Girls Camp for Rachel

I would just like to say I took these pics with just a point-and-shoot. Not easy. Also I'm doing the blog post today. AWESOMENESS! Get ready to read an amazing blog post about an awesome camp.

Ok so our journey started out like any other, unpacked, did a swim test, then relaxed. Of course it didn't stay like any other.

Our first day and already we have an problem in the first 3 hours of being there! There are....RACCOONS in our ceiling. No it couldn't be sweet little chipmunks, but vicious raccoons. Once they told us this I was paranoid. Oh my gosh...they're right above....they could be listening to us (a few hours later I remembered that they're nocturnal.....:P)!

What really didn't help was I was on the top bunk. So we get the joy of moving cabins. All of our stuff PLUS our mattresses. It took some time but the cabin was FANTASTIC for camping. We have 2 people who are diabetic so they needed to store stuff in a cool place so we had to get a cabin and not a Adirondack. Thank goodness.

Our cabin was very cute and it even had a little porch in the front. You can see it below. Actually me and my friend made this thing like friends do and every time we'd go swimming, we would go to the "snack shack," get three snacks, and just sit on the porch steps and talk about what had happened during the day so far. She's in a different year then me so we don't know what's going on over there. It's definitely a memory to be cherished.

Ok, so this is our cute little cabin I was talking about. I love this cabin. Except for the fact that it let a squirrel come straight into our cabin, right near me as I was falling asleep, and scare the living heck out of me. We also named the squirrel. Alejandro Fernando Roberto Fluffy. Yes we also came up with a song.

Ahhh camp experiences. Not all of them are necessarily good, especially this one. A few days after I came home, still I expected to wake up and find a squirrel either on the ceiling or on my face. Thank goodness for concrete walls, and not just wood.

ImageMy dear friend for many years now. P.S. Congrats on getting your braces off! (she got them off after camp.)

ImageOne of my YCLs who was in our ward. She's super nice and I loved having her as my YCL.

ImageThis is our cabins little name plate. Everybody says its supposed to have a La in front of it.

ImageThis was our snack shack line on the busiest day. Otherwise it was never like this. I just thought it was hilarious.

ImageIt was my friends birthday over camp. I lured her out so my friends could decorate her bunk. I hope she had a really great birthday. Even though it was different.

ImageI made these at the craft barn. I thought they look pretty, so a took a pic. Only it was hard because the camera kept on focusing on my knee. Not the best picture.

ImageThis is one of my many great friends at church. She makes nicknames for everybody. It's quite fun to see what she comes up with next.

ImageHe he he.....my friend is kind of freaking me out with the eyes.....moving on......

ImageThis hair style was held up by a bottle of all things. Talk about recycling in many ways. When I saw this, I knew I had to take a picture.

ImageFor skit night my friend was " Super Girl" encouraging everyone to pray when they had a problem.

Image
Hahahahaha another skit night costume. She was a Indian ninja or something. Yes she is wearing a garbage bag drawn on by sharpie. Hey, in camp, you use whatever you have.

Image
My friend. I have a nickname for her now. Mellow yellow. She is the mellowest person I know. She's proud of it. But she's also really funny and nice at the same time. I'm not sure how that blends, but she can do it.

Image
One of my leaders and also one of dad's good friends had a car problem because certain people were listening to the radio without the car running... so they used up the battery. We had to help jump their car. My dad told me to take a picture.

Image
Girl's Camp was SOOOO fun and I cannot believe I have to wait a whole year to go back. Ugh. Counting down already.

Oh and I know what your thinking... the Best Morey blog post EVER! Jk ......sort of. ;)

Ethan's 6th Birthday

During one of our recent trips back to Rochester, we were able to celebrate Ethan's 6th Birthday with David's parents.

Image
ImageThe following day was Sunday and we took advantage of our church clothes to snap a quick group picture. Sarah was actually behind the camera at the time of this shot. Somehow she wasn't ready to cooperate and running seemed to be more fun ;).

2010 Hill Cumorah Pageant

Dave and I both grew up in the suburbs of Rochester, NY. For many Mormons, the big social thing to do during July was to either be in the Hill Cumorah Pageant, or see it for multiple performances.

This year, we knew that a couple of friends (both those that we grew up with, and those from here in MA) would be in town to see performances. Of course, they wouldn't be in town on the same night, so we ended up going two nights in a row! :-) We brought the kids the first night, and then just had a date night the second. Other than meltdowns from the two little girls, everyone had a great time, and its always fun to see who you'll run into when you go!

And of course, no trip to Rochester would be complete without a visit to Nick Tahou's to get a garbage plate!

Mike's 40th Birthday in Maryland

Our family had the opportunity to head down to Maryland to celebrate Mike 40th Birthday. Despite the long drive with 5 kids (including a 3 month old) it was well worth the trip. Happy Birthday Mike!

ImageBecky always has sets the right mood for any event.

The following day was pretty laid back. The boys hung out. David and Mike took off for a casual Kayak ride down a local river.

ImageMaybe its just my boys, but they really like playing video games ; )

ImageEach of Becky's pets stalked Sarah the entire trip. They knew it was "pay day" every time she ate.

Image
ImageWith June heat beating down on us, Becky blew up a small pool for the kids to cool off in.

ImageI might add, Rachel took each of the Kayaking pics. : )

ImageSilly isn't that we should look like we have triumphed over a small river like this. Particularly when we hadn't even started yet.

Image
ImageAfter yet another a great trip to see Becky and Mike, it was again time to head home.
