Now there is always a concern on the state of Indian statistical system. These days, you find a daily article on how inadequate our basic statistical system. First, there is so little official data on Indian economy and Second, whatever is of poor quality.
One major area is lack of any data on unemployment. Labour Bureau has been releasing a quarterly report on how employment has shaped in India since the global crisis in Sep-08. The report is a survey where information is collected from 2,558 units / establishments covering 21 centres spread across 11 States and union territory.
