Contrary to what the title of this blog might lead you to believe, my name isn’t Betsy. I’m Anna. And, I like to blog. I started my first blog back in 2006 as a little project while I was on maternity leave. The blog was a way to keep family updated about what we were doing. Three years later, I wanted to write more so I started this blog. We’ll see where takes us.
The name of the blog was inspired by my rockin’ husband, Brandon. By rockin’ I mean he is an uber-talented, smart, funny and amazing human being. Not to mention he is my best friend and a devoted father who never turns down a chance to play with his son.
Okay so back to the title of the blog. When Brandon was young, he wanted a horse. Now, a lot of kids want horses but not too many get them as a result. To the credit of his generous parents, his dream came true one Christmas morning. He opened a present and immediately his eyes grew wide with excitement. He saw a horse bridle in the box and as the realization hit him that the actual present was out in the field waiting for him, he blurted out, “Ohh, Betsy!”
Since watching his old home video of that Christmas morning, “Ohh, Betsy!” has become one of my favorite expressions. I can’t say it without smiling. For me, it’s a symbol of finding joy in our lives. It also happens to be a snazzy name for a blog.

That is a grand story. I actually don’t know if I’ve ever heard that one before, but I love it!! Priceless. Ohhh, Betsy! I’ll probably start saying that.
I love the name story. Wow, a horse for real? I also love that you love the expression because of that adorable moment in Brandon’s life.
You’re just so darn clever.
It is totally a cool story. That’s why I told it at your wedding day luncheon and why it should live in infamy in cyberspace. Go Betsy go!
I’m going to try and get the home video up here to post one day. Ohhhhh Betsy!
that is the best story i have ever heard in my life. i have always wanted a horse so bad i can taste it. i still do. in fact, i have imagined various times in my life when the blessed event that brandon experienced would happen to me, and i tear up just imagining it (it has never happened). when i finally got my PhD, i thought, for sure i will get a horse. nope. still no horse. i’m going to have to gift myself that bridle someday. i am so jealous of brandon. i am so glad someone has that story. ohhh betsy.
You really do need to get yourself a horse. PhD equals horse, easy.
what about u2 or bono for your i likes?
