Every parent of young children probably expects to make a trip to the ER sometime to get stitches. I figured we would be doing it soon, but I also kind of assumed it would be with Will. Nope, it was Brooke. She was climbing UP the slide at school and slipped and cracked her chin open. It really wasn’t horrible, but wide enough that it needed 5 stitches. Jason spent a couple hours at Children’s Mercy Urgent care with her while I took Will home to eat dinner and go to bed. She did amazingly well (especially considering she is wimpy when it comes to any kind of scratch, scrape or blood). She actually seemed to enjoy the whole experience. She came home bragging about her stitches, told me today it was okay they had to wait a while for the doctor because it gave her time to watch tv (scooby doo was on in all the rooms) and keeps comparing it to the dentist office (not sure why!). Jason said she did great for the entire visit and she has really been fine since. Of course, Hello Kitty bandaids make everything better, even stitches! Hopefully we can cross this one off the list for a while! (probably not!)
