Sunday of Memorial Day weekend we went to Celebration at the Station. It is a concert by the Kansas City Symphony followed by fireworks on the lawn between Union Station and the Liberty Memorial. (I did not take the above picture!)It was a beautiful night out and we all really enjoyed it! Will loved listening to the music and clapping along with everyone. He also loved the fireworks and would point to the sky and wave his arms in excitement! (The noise didn’t bother him at all!) Brooke had fun hanging out with Oliver [we went with the Moores and their family] and watching all the festivities! There were A LOT of people [60,000] and we got home late but it was a fun night! After a busy summer last year, filled with moving, a new baby and getting settled in, we are looking forward to enjoying more of what Kansas City has to offer this summer!

Celebration at the Station
…and he’s off….
Will has been slowly taking more and more steps over the past few weeks but today he really seemed to take off! He walked across the room more than once today! He still favors crawling but I’m pretty sure that’s just because he can’t go as fast walking. I keep joking that he’s not going to really walk until he figures out how to run…and it may not be that much of a joke! Here’s a quick video of him on the move today. He was walking toward me so I kept having to move backward so its a little shaky!
and speaking of moving, Will got some new “wheels” for his birthday! [this has since became an outside toy but this was the first day we had it!]
more birthday celebrating!
Will’s birthday weekend was low key after our big birthday celebration a few weekends ago (which was nice!) Grandma Barb and Grandpa Stuart came to visit and we had cake and ice cream with them and the Moore’s to celebrate. Will didn’t mind getting to eat cake again at all! This boy definitely has a sweet tooth!
Soccer Star!
Brooke had her first experience playing soccer this spring. She seemed to really enjoy it! She was on a team of 6 other 3 and 4 year olds and was coached by a college student. They did drills/practice for the first 20 minutes or so and then scrimmaged against another team for the last half. We talked it up a lot so she was excited about it long before it started. The night before her first practice/game she looked at me and said, “Mommy, how do you play soccer?”[She had no idea what she was so excited for!] She took the drills very seriously and even showed them off once she got home. She even scored a goal at her last game! Here are some pictures, thanks to Grandpa Stuart. I know there are a lot, but he got some cute ones, so I couldn’t leave them out! [note the last one..she is wearing her personalized headband…thanks Jaime!]
We haven’t decided if she is going to play again this fall….I’m sure she will say yes if we ask her but she is also very interested in taking a dance class…and so the busy activity schedules begin!
Will is One!
Will is 12 months! AND…we can FINALLY say he is sleeping through the night! I would say it started consistently a little after he turned 11 months. He is standing/balancing on his own a lot and has taken a few steps here and there. He “talks” a lot but his only real words are still banana, dad, and sometimes bye and more. He has TEN teeth (a few are only part way in, but still!) We try not to compare, but Brooke had FOUR teeth on her first birthday. That’s a lot of teething for a little guy! He loves fruit and yogurt, sometimes likes meat, and HATES vegetables. He either spits them out or if you try to hide them in another food he has an amazing ability to separate the vegetables from the other food with his tongue and then use his fingers to promptly remove them from his mouth.

Weight – 19lbs1oz (5%)
Height- 29.5inches (50%)
The doctor wants to see him gain some weight so we are working on increasing his milk and food intake. Otherwise, everything checked out great!
A New Bike
Brooke got a new bike for her birthday. It’s pink and Barbie! She is doing well learning to ride it, we just need some better weather so she can get out and ride more!
