the moose, and enjoying the 20+ hours of sunshine! I love summer, but for now I would love to get some rain... I hope everything will be under control soon.

Weekend of Fun pt 1

A little history on one of my best friends. I have known Lisa since I got involved with cheer leading in North Pole. Her sister Breana is one of my girls. Anyway, she and I became instant friends. She was single and Jason had a friend, Pete, that was single... We hooked them up...Long story short, Love happened, Pete proposed 3 weeks ago and they are getting married next Saturday! No time like the present!

Lisa had asked me to be her Matron of Honor and I was glad to be able to help! I have had experience in the fast wedding planning department. So we have been crazy busy trying to plan a wedding in basically 2 weeks. Anyway, Lisa still didn't have a dress yet, and unfortunately Fairbanks only has one little dress shop, so we made a turn and burn trip to Anchorage this weekend. We left Friday at about 5pm and were on our way. It takes about 6 hours to get to Anchorage driving. It was Lisa, her mom Marcia, her sister Breana, her son Landon, and me.

ImageThis is me, Landon, and Breana just chillin in the back. We all had so much fun!!! We finally got to Anchorage about 11pm. Crashed for the night. Saturday got up and headed for David's Bridal. Lisa found her dress in under an hour! It was dress # 3 she tried on. I would post a picture, but we don't want to give it away yet! So after the wedding I will post again! I still needed a dress too so we started on mine next. Lucky me dress # 3 worked perfect as well!!! Her colors are watermelon pink and sage/grass green. So all that was left were the little things like ties for the guys, and a little suit for Landon. Well the guys weren't so easy. We looked and looked for ties. Nothing that was the perfect color. We found a few that would work and finally left for home at 8pm, way later than planned! Lisa and I sang the whole way home! We had a great time! Anyway, we got home about 3am. I was so tired! Jason and I had planned on going to Denali that day so I was hoping that I wouldn't be too tired at 8am the next morning! What a great time! Hopefully we can finish all the final details and have a beautiful wedding on Saturday!

Weekend of Fun pt 2

Jason and I have wanted to go to Denali National Park for a few weeks now. We finally went on Sunday. We left Fairbanks about 9am and were on our way. We would have left a little earlier but as you can read in the next post I was so tired from the previous trip! Denali is about 3 hours from our house, so we enjoyed the drive down. Once we got to the park this is what we saw. 5 grizzly bears, 1 wolf, 4 moose, 20-25 caribou, a ton of rabbits and ptarmigan(its the bird).

ImageImageImageImageImage

Sorry I know these aren't the clearest pictures, but they were kind of far away and I am not that steady. I wasn't able to get a picture of the wolf, he was trying to be sneaky.

We had a really good time, just enjoying the day. We were in the park for about 4 hours and then decided to head for home. On the way out Jason noticed something on the road, and stopped to pick it up. It was a cell phone. I really didn't feel comfortable going thru someones phone to try and find a name, but we finally found his wife. We called and she was sobbing. He was up here for the summer working and she was in Alabama. She was afraid something terrible had happened as he checks in frequently, and she had not spoken to him. Anyway, to make a long story short, we tracked down his name, where he worked, and then went knocking on doors to try and find him. We finally did, and he was so happy. He thought for sure it was gone forever. That made our day so much better. It always feels so good to help someone, especially when they are appreciative.

Then we headed for home. It was a good day. We really enjoyed the road trip and seeing all the animals out and moving. I wanted to see baby cubs but I guess mom still has them hidden away. Hopefully we will go again in the fall and see some more color! Did I mention that I love it here?! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!!!

Monster's vs. Aliens!

We had a date night last night and went to the movies! Most of you know we are not big movie goers but we had a lot if fun! We went to see Monster's versus Aliens in 3D! It was really good! They can do amazing things with 3D! Anyway, Jason and I couldn't get over how adorable we looked in our 3D glasses! Here's a few pictures, don't you think we are stylin?!

Needless to say, we had a great time! Go see that movie!
It was great for us and it's great for the kids!

Break Up is Finally Here!!!

So for all of you that don't know what I am talking about here is the Alaska definition: SUMMER!

Break up happens in a place that gets tons of ice and snow. Basically it is when the temperature sky rockets above zero, winter is over, and everything starts melting and breaking up. Ice comes off the roads in huge chucks, water starts flowing everywhere, everything is dirty and slushy, and it is finally above zero! You basically break up the ice to get it rid of it. In Alaska Break up means summer! Everyone goes crazy at Break up! People are wearing shorts and short sleeves, and coats are a thing of the past! We only have spring for a few weeks. So we are ecstatic when break up happens! Everything melts!

2 weeks ago it was -20 below and this week it is 40 above! All the snow is melting, and there is slush everywhere! That means it is time for PUDDLE BOOTS!!!
Puddle boots are the best thing ever in Alaska! They are the closest thing I have to fashion and they are my favorite part of my wardrobe come spring! It's the only thing I can really get away with up here! Puddle boots are cute rain boots and perfect for break up in Alaska. With all of snow trying to melt, and mud everywhere, it is the way to go outside, but be fashionable at the same time. You can't really wear heals, or sandals at break up, you would just end up digging holes in the ice, or getting slush in between your toes. It's the only fashion trend we can have up here! (Those of you up here know what I am talking about!) Puddle boots are the coolest!
These are my latest pairs! Frogs, Fishies, and Flamingo's!

ImageImageImage

Anyway, hope you're enjoying the spring time season! I am looking forward to the 24 hours of sunlight in just a few more weeks! Yippee for Spring!

Just another Saturday with the Major's

Tickets for the Circus -$48
Dinner at Bostons -$35
Carmel apple from the home show -$5
Coming home from town to find 2 moose asleep in the back yard- PRICELESS!
Jason took me to see the circus today- It was pretty good... They had some cool acts with contortionists, hula hoop girls, balancing acts, and strong men. It wasn't huge, but it was okay. Fairbanks usually doesn't get many shows like that, so it was something different to see. We had fun! Then we were starving, so we went to Boston's for dinner. Then after dinner we went to the home show. It's a huge vendor show for home improvements and stuff like that, the whole reason we go though is so I can get a Carmel apple! They have one vendor called the fudge pot that makes all kinds of yummy treats. They go to every event in town. Their Carmel apples are my favorite! THEY ARE THE BEST!

ImageAnyway, after that we came home, and when Jason pulled up to the garage I noticed a moose sleeping out by our fire pit, I went to get the camera and when I came out, there was another one sleeping just inside the woods. 2 moose just chillin in the yard! I LOVE LIVING HERE!!!

Image
So now we are just chillin inside and keeping an eye on the friends in the back yard. We have moose around all the time, but I love them so much that every time we see one it's big deal to me. I am sure Jason gets tired of it, but I love it!!!
Just another wonderful weekend in North Pole!

My little sis!

Happy Birthday and Good Luck!
This is a shout out to my little sis Cjani. She is amazing! I wouldn't trade her for the world! First- GOOD LUCK CJANI! She is trying out for her senior year of cheer leading today! She has been cheering on the Box Elder Varsity team for 3 years now! I know you will do just fine! Don't stress and have fun! Cheer with your heart and smile cute!
Image
Second- HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS! She is going to be 17 next week (that makes me feel old!) I can't believe what a great person she has become! I love her more than ever! We are so close! For sisters being so far apart in age and not to mention miles! My Bestest Friend! She is definitely one of a kind! She loves to have fun and just go with the flow! She is gorgeous and smart and really honest(sometimes brutally!)

Some of my best memories are with Cjani- Her and I have a tendency to make everything an adventure! As kids, she always had her baby dolls, and loved to get me in trouble! We would go on treasure hunts in the basement, do hair for hours at a time, and then start over, until there was hairspray stuck to everything! We loved being outside and looking for frogs in the backyard. We would play with barbies, ride bikes, watch movies, sing karaoke, and just do anything together! Lots of sleepovers in the playhouse! Those were our favorite! I miss her a ton, but thankfully Jason understands and I usually go home just to see her once or twice a year! This past Christmas I went home and it was so much fun! We went shopping, did hair, gossipped all night long, and went indoor skydiving. We always get along!
Image
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks Nae for being such a great sister and friend! Love ya!!!

Moose Rides!

Jason took me to the Air Force Base today, because the brand new BX opened this weekend. (It's like a little department store for Military) Anyway, they had this real (stuffed) moose that you could sit on to get a picture with! So obviously I had to! Gotta love the moose!
Image Silly I know! We had fun though! Jason even got pictures, but threatened me within inches of my life if I posted them! lol! Only in Alaska!

A Great Weekend!

It was a great weekend and I really love my husband! He is always so creative and just goes the extra mile! Here is what I woke up to on Valentines morning! I got out of bed and shuffled into the bathroom and found this! You really can't see it in the pictures, but all of those letters and shapes have been colored with crayons! How cute!

Image The new necklace! I have a smaller different version, but this one is because "his heart just keeps growing!" I really love him!

Image Our running joke is about the Jared commercials! We don't have a Jared's in Alaska so I always ask him if he has been to Jared's lately?! HA!

ImageSo then we got ready for the day! The weather was beautiful and warm! So we headed up to one of our favorite places in the mountains. We packed all the snow gear and a picnic. We got up to the camp ground that we like to go to, and the road was snowed in. So we hiked down thru the snow and walked around for a few minutes. It was really deep though, and hard to walk. So we drove a little farther and found a pull off. Jason and I have never really been shooting together, so we found different targets and shot a box .22 shells, had our picnic and just enjoyed the afternoon! We finally headed back towards home after dark. We stopped at one of our favorite restaurants and grabbed dinner to go, then came home watched a few movies and just snuggled up in front of the fire.

I appreciate my husband so much! He is such a good sport at entertaining me! he always surprises me and never lets things get dull. I wouldn't know what to do without him around. It is such a blessing to finally have someone who truly understands me, loves me unconditionally, and is always there, even at my worst times! So Happy Valentines Sweetheart! I love you more than you will ever know!

I am finally learning!

Why do I always want to change my page? With a ton of work, I am finally understanding how to use this stupid blogger thing! Hope you like it! I still need to figure out how to make my header fit a little better, but it will do for now.
Anyway, I will update later tonight!

Let's Go Steelers!!!

So if you know me, you know I LOVE Football and I really LOVE the Steelers!

Image
My love for football comes from my Grandpa Schmidt always letting me watch it with him when I was little. He taught me all about it! I grew up with Sunday and Monday night football!
So I faithfully sat my butt on the couch and watched both playoff games yesterday.
Steelers and Cardinals are going to Superbowl XLIII!
Go Steelers!!!

Boring Update!

So I really don't have anything new to update! We are so boring! We have just been hibernating and trying to stay warm. It's still been -40 below or colder for the last few weeks now... No end in sight! We are surviving but it has taken a toll on our house... With cold weather comes freezing water pipes. Friday evening Jason was in the shower with shampoo in hair when the water just stopped. (I giggled as he rinsed in the sink with bottled water!) We had the garage door open 10 seconds too long, and froze the main well supply. It took 3 hours to thaw. It is unreal how fast it happens. It was only open long enough for Jason to pull his truck in and walk back out. That is the joy of home ownership. I still love my house!
Other than that, cheer is going good. We have a game tomorrow, so maybe if I remember to take some pictures I will update.
As for the rest of my life, I haven't seen anyone since I got home! I have been lazy! Work is work. That is all I have to say about that!
Hope everyone else is doing well!
