BBC – A submarine missing since Wednesday off the coast of Bali with 53 people on board has been lost, the Indonesian navy said on Saturday.

USNI News – Search efforts on Thursday have yet to turn up any sign of the missing Indonesian attack submarine KRI Nanggala (402) and 53 personnel. Meanwhile, submarine rescue ships from three different countries are en route to the scene near Bali.

Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno said on Monday the Navy plans to equip its patrol ships with guided missiles to increase their deterrent capability.
