i'm so crafty!

so on behalf of my big college adventure (whoo! :)), i made a ribbon fabric picture board thing! and it's adorable. plus, it was fun and easy to make! so i'm gonna tell you all about it :)

we already had canvases from when we were planning on doing this a while ago, so we went to hobby lobby (one of my favorite places ever...i could spend hours there. oh wait, i'm pretty sure i have!) and picked out some batting and some cute fabric and ribbon and brads and came home and got started!
i stapled the batting to the canvas, and then stapled on the fabric. it was a little crooked the first time, and i knew that would just drive me crazy. so i fixed it. and then i put on one half of the ribbon...

then i stapled on the other half...(i had to redo them just a little bit because they weren't quite tight enough to actually hold any pictures up, which is kinda the entire point, so...)

then i stuck in some cute sparkly brads (i poked holes in with a pushpin first so they would go in easier) and painted clear nail polish on the ends of the fabric so they wouldn't fray a bunch, and did some double stapling for extra reinforcement, and ta da! it was all done!

isn't it just darling? i'm excited about it. i'm hanging it right above my bed next to my whiteboard and something else i can't remember at the moment. and it's gonna be great. basically, vera and i are gonna have the best dorm room at helaman...or all of byu. or something like that. :)

a week from today...

i'll be running off to college! and in a week and 2 days at this time, i'll be done with my first 3 big-time college classes!
now that's just weird. i'm pretty sure it hasn't been that long since i was like this:

since when did i get so old?! it's crazy. 

BUT i am SO excited for byu!!! i'm excited to meet my roommate, vera, who seems super cute and fun, i'm taking some really great classes, and everything about it will just be such a blast! (minus leaving home...we're not talking about that part.)

so i'm packing everything up and running errands and hanging out with friends that are staying home (whom i will miss terribly) and shopping at target (...for college essentials, of course) and all sorts of great stuff! it'll be great! wish me luck! :)

charming charlie's...how, well...charming!

so on saturday, i did some chilling with a few of my dear, hilarious, fantastic friends. and i was introduced to charming charlie's. my life will probably never be the same again, and i just have to say i really wish i would've known about this place when i still was going to all those fantastic school dances...my life would've been a whole lot easier. and probably happier. haha. and, for your enjoyment (and as part of my new resolve to take more pictures) lots of photo proof of a good time!

my first steps inside! big moment, people. (so it kinda looks like i'm about to cry...? that's not how it happened, promise. haha)

we're all in awe of it's complete fabulous-ness. 

this place has everything. in every color imaginable. it's insane.

they have hats of all shapes, sizes, and colors...(which happen to be the funnest to take pictures with, apparently)

aw, baby charly...

they have bags potentially big enough to put a whole person in...

headbands...

scarves printed with all sorts of things, some of which make no sense...like the pineapple.

shirts that magically perfectly match your nail color...

all sorts of lovely things :) 

our charming friend samuel also joined us for the event!

and he also tried on some of the apparel. how masculine. haha

and then he realized he was modeling women's jewelry. baha.

we all found some marvelous tiaras. ...including samuel. haha

charly was excited about all the sparkly everything.

sam was shocked.

but then he was happy for our dear jenny :) (this actually kinda looks like he's the one that went to charlie's...not true. haha. thank goodness--we can't have our little jenita getting hitched quite yet! and especially not samuel--he's much too young! seniors...ha. :))

charles and i are all prepared to head up to byu! gotta scare off all those boys somehow! ;)

but jennifer's sad...she's going to little mcc without us and without a ring...pobrecita. 

but jenny and i found our perfect rings! plus, they're about a thousand times cheaper than real ones. we could get engaged for a mere $14.97. now what guy wouldn't want that? haha

(like our easter egg nails? totally didn't even plan that. best friends think alike!)

call me maybe came on...we all freaked out before the words even started. then we jammed out in the middle of the store. we're strange. haha

needless to say, 'twas a marvelous adventure :) and i even got a couple treasures out of it! (and avoided sam asking me to buy him things...haha) all in all, a good time :)

but our fun doesn't stop there! oh, no. we went to charly's fancy new house for more fun!

we toured a bit, ate some costa vida (mmm!) and explored into the makeout cave (don't worry, it still hasn't been used). then sam decided to see if he could climb out of it...in real clothes...uh oh.

but he didn't fall in, no worries. ...he also didn't actually make it out without cheating. haha

but then we actually went swimming, and it was great.

sam pretended to be a dolphin, i styled his hair, rae and charly jumped off the waterfall, i went down the slide...

and jenny took pictures of herself. hahah

i like my friends. we're weird, to say the least, but i must say, we definitely have fun :)

i want one of these. i think they're fun and cute and awesome.

i also want to take more pictures. i end up recommitting myself every 8 months or so to take lots of pictures and fully document my lovely little life. and i do a great job! ...for a month. and then i just fall back into being lame and picture-less. 

my mom, on the other hand, is the most fantastic home-photographer on the planet. she takes tons and tons of pictures of absolutely everything. it's not always the most popular thing in our home, cuz sometimes we're trying to run out the door and be somewhere, or just sick of standing and smiling, but i really do think it's the greatest thing ever. i just love her so so much :) we consequently have tons of pictures and they always give us lots and lots of good memories and it's kind of like keeping a journal...but more fun. haha

everything is better with pictures! (especially blogs :))

but i stink at it. so, here i am, recommitting myself to be fabulous and photographer-y. let's hope i actually stick with it this time! :)
