Frames....made a change!

Image

Well for the last year my friend Heather and I have been selling picture frames online and had great success. But with success also comes stress. We were so busy that it was consuming my life. My family was being neglected, my house was needing serious attention, and I was having a breakdown about everyday for the last part of November and December. We shut the store down 2 weeks before Christmas so that we could actually enjoy our families and the holidays. Christmas was great and my kids loved opening there presents and seeing what Santa had brought them.

So the change that was made that Heather and I will now operate from separate shops. She will specialize in the single standard size frames and I will specialize in what I love to do best, the custom end of it. I will make my multi opening frames, memo boards, barnwood frames, etc.
ImageHere is a picture of a memo board that will be shipped out tomorrow. A lady from Pennsylvania ordered this. It measures 20"x48". Usually I put hooks at the bottom but she needed it with bulldog clips instead.

I love creating new things and especially love it when a customer gives me a new challenge.

My shop is run off of Etsy which is a wonderful site. People can sell the things they love to make. My store's website is www.mountainriverimages.etsy.com. Come and see some of the fun things I have made.

Fondant Cake & Frame!

Last week my friend had her 38th birthday so I attempted to make my first fondant cake. It was interesting to say the least. First I made the fondant which went pretty well considering I had never made it before or even watched anyone make it before. Then I baked the 2 - 8" round cakes and made the buttercream frosting. When the cakes were ready for frosting I made some vanilla pudding and put that in between the layers and sprinkled some huckleberries. I put it together and started frosting it and then realized it was still on the cooling rack. CRAP! So in my attempt to move it onto the cookie sheet the bottom fell apart and pudding started running out. I managed to keep it together enough to frost and figured who's going to know once the fondant is on. So the next day I rolled out the fondant and this is what my cake looked like. Not real attractive but let me tell you it was YUMMY! My friend loved it too. I also made her a collage picture frame to put her family portrait in and school pics for each of her kids. Even the baby on the way's picture.

Here's the cake

Fall is in the Air!

Saturday I went and took senior pictures for a girl at our high school and while we were out finding places to take pictures we ran across a couple of old chevrolets. Classic! I was so excited. You got to just love this picture.

Today my husband and I went for a drive to look for pretty places to take pictures. Well we ran across this area in the trees that was just full of golden ferns. Absolutely georgous. And of course it made for fabulous pictures. Here are our pics from the day. Got to love those fall colors.
