Rednesday is Here Again

Image Gee, I haven't posted much this month and not since my birthday 3 weeks ago!
I have been busy at work and also just not very energetic when I am at home.
So not much going on.
I go to work today, but I will have the
next four days off.
I hope to get a start on decluttering and cleaning
which I need to do very badly around here.
That is what I mean about no energy,
I can't even get stuff done around here.
But I do have a few RED things to show you.
Thank you to Sue over at
for hosting today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In November our church had a Fair Trade Festival.
There were things to purchase made in other countries.
I bought three things.
Image This interesting bowl with a lid was made in Vietnam.
I was very intrigued by it when I realized it was
made out of magazine pages.
Image See how it starts in a small coil and continues
until it is the size the craftsperson wanted it to be.
Image The inside of the lid and the inside of the bowl.
Image Look how the lid is made to fit perfectly on the bowl.
I find that amazing!
Notice the RED in it too!
Not sure how I will use the bowl though.
Image This is not really RED but I loved it anyway.
I am going to use it as a pencil cup by the phone.
I have a corn can there at the moment.
I think it is time to change it to something more interesting.
This pencil cup is from Asante Network.
Image This bowl is from the Asante Network also.
It is actually more RED than orange for real.
But against the RED tablecloth it looks more orange.
Image The underside of the bowl.
Notice the blue loop on the left side.
I did not realize that loop was there at first.
That gives me a way to hang it on the wall if I want to.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We did not put up a big tree this year.
Actually I did not even get my boxes of decorations out either.
For some reason I was just not up to it this year.
When Christmas came, I kind of wished I did get some out.
Perhaps next year will be better.
Image I did get this small tree from JoAnn's and
hung my cookie cutters on it with RED and white ribbon.
Also bought the RED mini tree skirt to go around it.
The cookie jar and pitcher are from Hallmark.
I bought them after Christmas last year.
They were still in their bag so I pulled those out.
I have candy in them.
Image Another thing I bought at JoAnn's was this Debbie Mumm tray.
I love her designs.
Two Debbies I love.
Debbie Mumm the designer and
Debbie Macomber the author.
Any other Debbies out there to love?
~~~~~~
Anyway, that was as far as I got for Christmas this year.
I really hope 2010 will be a good year for all of us.
Happy REDnesday and
Happy New Year!
Today Is My Day!
I am reposting my birthday post from last year and edited for this year.
Free Blinkies
Happy Birthday to Me!! The good news is I have made through another year. That is a good reason to celebrate ME. I am not doing anything special today though. Hubby and I both have to work . So today will be just a normal weekday for us. However, we will be going to The Container Store on Saturday and get more shelving for the sewing room closet. That is what I want for my birthday. I so bad want to finish the closet so I can organize my life. See my sewing blog for updates on that. We will also go out to dinner, but not sure when, probably on the weekend. And we plan to attend a Christmas Concert on Sunday.
But today is a good day to reflect and be grateful that I still have good health for the most part and have a job and that I am able to go to work. On the light side, I find it fun that I can fool people. Most folks I meet in my job think I am way younger than I really am. Heehee. I have to thank my genes for that one. I believe those genes I get mainly from my father. When he was younger he would get the same kind of comments. We were always amused by that. That reminds me, I am also grateful that I still have both of my parents.
Free Blinkies
I had to add this blinkie. I don't remember any hills. I am not planning on going over any yet either. Not for a long time!
When I was growing up one thing we did for my birthday was to go Christmas tree hunting. My mother usually had the family over to our house for a birthday dinner for me. But before the dinner we went to a tree farm to go and cut down our trees. The summer I was twelve we moved to where my parents live now and there was a tree farm right next door. That made it easy. That tree farm is not there anymore. The owners sold off a couple of lots and there are two or three homes that have been built. In the rest of the area the trees continued to grow and now they are quite tall. I remember the traffic on our street during the holidays when the tree farm was still in business.
ImageFor fun, I thought I would share a picture of me when I was a wee thing. Hope you all have a good day for my birthday!
Happy Day!
~Linnea
P.S. In the process of reusing this post, the comments that are here are from last year. But feel free to add to the ones that are already there!!! Because I love comments!
Rednesday at Bev Mo
ImageTime for REDnesday again!
I missed posting for this last week I think.
Thank you to Sue at It's A Very Cherry World! for hosting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We went to BevMo last Saturday
and ended up with lots of RED stuff.
Image Here is a look at most of our purchases.
Do you see lots of RED there?

ImageCheeses with wrappings in RED.
We have not yet tasted the Cranberry and Cinnamon Cheese thing.
But I am sure it is yummy.
The Babybel's are good.
We open one and split it now and then.
ImageB-Daddy likes to drink beer, but not the common ones.
No Coors or Budwieser for him.
He is in for the interesting beers.
Especially the dark beers.
He found this box of
Beers for the Season.
Image Remember when I got one bottle each of three different things?
Anyway,
Apple-Beer was one of them.
Since I like it, B-Daddy got me 6 bottles of it.
This is not a real beer.
I don't drink beer or much of any kind of alcohol.
The Apple-Beer is yummy.
Image We had also gotten a bottle of this Sarsaparilla.
I really like it so B-Daddy got me 6 bottles of this too.
I am sure you are noticing all the RED labels here.
Image Here is a close up of those interesting beers.
One is called RED Trolley Ale!
Image Or how about Santa's Private Reserve Rogue Ales?
Definitely interesting labels on interesting beers/ales.
B-Daddy has tasted a couple them.
He likes them.
He also likes to have one while watching
college football.
Those are my REDS for today.
I don't have any Christmas decorations up yet.
I am still not sure if I am even going to put any up.
Don't have the energy or the motivation to do that right now.
But I still got time.
I hope.

Blue Monday-Baby and Advent

Image With the first Sunday in Advent here,

we are now in a BLUE Season.

BLUE is the color for Advent in our church.

But first I want to to introduce you to a new baby.

Actually, first I want to thank Sally at

Smiling Sally for hosting

BLUE Monday!

~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok, now the baby!
Image I was introduced to my new step-great-nephew.
My brother raised his father.
So of course they are like family.
And he looks a lot like his father too.
Image In the first picture he was fussing.
But here he is snoozing soundly under his
BLUE blanket.
A very cute baby.
He is almost 2 months old now.
~~~~~~~

This banner now hang in the altar area

at our church.

Image Reminding us of what the Advent Season as all about.

Image Here is the Advent wreath with the BLUE candles
and sitting on a light BLUE cloth.

Image See the BLUE decorating the church?

Our pastors got sneaky and stuck the purple

winddancers up there with the BLUE.

Purple used to be used during Advent.

Now it is used during Lent only.
Image

This picture I took with the flash.
The one above that is.

Image

And this one above I took without the flash. I like this one better.

You can see the purple one is in a different place on each rod.

Image

Outside it was a gorgeous day. We had horrible winds on

Saturday. But Sunday was beautiful.

Though the wind blew a lot of leaves off the trees,

many still had their beautiful color.

Like this one outside the church. I love the yellow against the BLUE sky.

Happy Monday!

An Outdoor Blue Monday

Image This week I am going to make this a double thingy.
The BLUE skies and BLUE water for a BLUE Monday.
And because it is outdoors I will also
link up with Outdoor Wednesday
which I have not done in awhile.
Thank you to our hosts,
Sally at Smiling Sally
and Susan at A Southern Daydreamer.
Image A couple of weeks ago it was such a beautiful day
that on my way home from my parents
I decided to climb the hill (in my car)
to this winery I have never been to.
I heard they have wonderful views up there.
I was not disappointed.
I could not believe how much I could see from up there.
Image Pretty vineyard on the way with
clear BLUE skies.
Image Another view.
Wanted to get some fall colors while I still could.

Image Look at the vineyards on the rolling hills.
BLUE water in the distance too.
That is part of the San Francisco Bay.
But the north end of the bay is actually
called the San Pablo Bay.
Image The patterns of the vineyards on the hills are fun to look at.
Image Look at this fountain!

Image A little more to the left.
I passed that red barn on my way up to this place.
Image I climbed more stairs and I was greeted with more fountains.
See? BLUE water.

Image I will need to come back to this place and explore more.

Image Another pool of water looking very BLUE.

Image When I first walked up those steps I was startled to find
water on both sides of me.
Felt a little strange. Like I was floating or something.
That unusual scuplture has some bluish
things on it. Maybe they reflect the light.
Next time I will have to get a close up of that one.
Image Looking back down the stairs.
The sculpture down there has BLUE.
I did not realize I got that coffee cup in my picture until later.
I noticed it there and wondered why people need to do that.
Image Another view.
I will have to bring B-Daddy with me next time.
We can then check out more of the winery
and do some wine tasting.
Image The water trickling down beside the stairs.

Image The same scuplture looking back up.
Not as BLUE that way.
Depends on the lighting.
But in the bottom thingy
you can see me taking the picture.
I just noticed that.
The steps are fairly easy to climb.
They are short steps.
But there is also an elevator to get up there too.
I have been driving by the signs to this place for
a long time now.
I am glad I finally checked out.
And on a gorgeous day too!!
Have a wonderful week.

Pink Saturday-New Items From My Trip

Image It is time for Pink Saturday!!
Thank you Bev at How Sweet the Sound
for hosting every week.
I find it amazing that Bev is our lovely
host every week.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was away last weekend for a women's convention.
I blogged about stopping at Awful Annie's for lunch
on my Blue Monday post.
Well in the same area, Old Town Auburn
are some shops.
FUN!
Image I enjoy watching
"I Love Lucy"
now and then.
In 2005 we found the sign above in Florida.
It has been hanging on the wall all by itself
for all this time.
Waiting for a friend.
Well, look what I found!
Image Another sign!
From the crazy Episode #39.
Lots of PINK!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the convention itself there
was a bookstore display.
Look what I found there!
Image Tea for one!
Lovely PINK flowers.
I was happy when
B-daddy agreed to get it for me.
Image
Image This is the back side of both pieces.
I didn't have a tea for one set.
So it was really cool to get this one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I looked at last week's Pink Saturday list on Bev's
blog and found one to visit that was new to me.
Cinnamonstitch
I love the name of her blog.
It was because of the name I decided to pay her a visit.
She has some adorable pink crafts that she makes.
Last week she featured a cute ribbon rose tree.
So pretty!
~~~~~~~~~
Happy Pink Saturday!
