Let the Games Begin!

Treyton and Jayci both had their first soccer games this past Saturday. They were SO excited and it was so fun for Nate and I not only to watch them play, but also just go to games again. We both really miss playing, but this was a pretty close second best.

Jayci's team didn't get a chance to practice before their first game due to the rain last week. She got to her game a bit early, met her coaches, and practiced kicking into the goal. It is adorable. She focuses so hard and wants to control the ball so badly! She doesn't like to kick the ball unless she has had a chance to stop it first. During the game, she played basically how we thought she would. She actually kept up with the really good players (running wise) but didn't dare get in the middle of the mass of kids to start kicking around. When the ball came straight to her, she would kick, but she just isn't a super aggressive kid. It was so much fun to watch and we were so proud of her for being so excited to play the whole game! She even threw the ball in and did a fantastic job. And, of course, she was ecstatic about getting a snack afterwards. The best part!Image

Treyton's team had three practices before the game. His coach is pretty intense and told Nate that his team has been undefeated for the last three years. What?! Because of the deadline for birthdays, Treyton is on the 5-6 year old team. He had SO much fun. Seriously. He loves goofing around and running around, so this was perfect for him. He has a great kick but just isn't really aggressive either. I think he had just as much fun when his "string" was sitting on the bench being social as when he was running around on the field. We just loved watching him play. Both of the kids' teams won and although neither of them scored, they were so excited that you would have thought they did!Image

Griffin had fun playing around with the Putnams (who were there watching Owen on the next field over). He was a bit peeved that he couldn't get on the field and play, but we tried to keep him distracted over on the side. It worked for the first hour. After that, we struggled a bit.

ImageI love this picture of the two of them. So sweet!

He also has discovered his love of hats recently. Isn't he cute in it?!

Emery was at the games, too. You wouldn't know it though, since the Oklahoma wind made it necessary for us to keep a blanket over her the entire two hours. Seriously. The wind NEVER stops. EVER. Luckily she is such a great baby that she didn't seem to mind. The weather this week has been SO warm that I got to break out some of her new spring/summer clothes.ImageStone-faced Emery

ImageAlthough a bunch has fallen out (or her head just got bigger and her hair couldn't keep up), the hair she does has is still crazy and blondish red as can be. I love it! The back, though, is almost completely rubbed off.
ImageShe just wants to suck on all of her clothes. But look at that cute chubby body! I could just eat it.

ImageAnd I did it!! A smile, finally. She has definitely found her voice recently and LOVES to coo and aww, especially at times when I would love her to actually be quiet...like in Relief Society on Sunday. She was SO loud! That's okay. Even if it was distracting, it was totally sweet and worth it!

4 Months

I know I say this every time, but I honestly can't believe how fast time goes by. She's already 4 months! But at the same time, I can't remember life without her. Seems like Emery has always been a part of our family. I just love the crap out of her! (sweet, huh?)Here are some random, funny pictures I snapped of her today. This is what you get when you have three other crazies running around you and a husband at work who can't run crowd control!ImageLook at that pouty lip. She has the best sad faces ever! She makes this especially good one about ten seconds before she lets out a wail. Its awesome.
ImageDon't know what this one is, but don't you love her round head?!

ImageAnd getting ready to eat her hands.

This past week has been a rough one for her. She was super fussy one day, which was really unusual. She would cry whenever I'd put her down. Then she started crying even when I was holding her. She was SO tired, but wouldn't sleep, but couldn't keep her eyes open either. Then she started getting a fever. Then she started in with a horrible cough that made her gag every time and totally freaked me out. Nate got home and we watched her for a while, then he decided to take her to urgent care. The Dr. checked her right ear and said, "yep. She has an ear infection." Then she checked the left and said, "Wow. This one's even worse!" I am really hoping this is an isolated incident and we don't repeat Griffey's ear infection issues. Nate asked about the cough, but the Dr. didn't hear any wheezing in the lungs, so she had basically ruled out RSV. She thought she'd do a swab "just in case" and said she'd be back in fifteen minutes after the test had done its thing. Nate said she walked back in after three and said the test strip was already positive! She's been okay and her cough has gotten a bit better. Her fever is down and she is taking things for her ear infection, so we are just watching her breathing and monitoring her. She is almost back to her happy self, which is nice!

Anyways, here are some things about Emery at 4 months:
*As of last week, she is in the 75% for height and weight, but her official 4 month check up is in two days.
*We honestly can't resist her. She is so sweet and has the roundest, most lemonheaded shaped head in the world!
*She loves to suck on her hands and still hasn't figured out the thumb thing. She's getting pretty good at fitting her entire fist in her mouth!
*She loves to snuggle her Giraffe Blankie on her face.Image
*She loves to smile and coo.
*Takes pretty good naps during the day on her own. Still only sleeps randomly at night. Yeah, we've got to fix that.
*Griffin still loves her to pieces, as do her other siblings.ImageImage
*She loves to "stand" on the ground while you're holding her up.
*Her flat head is getting better, slowly.
*We just love, love, love her and couldn't imagine our family without our sweet baby Emmie!
