The End of an Era – #BiSC by Mikael

Oh, crap… my words!

Those words slipped out of my lips at the Farewell Brunch of BiSC this year–because quite simply, there are no adequate words to express the love, the support, the good times and everything that comes from 60+ bloggers converging on Las Vegas in friendship and shenanigans. Of course, I do have words… and I’ll share some about it here.

There’s a reason I couldn’t miss BiSC for a single year after my first adventure back in 2011–these people are amazing and some of the greatest friends I’ve ever had. That, and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself for getting all the jealousies over reading all the Twitter posts about it. And it’s more than worth it.

These are people who usually hide behind their computers writing but got out of their comfort zone to go meet dozens of strangers.

These people will lay in bed with you eating Fuzzy Peaches and Stroopwaffles in the morning, laughing all the while.

These are people who will 8-second hug you… then keep it going even longer. #allthelove

These people will drop “That’s what she said” comments so many times it’s like an automatic twitch.

These are people that you can tell your deepest, darkest secrets to and they will love and support you no matter what.

These are people who cry and keep their eyes open forever in staring contests because they are crazy-awesome like that.

These are people who won’t ever judge you and love you exactly as you are. No liquor required.

These are people who will unabashedly cheer their voices hoarse during the Flamingo Pool booty shaking competition where a couple of their own competed (and lost, but everyone told me I should have won–well, I did… last year.)

These are people that aren’t afraid to grab the most horrendous outfits and do a dancing parade in the middle of an H&M dressing room. Exhibit A:

These people will teach you how to braid because you’ve been doing it wrong your whole life.

These people can be present even when their phones are out… it’s not rude, yo.

These people will people watch with you at a club and speculate on why some belligerent woman is getting arrested outside Caesar’s Palace.

These people will wait in the crepe line with you so you don’t have to stand alone.

These are people who will do a zombie/Christian-Bale-Batman voice unannounced, scaring the crap out of all of us then making us bust into laughter.

These people fear not whether you drink out of their drink or pick off their plate.

These people will talk about sex toys and scary “never have I evers” as though it is completely normal to do so.

These people will discreetly pull down your slip beneath your dress in public when your ass is hanging out of it. And also tell you when that is happening immediately. Same goes for having chocolate dripping down your face from the buffet chocolate fountain (THANKS!)

These people will go out for pizza and heart-to-hearts at 3:30 in the morning.

These people sing The Little Mermaid, Avenue Q and many other things with you out loud in public without shame.

These people will bring you treats and chocolate from their home country (Canada and Netherlands), making your taste buds and tummies sing joyous tunes.

These people will dance you silly, any time, any place… even without music. They make their own.

These people will dress to the nines, whether that’s all in white (“Are you all getting married?”), Mad Men-themed, or black, white, and gold!

These people will make you question your priorities and what you’re doing in your life–making you want to take your own life to the next level.

These people are old friends. These people are new friends. These people are my TRIBE.

These are people who dread parting each other so they find places to relax and chat until, inevitably, time runs out and all the hugs and tears come out too.

(And I feel like I could go on and on and on and on like this about all of the BiSCuits.)

At the end of it all, I feel like I’ve made some of the best friends in the world (and all over the world too!) in only a few days. I miss them so much already. My body and emotional state still haven’t recovered.

A humongous thank you goes to Nicole for putting this on for the past five years. The woman is an effing rockstar and one of my idols. I’ll be doing her 30-day Sugar Detox in June… care to join me?

Yet again, BiSC is the best weekend of the year and I’m sad to know it won’t be back next May. But that doesn’t mean I can’t go visit my new friends and that they can’t come visit me in Utah.

Any of you BiSCuits reading–I have a couch and a queen-size bed! I don’t mind sharing. ;)

BiSC helped break me out of my bubble of over-thinking things. That first year (2011), I started taking more chances and trusting that things would turn out alright even if I just… leapt. And I frickin’ landed among some of the most amazing people in one of the funnest cities in the world.

And like I said in my little speech at the Farewell Brunch on Sunday, “It was the best chance I ever took.”

So pretty much… yeah… my words. All the words can be summed up in this: BiSC is the very best. Ever.

Combining the two months this time. I want to get this done before the New Year. Things got crazy so here we go!

November was… a struggle but a good opportunity to assess what I really want to do.

December was… the most ideal holiday month ever.

Passing of my brilliant step-sister Joana. Hours making a memorial video. Learning a new song for said memorial, which was lovely. Hitting the harsh realization that she’s not around anymore.

National Novel Writing Month commitment and completion. NaNoWriMoose, aka: the awesome SLC group of people doing NaNoWriMo with me, and my new friends. Free books from the SLC City Library. New glasses.

Audition for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Finding out how to improve auditions from the director. Then auditioned for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at Centerpoint… and got cast! More composing of music! Release of my single on music distribution websites!

Introduced to new TV shows like Dead Like Me and Eli Stone. The mid-season finale for all my favorite shows. Discovery of Spotify. Niece Night. Dark Knight marathon. Cornholio interruptions. Prepping of my body for the Whole30.

Busy, busy time at work: magazine, policy guide, Employer’s Toolbox and more!

Coming out ahead in gambling. And the first Vegas night that included everything that should happen on a night in Vegas. Super fun but definitely not looking to do it all again any time soon. ;)

Holiday Stuff:

Thanksgiving in Vegas with my dad. Zoo Lights! Grand America displays with my baby niece. Wandering downtown in the snow, meeting new people, making new friends, shopping and the Jingle Bus. Christmas Angel. Cheeseball Party. Christmas wrapping with Christmas movies. Lots of chocolate oranges. Silver Bell Celebration. White Christmas up in Park City. Karaoke Secret Santa. Low key New Year with my dad, step-mom and dogs.

New Movies Seen: Breaking Dawn Pt. 2 (pretty good!), 21st Jump Street, Project X, Beer Tales, the original Miracle on 34th Street, Like Crazy (love completely) and Les Miserables.

Shows Seen: The Christmas Carol at Pioneer, The Christmas Carol at Hale Centre Theatre, and the Anberlin concert in SLC.

New Obsessions: I Will Prevail. Spotify. Dirty Chai. Coffee Bean (curse them for not being in Utah).

Top 5 Posts from Something Write in December: in the stars, dance with me, like the movies, turning christmas and my christmas list.

Blips of June by Mikael

Filed under: A Little Me, Blips, Family, Fitness, Friends, RaNdOm, Remembering, Vegas!

So I totally neglected on writing stuff down for June. This will be interesting to see how much I actually remember (or scramble from my Twitter/Facebook feed).

June was …

Lots of fun!

Weekend in California for my cousin’s wedding. Many twisted Shirley Temples. Cloudy beach day complete with a pod of dolphins. New parasol from the bride and groom. Anglophile moments in the Ayres Hotel gift shop. Red Mango dates. Rolling down the hills of Sugar House Park with my best friend from Wyoming.

ImageImage

The weekend of intense auditions and call backs with Brock for Aida and 9 to 5. Emotional torment waiting for cast lists. Getting cast in Aida, but turning it down for my own sanity (and gas money). High anticipation and excitement for the copywriting workshop with Ash from The Middle Finger Project (the first class was amazing!). Going full-time at the Salt Lake Chamber. Cool live-tweeting for the Chamber events. Fun at the Salt Lake Chamber Classic Golf Tournament, aka: driving a golf car for the first time. Meeting golf legend, Billy Casper.

Image

Operation: Fit & Fierce. Getting back into my Zumba & Pole Fitness routine. Adding yoga back into the mix. Free time for me. Reunion with BiSC-uits Sara & Ameena. Trying German food for the first time. A day at the pool at the Grand America. Disco Murder Mystery night with old friends! Lots of days spent with my adorable niece. Gambling with my dad, step-mom and brother in Vegas for Father’s Day weekend (Bro and Step-mom won 82 bucks and didn’t realize it). Awesome Skype chats with good friends. Happy meals with Pokemon toys.

ImageImage

A night of amazing music with Scott Alan and some of the most talented musicians in the Salt Lake valley–I cried many times. Got the brown back in my hair.

Last two weeks at ABC 4–I shall miss them all! Spiders in my bedroom. Mornings at the chiropractor + massages = a healed lower spine. Deceptive nights. A week of sinusitus. New perspective on crappy situations.

One of my favorite covers this year: Don’t Forget Me from Smash.

New Obsessions: Thor, or Chris Hemsworth. Notes from the Universe. Hazelnut Fazer chocolates. Kelly Clarkson’s new CD. Corey, my new exercise ball.

New Movies Seen: The Cabin in the Woods, Thor, The Avengers, That’s My Boy.

Books I Finished: Accidental Billionaires – The Founding of Facebook (after several months finally). Hollowland by Amanda Hocking (so riveting I couldn’t put it down!). Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult (finished it in one day… so good!). Actually finished all three within the span of 3 days. No joke.

Top 5 Posts from Something Write: The Very Last, bittersweet farewell, Not Alone, Tugging and Pulling and pour me another.
Honorable mention: not worthy.

May… Wow. Just wow. I feel like so much has happened this month that it’s hard to know where to begin.

May was …

The start of things changing.

All the BiSC-ness = ALL THE HAPPY FEELINGS!

The anniversary of my college graduationAlways dancing!  Like a Cinco de Drinco Zumba master class and a spontaneous class when another was cancelled and I wasn’t aware.  Swings and parks.  Brock time.  A comfy place.  The need to perform.  Nice Mother’s day at my aunt’s house.  The return of our Finnish hockey player!  More time with my darling niece.  Seeing my dad and puppies.  Dressing up my puppies.

Image

Dreams returned.  Random OCD moment of organizing video games and fixing our N64.  Blind date set up my my grandmother (of all people… really?).  Bees game.  More butterflies over lunch.  Becoming certifiably social media addicted again (because of BiSC obviously!).  New aviators.  A good interview.  The Avengers. Excitement over copywriting workshop with The Middle Finger ProjectSolar eclipse and Super moon!

Image
Image

Near quarter-life crisis.  My inability to eat peanut butter cups and play Times Up at the same time.  Too many season finales that made me cry Broken sunglasses.  Strange increase in attention that has me scratching my head.  Mother’s Day with my mom out of town.  Funky sunburns.  Weekend with darling yet challenging boys who move soon (sad day…).  Lower spine issues.  Two-weeks notice.

New cover: Hit Me With Your Best Shot for my mom for Mother’s Day.

New Obsessions: Les Miserables trailer. Carrie Manolakos. Hollie Cavanaugh. Learning how to self-publish and strongly considering it… that is, once I finish a story. Draw Something. Blue Lemon. Drinks mentioned by Bill Engvall, aka: Mai Tai & Bahama Mama. Sabrina, my new Macbook Pro.

What is your most memorable moment from May?

All the BiSC-ness by Mikael

Bloggers in Sin City.

Really there aren’t enough incredible words and expressions that can cover everything that is BiSC. I just like to call it The Weekend of the Year. It’s that awesome, okay?! I’m still trying to recover.

To give you some idea, here is what I came home with:Image

  • around 25 new friends,
  • more time to hang with 25 old friends from last year, (numbers not accurate, but close enough!)
  • a booty shaking title complete with a 21 oz. custom made drink with an awesome pink Flamingo cup & X Burlesque class passes,
  • a bag filled with amazing swag from even more amaze-ball sponsors,
  • more perspective on the sexual and sensual things thanks to Zumanity and Jenn,
  • a funky sun burn on my back that looked like a bandage thanks to my poor sunscreen spraying skills,
  • a cute and far too short H&M dress that I didn’t end up wearing for Mad Men night like I planned (oh, and a Beavis and Butthead shirt since I couldn’t leave H&M without it),
  • my roomie Sara‘s book and her shoes since she packed in the dark and forgot (the silly girl),
  • more Pop Chips than I could hold,
  • and around 2 pounds because the 12+ hours of dancing clearly didn’t negate the countless buffets and fruity drinks.

It was just as amazing as last year, if not moreso. BiSC has a really special kind of magic … where everyone is a friend right off the bat, time goes by too fast and by the time it’s all over, you cling to each other (almost suffocatingly so–but you love it!) because you simply don’t want to leave their presence.

And there’s one other little fact … No one does Vegas like BiSCuits. I mean it, nobody.

Image

Who else would spend an day at the pool, playing with glitter balls, getting rum shot in their mouths via water gun, cheering on the girl on the stage and shaking her rump like no one’s biznez (that would be me, thank you), playing “Never Have I Ever…” and winning sex toys if you get out quickly (which I think is backwards…ha!)?

Who else would gorge their faces at the best buffets in town before hitting up the dance floor for 5 hours?

Who else would jump in a Vegas fountain with an episode of Cops filming nearby?

Who else would stay up all night and then do it all again starting at 9 in the morning?

Who else would sing Little Mermaid at 3 a.m. while eating pork-pulled nachos/fries?

Who else would make you laugh and cry because of the most ridiculous things ever but they actually make sense?

And who else would do a full-body awkward turtle in the middle of a restaurant?

BiSCuits would. And that’s why I love them!

Image

Seriously, Thursday through Sunday were some of the best days I’ve had in a super long time. A big thank you needs to go to Nicole, Rachael and Doni for making it all possible. You ladies rock my ever-lovin’ socks!

Now for a few highlights…

First off, I must mention my roomie again. Sara’s quick wit immediately got to me… she kept me laughing quite a bit. She had some hilariously awesome comebacks. To kick off BiSC, we even had a cute mini cheers moment. Not to mention the fact that we are both Grey’s Anatomy fans! SQUEE! So we definitely watched the finale together while piled on top the super comfy Flamingo beds. She’s adorable. Really.

Image

Roomies!

The ice-breaker event at Carlos ‘N Charlies was seriously cool. The game of returning 4×6 business/blogger cards to the person they name was a great way for me to put faces with names. Thanks to this, I can say that I knew 95% of the names very quickly. Now I have handy cards I can give to people. ;)

Following that was Serendipity 3. Oh, the Serendipity! I wouldn’t have been surprised if I had chocolate lining my lips–everything was so scrumptious! Not to mention the fact that they served my absolute favorite Reisling (Loosen Brothers).

Image

Every night from Thursday to Saturday was a dance party somewhere! Whether that was at Diablo’s, Chateau or Margaritaville… that was seriously awesome in my book. More dancing I say! So glad I brought flats and not heels to Vegas this time.

Image

I can’t explain my face here, so I won’t. Go Rachael! ;)

Friday was the pool day, which I went over everything pretty much above… haha! It was nice to finally claim the booty-shaking title that I should have won last year. I owe a big thanks to the BiSCuits who were campaigning for me throughout the pool. Love you guys!

Image

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

Next up… the sex-on-the-stage production of Zumanity. Yeah, not what I was expecting. I was literally expecting everyone to be dressed up in jungle animal costumes and paint (Zu=Zoo? Anyone?) but BOY was I wrong. I saw boobies. Lots of boobies. The show was all about sex–there was never actually real sex on the stage though (thank goodness). My favorite was the hula hoop girl who managed to twirl about a hundred hoops around her person for a while. It was impressive. What else was impressive was how good the man playing host played a woman. I couldn’t tell the difference! The comedic hosts were awesome and cracked me up at every turn. And when the audience involvement is as high as it was in Zumanity, it can’t help but be a good show. I don’t think there was a dry seat in the house that night … whew!

Saturday morning was a hoot as CrushHub joined us for breakfast and help set up Amber on a date! Of course, she chose the 8-pack Costa Rican surfer. :P Personally, I would have chosen the BiSCuit that was thrown into the mix. Haha!

At dinner on Saturday, we did have a surprise guest (ahem, 50 of them) … the Miss America pageant ladies showed up at the same buffet we did! They looked like plastic — the ones I saw, anyway — and wore way too much makeup. But it was cool to see them! It was at that buffet where Brandi had me in tears talking about tacos. Yeah… good times.

Image

Then it was Chateau at Paris… yeah. Everyone looked so nice and fancy in their Mad Men attire that I didn’t feel my H&M purchase fit very well… so I wore the outfit I originally planned on. But once we got to the club–No words. Aside from dancing on the chairs… perhaps tall horse man … oh, and the short man (wearing creepy contacts) who looked scarily like the one who awarded me my booty shaking title! Weird realization afterwards. HA.

Sunday… oh, the farewells. I can’t even say it’s bittersweet because they are really just sad. I was the one suggesting that we barricade/blow up all the exits to the Flamingo Hotel so everyone would have to stay forever. I liked that plan.

A few did stick around though and we made our traditional pit stop at In-And-Out and played the Sneaky Snake. Can’t go wrong with that. And a special explanation of bird sex is pretty hilarious, if I may say so.

Image

I’m just so happy that there was both people that I knew and people that I didn’t know coming into BiSC this year. A lot of the people I really bonded with last year returned and it was like we got to do it all over again… but knowing each other better. Then I got to meet a host of new people who are just as equally awesome!

I don’t know what it is about BiSCuits, but they are really the kindest, wackiest, most fun, open-minded, bestest and just the rocking-est rock stars ever. It’s so hard to explain because everyone is just that cool. And yes, I did just link to about half of the people who came. You should check them all out. No joke.

I know I missed linking people and mentioning all the names — but really I love everyone who went. If you’re a BiSCuit, I love you. Simple as that. I know there were some of you I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with, but there’s not a person I didn’t get splendid vibes from. So there.

Best. Weekend. Ever. Again.

So who’s going back next year?

PS: As for more sponsor stuff… keep an eye out on my Twitter account. I’ll be posting my feedback there. Oh, except you will see my tribute to Le Bon Garcon on Something Write.

A BiSC-traction… by Mikael

Filed under: A Little Me, Futuristic Musings, Good Things, Happy Dance Time, Updates, Vegas!

I must be a glutton for punishment… In order to be productive, distractions must be relinquished from the brain. And due to the nature of the biggest distraction, blogging seemed fitting.

So today– finish up my blog work for Park City TV around 2-ish. Low and behold, that’s the last productive thing I’ve done all day. I mean besides finishing Catching Fire (and now aching to pick up Mockingjay, but a girl needs to get a grip on at least something).

Wanna know what derailed me? Odds are if you are reading this, you may already have a hint.

Yep, you got it. #BiSC. Bloggers in Sin City. AKA: The Most Amazing Weekend Known to Both Mankind and the Animal Kingdom.

Today was registration day! I remember last year when I literally made the decision to go on a whim and it turned out to be one of the very best decisions I made in 2011. Undoubtedly one of the best weekends of my life!

With my new job stuff this year, I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to go this year. Over the weekend I asked my boss since I’m asking super-ahead-of-time if this trip would be doable. He said it could totally be fine! Cue screaming like a school girl.

So I charged my MasterCard with the registration fee, promptly hid the little piece of plastic among my books so I can’t use it, and filled out the form just so I can say this… I’M GOING BACK TO BISC!  I have the button in my sidebar to prove it!

Since I’ve registered, practically all my thoughts are going around like this in my brain: Who’s coming back? YAY we get to do Sin City all over again together! Oh, who’s that girl? She’s new; she seems awesome. Let’s be friends! Man… I wonder how long it will take for me to pay this off. Eh, not long since I have 4 PT jobs–oh, wait there’s a free BiSC giveaway??!! Why shouldn’t I read all the bios on the BiSC website? It’s like getting to know these people (plus new ones!) all over again! I mean, when else would I get time? Seriously? Ooh, my gosh. There are new guys coming too! How exciting! Gosh, everyone is/seems SO cool. I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL MAY!

Do you want to know what would be even cooler? Getting to attend for free! Paper’d, a kickass iPhone design app due to be released next month, is sponsoring a free BiSC experience to one of the 60 bloggers who have registered to attend. I’ve been on the email list for Paper’d for months now because it is the baby of the people behind Shatterboxx and they are pretty much the best web designers ever. I’m in love with the websites that they’ve Shatterboxxed (and I can’t wait to do that with my iPhone). So seriously… how can I not enter for a chance at this awesome giveaway? ;)

Now that I’m all BiSC-ed out (actually, not really but it’s a lot less absorbing now), I can finish getting some work done. That is, if I can keep myself away from Mockingjay… seriously why do I get so addicted to books?!

Wishing happy heart boners for all!

Blips of December by Mikael

December surely was a crazy month. Most of it has been fun, don’t get me wrong, but… dang… a lot of stuff went down and not all of it good. Luckily for you, I like documenting mostly the good stuff. Be warned though: An entire paragraph below will be dedicated to Thoroughly Modern Millie happenings. ;)

December was…

Emotional.

The last of Thoroughly Modern Millie rehearsals. Awesome opening and closing night cast parties. Dressing room dance parties. Killer dresses. Washing 2 pounds of hair spray out of my hair for days (not to mention the layers and layers of makeup). Documenting the wonderful hairstyles my wonderful friend Ryon made with my hair. Doing a scene all while either being poked by a safety pin or with only one earring. Silently cracking up backstage because of the hilarity on stage. Hearing that I should be making it big from a big PR guy (why can’t a guy hook a girl up?!). A man confessing his love for me after one show. Making friends with the adorable stage hands who brought me Reese Sticks during intermission. Humongous family cheers that made my day–love them! A fantastic run of a fun show with a cast that I fell in love with. Performing!!!

Image

Hilarious moments at our Christmas party. No cavities. Over thinking. Cold sores again. Crooning dog. Ice cream dates with adorable surprises. Soul sisters!Attending a Pagan Yule ritual (so cool!) while trying not to hack up a lung (not so cool… stupid cats). In too deep. Sporadic Christmas shopping. Sub for Santas. Donating every chance I got. New things!

The return of my Double Whammy Saturdays (Pole Fitness & Zumba). Singing duets with awesome friends. Late night chats. New rockin‘ Zumba classes closer to home! Pretty red nails that last! Discovering that I’m most productive at coffee houses. Lots of poems. Happy weight again!

Owning my online identity. Learning and excelling at using a curling iron on myself! Fun audition week at Park City TV to be an intern. Job offer from ABC 4! One kiss to add to the top of the memorable list (should I do an update? that post was a while ago and lots of kissing has happened since)…

Image

Flying down to Vegas for Christmas with my dad. Too much sleep. Too much relaxing. Way too much food. A poolside Zumba sesh. Playing with my puppies. Being introduced to DragonVale. Becoming addicted to DragonVale. Reading The Hunger Games, The Cloud Prophet Series and The Accidental Billionaires. Watching A Christmas Story for the first time. A Venetian Christmas outing. Seeing The Darkest Hour with Vegas buddies.

Image

Fender-benders and flat tires. A kick-ass replacement for Akasha while she gets fixed. Broken Macbook charger. Strange coughing attacks. Inspiration for a new story. Magic in the snow. A private midnight tour of a 5-diamond resort. Awesome recording and mixing times on my newest cover!

Giving my soul sister the courage to get her New Year’s kiss from a stranger. Saying goodbye to 2011. Throwing snow confetti on people while screaming “Happy New Year!”

Blips of…
July ~ August ~ September ~ October ~ November

Blips of October by Mikael

What a month… what a MONTH!  Yes, October is over and my jaw is on the floor. This year has gone by so stinkin’ fast that I haven’t had time to tie my shoes yet!  Joking, but still.  Seriously, Father Time? Haven’t you heard the phrase “slow and steady win the race”?  You’re treating us like that damn hare who can’t even make it to the finish line! :P

Okay, I really digress back to what happened this October. It was a good one. Emotion filled one. Not so celebration filled since I barely celebrated my birthday and Halloween. Still had a blast though. =)  Now for the nitty-gritty.

July ~ August ~ September

October was…

Image

Attending the LDS General Conference with friends and family–amazing experience.  A moose family and a couple bucks passing through our backyard.  A nasty cold that Zumba couldn’t cure.  Checking out buying a new Subaru so I can make it up the mountain to my house.  Very sad when Steve Jobs left this world for the next.  First snow of the season.  New heating blanket to save myself from the biting mountain cold.  Getting baptized!  Awesome after-party with family too.

Horror movie marathons.  Learning new and obscure words from @way2sharp.  Looking back on my 22nd year.  My birthday month!  Mani-pedi’s with my mom.  Visiting My Man on my layover to Sacramento.  Four flights in less than 80 hours.  Exploring Old Sac Town and finding a lovely Halloween costume.  Delicious pre-wedding and wedding food.  Too many Shirley Temples.  Mucho dancing at said wedding.  A very strange pastor at said wedding too… Rehearsals for Thoroughly Modern Millie.  A new favorite sushi roll: The Red Dragon.

Image

The abandonment of my ridiculously glitchy Droid in exchange for my new addicting iPhone 4S that quacks at me whenever someone sends me a message… Love it!  More chapters added to Alpenglow (this story is my baby if you can’t tell–I’m determined to finish it!).  Countless hours spent reading The Book of Mormon, The Emerald Talisman, The Sapphire Talisman, and Everblue.  Playing with Siri way too much…

Image

Baking yummy peanut butter cupcakes with a wonderful old friend.  Polishing up my full-length script for my grad school app to UCLA.  The release of the The House of Night: Destined book.  Attending an oddly depressing, yet sometimes beautiful, choir concert with my lava. Seeing the amazing dancing antics of Thriller by Odyssey Dance Company.  Better journaling habits, even for my dreams!  Becoming obsessed with John Boy and his Nocturnal Circus EP.  First YouTube videos posted since August to celebrate Halloween.

One last road trip to Las Vegas, then to LA over Halloween for USC graduate information session with my old baby… and of course, to see My Man! =) Spooktacular story!  Soon to be expecting a new baby.  Stay tuned for more on that! ;)

*  *  *

Quite a turbulent month if I may say so! November I may be as broke as blue balls and as busy as a queen bee, but I’m going to try my hardest to enjoy every darn tootin’ second of it.

Saying Saturday XX: BiSC Edition by Mikael

Volume 20 of Saying Saturday! I am constantly amazed at how high that number climbs… the quotes this time span quite a while but are still nonetheless entertaining (and I hope you think so too)! BiSC quotes included!!

If you’ve missed previous Saying Saturdays and wish to see them, go here! =)

*   *   *

In a Skype call where my Aussie penpal and I were discussing the placement of my laptop…

Me: Where would you rather be: on my lap or between my knees?

During Water for Elephants on our girls’ day out where Reese Witherspoon and Rob Pattinson have a few… chemistry-ridden scenes.

Shaka: … I want to be an actress now.

(Shaka is my Zumba instructor. She picked her name.)

After the movie… (which was amazing by the way)

Me: I have a lot more respect for Robert Pattinson as an actor after seeing this film… He can really hold his own especially against Reese and Christoph.
Shaka: I already knew that.
Natty: Me too.
Me: Shining does not count as acting.
Tonya: Actually, he sparkled.

At lunch with the girls after the movie…

Me: Those chicken balls are good!

Shaka: All that yummy sauce and no balls…

Now some quotes from the sports interns that I will no longer have the pleasure of working with…

Connor: I will write a play! “To be… or not to drink. That is the question.”

Connor: You know, sit out in the sun with a beer–
Me: You drink beer?
Connor: Well, root-beer.

Here is an awesome conversation between one of the funniest employees from my sports internship. He tends to joke around a lot…

C: She was wearing a sweater that read “Huskies”. Why do we have Washington people here?
Me: There’s a local high school with huskies as their mascot, so she’s probably from there. You know? The Hillcrest Huskies in Murray?
C: First, I’d appreciate it if your eyes weren’t screaming at me. Second, I’d appreciate you not correcting me. And third, thanks for being pretty.

My brother went to Reno to pick up his new car…

Bro: I feel a little weird about a man named Coco picking me up in Reno.

Talking about some woman’s boobs that are supposedly ginormous with my step-brother…

Jake:  It’s not cleavage! More like… cleave-land!

(like Cleveland! XD)

One of my guy friends at a bar after which point I told him I’d like him to drunk text me sometime because apparently he comes up with quotes like this all the time when he’s drunk…

I’m sick of being broke! I just want a yacht, supermodels, and cocaine.

And his drunk text to me the other night…

Well, here is your drunk text, because i’m drunk: I want to see your boobies. And do lots of cocaine off of them… on a yacht of course!

He sent another one a couple weeks later:

Very drunk. Texting. Something about your bosom. K bye.

Then the next day he proceeded to ask me if he texted me. I said yes. He asked if he mentioned my boobs (he always does). How I find friends like this, I’ll never know… but it’s highly entertaining!

Now for some of my favorite BiSC quotes that I managed to write down/remember:

Seeing the flamingos at… the Flamingo Hotel! Whoda thunk it?

Me: Oooh, flamingos!
Ameena: … Oh, my god! They’re real!

Discussing guys/being single/etc. with Mich

Me: I go through guys like I do… chocolate bars. All too quickly and far too many… but they are just so delicious!

Ameena: Price is Right is in our bathroom!

At brunch…

Carly: I just launched  a sausage at a man.

Jayme: Dancing with the Stars has nothing on Absinthe. (via Twitter)

Describing all that is BiSC

Caryn: On a scale of 1 to Ape-Shit: this is Gorilla-Shit.

Attempting to give sexy dancing pointers…

Me: Just think of moving your hips like you would if you were having sex…
Cat: I’m good at sex so I can do that!

And let me just say… she had the men drooling! ;)

Post-BiSC….

Simone: We’re like the second to last season of LOST. We need to go back to the island. #BiSC (via Twitter)

And pretty much anything Nicole said… I wish I could remember more, so if any of you BiSCuits can remember some, I’d love to hear/read them so post them below! =)

Thanks everyone for tuning in! Have a fantabulous weekend!

One BiSC of a weekend… by Mikael

So… BiSC. Bloggers in Sin City. All 58 of us. A weekend of laughter, tears amid said laughter, and perhaps most important of all… a weekend of friends. A weekend none of us will forget.

Okay, my mushiness quota is more than complete. Simply, last weekend was one of the best weekends of my life! It was so utterly fantastic that I realized that there is no way I can encompass that kind of fantastic-ness in a blog post. So I’ve decided to compile a list of some of the awesomest shenanigans from last weekend.

First off, I must say that I’m floored by the relationships that we all created and developed in such a short amount of time. Those four days feel like months and yet I wish they could have gone on longer. Much longer. Everyone I met came with an open heart and mind, ready to make friends. It was amazing! That’s just the way of the bloggers though, isn’t it? Laying it all out on the webs so by the time you meet another in person, it’s like a the friendship seed was already planted a rose is about to bloom. But yes… that was infinitely the best part. I feel like I made so many wonderful friends that I’m going through major withdrawals.

Now onto some wonderful-ness from BiSC.

Meeting Nicole. I seriously felt like I was reading her blog… but she was in front of me. She is exactly like I ever imagined her and more. I could listen to her tell stories all day.

Blogger Bingo. Sponsored by the lovely Molly. This is where all the bloggers started some relationships on our first night together during happy hour. Chelsea and I sang “My Heart Will Go On” together. I met my blog celeb, LiLu/Rachael. But then I learned someone won and no one else was participating anymore even though I wanted to keep going… oh well!

Running the Strip. Christa headed the group and ran a butt load while Tara and I ran/walked to Mandalay Bay and back to the Flamingo. Wonderful way to wake up and get my blood pumping to make up for yummy goodness later!

Grey’s Roomie Time. My roomie Ameena and I are both avid fans of Grey’s Anatomy… and on Friday morning we settled on her bed to watch the finale! Though it left something to be desired, I loved that she and I could share that together.

Being nervous to compete at a booty shaking contest. At the side of the Flamingo pool. The first day, a couple people came to support (THANK YOU!) and aside from the bachelorette party, I got the loudest cheers. WOOT! Oh, and another victory was not getting sunburned.

La Vita Dolce moment with Carly, my new lover, in the waterfall at the Flamingo pool. Then starting a mini-dance in the pool with Moosealicious.

Dinner at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris with Bob, Suki, Carly, Nico, and Cat. Delicious food. Wonderful company–major laughs. Plus a magnificent view of the Bellagio fountain show since we sat outside.

Tongue-asms at The Sugar Factory Chocolate Lounge at Paris. Chocolate and red velvet martinis. Chocolate dipping. Cute guys working there to tell me delightful combos to make my eyes roll (BONUS!). Topped off with the Disneyland equivalent of a candy store that gave me yummy gelato.

Absinthe. Awe-inspiring. Vulgar. Gasp-inducing. Hilarious. Stunt-filled. Music filled. Hot man filled (helloooooo, washboards that made Jayme screaming her room number next to my ear). Burlesque! Circus! Penny! Plus my new favorite quote… “If you’re offended by the words shit and f*ck… you’re at the wrong f*cking show!”

Free table and bottle service at Le Chateau at Paris. DING-DING-DING! Helluva night dancing on the clubs beautiful balcony with new friends including those mentioned above along with Caryn, Tiff, Germana, Ginny, and Katherine… all for virtually nothing (only $15 for each of us for gratuity for everything… good, right?).

Late night cheese fries with Bob and Tiff. Amazing after a night of dancing at 4 a.m., just saying.

Sushi and sweet potato fries at brunch at the Mirage with Ameena, Carly, Crowning Venus, and Simone. A sausage-flinging good time!

Having a surprise guest at the Flamingo pool to host the Booty Shaking Contest. Which I competed in with a much bigger crew of BiSCuits supporting (hearts to you all)! I totally drew the most cheers but the DJ picked a girl with no butt, minimal booty shaking skills, and boobs just because she grinded up on other girls. Totally trashy. I like to think I kept it classy. I thought either the girl doing the splits or I would have one. We both easily got more cheers than the last girl, so WTF? Oh, well… That surprise guest? BABY BASH! And he gave an impromptu live performance… check it out! Oh, and do you see me?

Guess what he said when I took the stage? “Damn! White girl got donk!” Hells ya! His entourage liked me most (in particular Angel Dust of the Stooie Bros.) and said that I should have won… as did everyone else who approached me in the hotel until I left on Sunday. Awkward but totally flattering. So… in a way, I won? HAHA! Honorary booty shaking contest winner! ;)

Getting tarot cards read poolside with James Bond, Cat and Off Beat Report.

BWG night/impromptu bachelorette party for Kaci at Pure in Caesars Palace! Everyone looked so fancy I just could barely contain myself. And we got to skip the line at Pure and got first dibs on the dance floor! Someone “kneeded” me a bit too much but if that hadn’t happened, I wouldn’t have been right outside the club icing my knee when Will.I.Am stood right by me and I totally saw him. He’s short. And I’ve heard he’s a douche. But that still doesn’t dampen the epic-ness of seeing him in person as I admire him as a musician.

The farewell brunch… that extended into a tea party… and then the Sneaky Snake at In-and-Out. Yeah. There were a few of us that just didn’t want to say goodbye such as Bob, Terra, Maxie, Jenn, and I. Well… they just had later flights to catch and I was in no rush to say goodbye to such good new friends.

If you can’t tell, I had an utterly amazing time! Be sure to check out the two epic videos that Apocalypstick made of her footage of the weekend. She’s a riot. And the vids are bomb-sauce.

I know I didn’t mention everyone but I really had a great time with everyone there! There were so many little moments that were amazing as well as these major highlights. Trying to fit those in a blog post would be pretty ridiculous though… so if you’re reading this and weren’t mentioned, do NOT think you were forgotten because you most definitely weren’t and never will be. In fact, all of you have been featured on my Reading page (with special names–but I haven’t gotten to do everyone yet).
