2 Month Update

I can not believe it has been two months already. Time has been going by so fast! Caleigh is growing like crazy, she is double the size she was when she was born. I will have the official weight and height after her next Dr apt in a few days. We did get some pix taken at Sears, which was fun but I'm not sure if I would use them again.

On August 25th Caleigh officially rolled from her belly to her back!! we were shocked that she did it so fast. One second she is laying on her belly and the next she is angry and rolling over. She was very done with her belly time for the day. We didn't get it on video but its just the beginning.

Enjoy her cute pics!

One Month Old and counting!

So Caleigh is officially one month old now!
Wow how fast the time goes by. It does not feel like it has already been a full month. Nick was able to take 2 weeks off work when she came home but now has to go back to work. That means a little readjusting to having him gone again. It was so nice seeing him every day all day. Caleigh has been soo good so far. She sleeps more than the average baby but thats because she shouldn't be here yet. Technically she still has 2 full weeks until her due date. She has had 2 Dr appointments and is looking great!
Her last weigh in was at 6lbs 9 oz! I can't believe she is already growing so fast!
Please enjoy the random pics of our baby girl!!

The Baby Story...

Ok so here is the baby story of Caleigh Dawn Black.

On Tuesday June 19th I went to bed just like any other night. At about one in the morning I woke up because I thought that I had to pee. I got out of bed and felt a gush of fluid. Honestly, I though I just peed myself and that maybe I just had lost all control of my bladder thanks to the baby. I didn't think it was anything important so I didn't wake Nick. This however happened two more times during the night. In the morning I decided to tell Nick what had happened and that I wasn't going to go to work until I called my OB to make sure this was normal.

Well I called my OB and talked to a nurse and she said that because there was no DR in the office yet that I should go straight to Labor and Delivery to get checked out because to her it seemed like my water might have broke or was leaking. I went to the hospital and got checked in. They tested me for a lot of things, including my water levels and to see if my water had actually broke. All tests came back negative or normal. My water level was marked at being 11.5 and they send me home.

I had been kinda crampy for about a week prior to this but I figured it was normal too because random contractions can happen. Anyways...The cramps got worse over the next two days. On Friday, June 22nd I had a regular scheduled OB appointment. I went to work and then had Nick pick me up to go to the OB. When we got there my OB told me she was worried and couldn't figure out what was going on. She re-ran all the test the hospital did and then called a Fetal Specialist. All the tests she ran came back normal but because my cramps were getting worse and I still felt like I had zero bladder control, she sent me to a Fetal Specialist to have me re-checked again.

Well we went straight over to the specialist and he did an ultrasound and found that my water level was now at a 5.5 and not 11.5. He checked a few other things and told me that my water had definitely broke. He sent me straight over to Labor and Delivery. I was checked into the hospital and put on bed rest. So I stayed at the hospital in bed, for a few days. The OB on call told me that he thought my body would go into labor on its own with in a week or so. They changed their mind on Monday June 25th.

I was induced at 12:30 and told that they wanted to have my contractions to be about 3 min apart and about a min long. They told me it could take up to 12 or 17 hours to get there. I was planning on this being a long labor. Plus my mom was flying in the next day so I thought well maybe this is good, she might be able to make it. I was wrong. It only took about an hour for me to have my contractions right were they needed to be. The nurse checked me and I was at a 4. She was surprised by how fast I got there and called in for the epidural. Once that was in place she waited about 20 or so min and checked me again. I was at a 9.5 and so she called the OB in. While we waited for the DR the nurse had me do a practice push. I was stopped during the push because apparently her head was already there and ready to come out.

Well 5 or 6 pushes later she was here!! It only took 4 hours! She is still in the hospital and doing great! She just needs to eat every feeding on her own to come home. So...Introducing our new baby girl...

White Sox, Flowers, and Belly

Ok so a few things have gone on in the past week. First of all we came across some White Sox tickets!!! Sadly they did not win that night but it was so much fun being there. Were were in row 8, behind 1st base! The tickets were great! We had a group of guys in front of us who ate an insane amount of taco salad and one was dared to eat it with hot peppers through out it...well he was sweaty and did not look good by the end of it but he did win his $20. We also had a boy behind us who decided that he would be the sports announcer for at least 2 innings....not fun to have that in your ear but it didn't last too long.

Onto the flowers...On our first night of Gum Past Flowers we learned how to do Gerber Daisies and blossoms. We did start the stems for a our next class. These were very fun to make!

Idaho

So about two weeks ago we had some sad news in our family. My awesome uncle Scott passed away. It was a surprise to all of us. We got the news and ran home and jumped in the car and headed straight to Idaho. We were told he was on life support and that he might not make it long enough for us to get there. Did I mention that the drive to Idaho is 22 hours one way??? Lets just say that 22 hours in a car while being prego was not the most comfy experience. Well Scott held on for us to get there and then they took him off life support. The time spent with my family was amazing! It is hard to get us all together anymore and its sad that this is what it took but it was nice to see and be around everyone. I was even more lucky that Nick was able to join us on the trip down. The last time Nick and I went on a long trip together was almost 2 years ago, so it was nice to be together and have his support. While in Idaho we were able to see some of Nicks family too, including some family friends that we have not seen sense we were married, 4 1/2 years ago.  Well Scott's funeral was amazing, everyone that helped with it was fantastic and I can not believe how much food people brought over. Well uncle Scottness we miss you and love you! Here are some favorite memories of him:
~Living with us for a few months and teaching me all about cornholio
~Getting to know your 2 boys
~ Scott getting so excited about something you did that he would pinch the back of your arms (ouch)
~ Being taught how to make bombs out of flowers on July 4th

Cake Classes Update!

Ok so I have been a little slow on the uploading of pictures and sharing about any new things going on. Well here are a few updates from cake class. I have now officially passed course 2 of my wilton cake courses. I have been doing them out of order but now I have completed courses 1,2, and 3!!! Here are some pics of the latest flowers I have created...There are some button flowers, violets, roses, daisies and more. They might not all be in the correct flower color but I wasn't going for realistic on all of them.

So now I am onto course 4 and I am so excited!!! This class is all gum paste flowers, which I think I'm better at than these flowers which are royal icing and butter cream frosting. I guess we will see here soon! Its funny how all these classes started off with being a simple birthday gift of learning how to decorate a simple cake and now I can't get enough!

Flowers

So this week at my cake class we learned how to do gum paste flowers. We learned how to make roses, carnations, and calla lilies! The were a lot of fun to make. The flowers were not as hard to do as I expected, the roses were the most difficult. I am excited to learn more flowers! On the baby side of things...Our baby girl is doing great so far. She is moving like crazy and making it harder to sleep and be comfortable. I have my 1hr glucose test coming up, I'm not super excited about it. Here are some pics of my flowers!
