Family Prayer

Last night, Skyler called at 10:30pm (like usual) just as we were getting home from a family Christmas activity. We were able to have a real family prayer, with all of us there. And the best part was, Scott asked Skyler to pray in Persian. It was amazing. So cool and such a strong spirit. It was wonderful to have us all together for those moments. A Christmas/mission blessing!

Weekly Wrap-up December 20th 2025

Elder Nelson visited Frankfurt this week for his zone conference! He had fun visiting with friends from the MTC and being with his whole missionary group! Read his update HERE

Here at home, we had an insanely busy week which included sick kids (tis the season), parties, Christmas activities and fun!

*We spent Sunday evening at the Wings home for a family dinner, which was so fun!
*The kids made their yearly tree ornament. They turned out super cool, so cool in fact that Scott and I couldn't resist making one for ourselves. Andrew and Kayla each made an extra!
*On Monday December 15th, Carson got asked to Sweethearts, which is on, wait for it, February 21st! haha
*We attended the Larry H. Miller Christmas sing-a-long! We invited friends to join us and had a blast dressing festively and singing classic Christmas carols! It was so fun, as always. It was super packed this year.
*Kayla, Andrew and Olivia worked hard to make their teacher gifts-little snowmen covered candy bars. We had fun being creative. Speaking of being creative.... my friend introduced me to a super cool machine at the library craft room where you can make your own shirt. Kayla was part of a secret Santa gift exchange at school. The friend that she got is a big time Lightning McQueen fan so we created and made a super cool shirt for her.
*The Welby kids had their Holiday sing-a-long event. All the kids did great. Olivia's grade sang Feliz Navidad and Marshmallow World. Andrew and the 3rd grade sang Jingle Bell Rock (en espanol) and Santa Bring Me a Dinosaur. Kayla and the 6th grade sang Jingle Bells (en espanol) and Last Christmas, I Gave You My Heart....
*On the morning of the sing-a-long, Andrew came to me asking if we could make him a Santa beard. We threw him together a beard in 5 minutes and he wore it all day long! He looked epically awesome!
*We hosted Scott’s work party here. It was fun to get to know his team!
*I helped out at Kaylas class party, which was so fun!
*Scott and my Christmas gift arrived! We decided to forgo other gifts and get a new couch for the basement. We love it!
*Friday night we invited the Willigs and Snows to join us for some Christmas fun. We went to Wheeler farm where we visited Santa, went on a wagon ride and made a fun little craft. Then we came back to our house and had chili and then made "gingerbread" houses. It was a super fun day!
*Andrew and Kayla had their final junior jazz games. Andrews team tied. Andrew played great as always! Kayla and the Jazzy Bears won 28-4. Kayla had 14 points and 15 boards. She is a really good player!
*After Kayla's game, we had the team over to our house for a end of season party. We had pizza, signed basketballs, and gave out awards. It has been a really fun year and I have had a lot of fun coaching Kayla and this team!
*We had an awesome Saturday evening. We went to Jordan Commons and saw Zootopia 2. Andrew lost a tooth during the movie! After that, we went to Thanksgiving Point and did the Luminaria experience. It was so incredible; however, we vastly underestimated the time it would take to complete the walk through! haha. We were there from 7-10. Afterwards we hit the JCWs and headed home. It was a super fun night!

Weekly Wrap -up December 13th 2025

Elder Nelson update: Every year, in December the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints runs a Light the World campaign, releasing videos, calendars and ideas of how to bring the Light of Christ into your life. This year, Skyler got to be in the Persian Light the World video. It was made by all the Persian Speaking missionaries, all over the world. This is a really cool effort that was planned out and put together. He traveled to Frankfurt for a Zone Conference and happy news.... Amazon.de delivered! So, he got his Christmas packages! YAY!

This has been a BUSY week for us here in the Nelson home with lots of fun Christmas events and family visits.

*Dance this week has been go-go-go! Kayla performed in 2 library performances on Monday. A favorite highlight and memory that will not be forgotten was when the boys volunteered to be Kaylas "baby mice." It was the best and everyone there got a good laugh. Kayla and Olivia had there last ever classes at Sunset Dancers on Thursday. We are so sad for this journey to be over. Friday, the girls had their dress rehearsal and then Saturday they performed in the Nutcracker. More HERE
*Tuesday night Kayla and Andrew performed in the Welby Choir Concert. They both did so well and we loved having Grandma and Papa Nelson with us.
*We attended the LHM Christmas party at the ball field. It was so fun. We were able to walk around and see all the lights, ride reindeer, play on the glowing dots, ride the train, ice skate and more. We were fed a delicious dinner and dessert. We had free access to SWIG drinks and we were gifted a brand-new pair of Bear Paw shoes-one per person! We had a really fun time and are so grateful for the last 6 months that Scott has been able to work for LHM.
*Trey performed in the ERMS band concert. He did a really good job! We love the Santa the Barbarian song!
*Friday night, Grandma and Papa came over again and we had dinner and played Outsmarted. It was a fun night!
*Olivia and Kayla each made ornaments at school that we put on the tree.
*Scott, Trey and Olivia went to Molli Wings baptism and enjoyed visiting with family after. Kayla went to the ward Christmas party where she played the bells in the primary song. She also made a snowman!
*Andrew and Kayla both did really well in their junior jazz games this week. Both won and both scored points and played hard!
