New Blog
Jason and I have decided to continue our blog on a different site. Check it out! The link is below:
Update
Once again it has taken along time to post… So much has been going on lately, most I will have to catch you up on in a week or so:-) Lately we’ve been working on the house a lot, and trying to take it easy. Jason’s latest house upgrade undertaking has been to replace all the wall light sockets and switches. He is doing a really good job! He has installed a bunch of dimmer switches, which has really been nice. Also, were trying to reorganize the 2nd bedroom and loft. For people who haven’t been to our house, our loft is basically a 3rd bedroom since it has been completely enclosed with block glass, but isn’t a “bedroom” because it doesn’t have a closet. Its weird how they classify that stuff…
Other than that, we went to The Melting Pot on Mothers Day to celebrate with my sister and mom which was really fun! I gave Addison a “candy binkie” and she loved it. haha we didn’t know it was going to be such a hit, but it was really funny to watch!
Hopefully I will have a lot more updates for you next week, but thats it for now!
Oh, one more thing… Its the season finale of LOST tonight, which means that its going to be months till the show is back on- withdrawls are going to start soon!!!
Its been a long time since I have been able to post- It has been a crazy, but great week!! Over the weekend Jason and I went to a friend’s son’s bday party, and went to an Angels game. Jason was pretty bummed because the Angels just destroyed the Mariners, but I was happy!! Kona also made another boston terrier friend who lives in our community, and they get along great. On sunday we were at the park and a big black lab snarled at Kona’s new friend Lucy and that made Kona really angry. He decided that nobody is supposed to pick on his friend, so of course he ran in to defend Lucy and got in a scuffle with the black lab. Thankfully nothing happened, but everyone thought it was so funny that Kona totally blocked Lucy from the lab!
Central Bark
We took Kona to Central Bark, the Irvine dog park last night so he could have a play date with his new friend Reggie. When we first got there Kona freaked out when he saw Reggie for some reason and started a scuffle. It probably happened because Kona was already off leash and Reggie was still on leash. After that though they both had a great time! There were so many dogs there that they didn’t play together that much, but both of them had so much fun! Jordan and Jason, Reggie’s owners just adopted Reggie a few months back. Whoever owned him previously clipped his ears to look like a pit bull. Its really unfortunate because it makes people weary to be around him, when in reality hes just a big sweet brown boston terrier that is full of energy!! I attached a couple of pictures from their play date below…
On another note, Jason got some preventative medicines for his migraines!! He went to this really good neurologist in our area who is taking a different approach than previous doctors have done with him. Instead of being on one medicine, He is now using a combination of different types of low dose medicines in an effort to make the nerves in his brain fire in a normal pattern, and to regulate the blood flow in the blood vessels in his head, both of which the neurologist feels was causing these debilitating migraines. He should be on these medicines for a couple months, then if he gets to a point where he has 2 or less migraines a month then he will stop taking them. It was so great to finally get a new treatment plan!

Kona’s new best friend Reggie
I was bored yesterday, so I went onto craigslist and searched boston terriers. A woman had posted an add asking for any advice on how to deal with her 35 lb boston. Apparently he is a rough and tumble player, and doesn’t know when to stop playing with dogs that don’t want to be played with (which then turns into the other dog attacking at times.) She was looking for any suggestions for a good doggy daycare, and how to get her dog to stop annoying other dogs. When I read this I thought “Its Kona’s brother from another mother!!!” haha. I emailed her to tell her that she isn’t the only one with a enormous crazy boston terrier, and we started talking more. It turns out that her doggy Reggie is exactly like Kona, and we set up a play date for later in the evening. Sure enough they took to each other immediately, and ran and played for an hour before they both passed out on the grass. It was the cutest thing to watch!! We are so glad that we found Kona a new playmate that can actually wear him out!!! Jordan, the owner is about Jason and I’s age, and has a boyfriend named Jason… What a coincidence!
So yes, Kona likes to meet friends online….
Easter
We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!! Jason and I did. We went to church as usual on Sunday morning, then went over to my parents house for an late Easter lunch. Addie got some new chalk and tea set, so we made chalk drawings on the driveway, and had a fun tea party:-) Then when we went to leave she gave Jason and I a hug and told us Happy Easter without anyone prompting her! How cute is that!!!
Sick
The past week for Jason and I has been kinda crazy. Ever since we got home from vacation Jason hasn’t been feeling well. He has been really achy, extremely tired, and his back and joints have been hurting, which never happens for him! He was sleeping 10+ hours a night and still waking up more tired then when he went to bed. Then, Friday night he took a turn for the worse and we ended up making a trip to the emergency room because he was having the worst migraine pain that he has ever had in his life. They gave him 2 rounds of intravenous pain killers, and 3 rounds of anti nausea meds before he felt better:-/ He got a CT scan and blood work done, and everything came back good- The only other option he had was to get a spinal tap to see if he had viral menengitis. We nixed that idea since there was no remedy to viral menengitis, even if they did determine he had it. It just has to run its course like any other bug. So, we got home and Jason slept through the weekend, and thankfully he is felling better today! His neck is really screwed up now, so he is going to see a physical therapist at lunch… Hopefully that helps!
On one hand its good that nothing showed up wrong on the CT scan or blood work, but that still leaves us in the dark as to why he gets these horrible migraines. He set up an appointment with a neurologist, so hopefully they are able to help!!
Along with everything that happened with jason’s health this past weekend, our refrigerator decided to take a nose dive Sunday. Rather than dealing with a fridge that has given us nothing but problems the past year, we went out and bought a new stainless steel french door refrigerator- Its really nice!!! Hopefully this next weekend is less eventful!
Dive Fiji!
Here are some pics from our diving adventures in Fiji. We went to three different sites: 2 wall dives, Casbah and Sunset Wall, as well as a shark encounter dive at a location called Supermarket. The one dive that we had the underwater camera was at Supermarket, and for some reason we decided to wear shorties- after that it was bathing suits and BC’s because the water was so incredibly warm!! Were really spoiled now when it comes to diving!!
Castaway Island
The third and final island that we visited on our trip to Fiji was Castaway Island. No, it wasn’t where they filmed the movie Castaway, but we did have a good view of that island from the beach! We really did love each place that we stayed, but we both think that Castaway was probably the best. We had a beautiful bure (thatched hut/room) with a hand painted bark cloth ceiling, and there was an amazing reef surrounding the island, making for some great snorkeling. The day we arrived management was throwing a cocktail party, so we got to try Kava for the first time. Kava is a traditional Fijian drink that looks and tastes like muddy water. It isn’t alcoholic, but has some narcotic qualities I am told. It made our mouthes feel numb! After the cocktail party there was a Meke, where the fijians danced, sang, and made a bunch of traditional food. It was a lot of fun to see their dances and taste the traditional foods of the area.
Also at Castaway, there was a awesome bar / lounging area up above a dive shop looking out over the water. That quickly became one of our favorite spots to take in the beautiful sunsets. We did two dives while we were at Castaway, more to come on that! Other than that, we met some fun new friends, Greg and Sue from Minnesota, and had a great time relaxing and enjoying the last few days of our vacation!
One last thing that I have to mention… I never realized how much the fijians love children. You expect people to be nice to you when your on vacation because they are paid to be nice, but all the employees were so genuinely happy to be around the kids. They would carry them around, give them big hugs, and the kids were so sad to leave!! I have never seen that before at a resort, and it makes me want to bring our family back there someday!
Anyways… here are some pictures from Castaway Island!
