Swimming Lessons

I took swimming lessons at the YMCA this summer. This was the 1st time my mommy didn't get in the pool with me I needed lots of convincing every lesson to get into the pool even though I LOVE swimming. I worked on floating, but haven't figured it out yet. I did go down the huge slide all by myself the last two lessons!

Sleeping

I've always been a pretty good sleeper, but I spent lots of time my 3rd year falling asleep in unusual ways.

We had a great time at a Royal's Game despite it being 100 degrees. I got to meet Slugger! It was a fun night!

Birthday Dinner

After my party, we had family & close friends over for some delicious barbeque from Smokehouse (yes, bbq again).  We were going to grill, but the weather was cold & yucky so at the last minute we decided to get bbq.

Brooke & Evan helped me open all the gifts from my party.

We missed Will & Luke's 1st b-day party so we gave them their gifts.

Toy Story Gymnastics Party

I had a very fun birthday party with my friends on Saturday. My friends and I loved jumping into the foam blocks, swinging on the rope, and jumping on the trampolines.   My Mommy, Neena, Papa, and Lori made some cool alien cupcakes that were a big hit.  I mainly ate the icing and candy off the top.  I think I need to have a gymnastics party every year!

My cousins- aren't they silly taking each others' 'fava's (pacifiers)?

Happy 3rd Birthday!!

I turned 3 today!  My Neena Lori and Papa Dave came today and we went to dinner at one of my favorite places; Jack Stack for BBQ!  I got to open some gifts from my family after dinner.  I was very excited to receive a T-ball set, 'Buzz Light', and Woody.  I brought brownies to school to celebrate with my friends there.  I went to the Dr. also and had a good appointment.  I'm growing well!

Spring Break

These past few days Mommy and I were on spring break.  It was more like a spring pause since it was really only Monday and Tuesday plus the weekend.  I was really busy.  We started the break out with my first visit to the dentist.  I didn't think I wanted to go, but it turned out to not be so bad.  I wasn't sure that I wanted to sit in the chair at first even though there was a cartoon playing above it so I laid on my Mommy's lap.  I let the hygienist clean my teeth with a regular toothbrush and scrape the plaque off.  The dentist took a look at my teeth and said that everything looked great- no cavities.  While my Mommy was talking to Dr. Berry I got to pick out a balloon and a sticker.  They also printed off a picture of me getting my teeth checked!  Dr. Berry recommended that I give up my 'fava' (pacifier) when I'm not potty training.

I tried the chair out while the hygienist went to get the dentist.

On Saturday morning we had swimming lessons.  This time Daddy swam with me.  It was cool because I got to wear this floating belt.  I was able to swim around on my own.  At the end of the lesson we went down the slide twice!  The first time Daddy and I ended up completely under water.  I didn't complain a bit though.  Later that day Mommy, Neena Connie and I went to the Snake Saturday St. Patrick's Day Parade.  We couldn't believe how many people were there.  It was NUTS!  We had to park a long way away and then barely found a spot to watch. I stood up during the entire parade and watched every second of it.  Parades are a fun time!  My Mommy forgot to take pictures.

On Sunday, I had a birthday party to go to for my friend Katie.  It was at the YMCA by our house (where I take swimming lessons).  We got to climb all over this cool jungle gym thing and bounce in a castle.  My favorite part was eating the chocolate cake and ice cream.

On Tuesday, Stacey, Brooke, Will, Mommy, and I all went to the Under the Sea exhibit at Crown Center.  It was super busy.  I guess everyone else also decided that today was a good day to go see it.  There were lots of tunnels and things to climb through.  Brooke and I had a good time.  Afterward we had lunch and then played by the cool orange sculpture.

Potty Training

It's official!  I'm potty training!  It all started one day because I was completely out of diapers at school.  Miss Amanda found some underwear so she put them on me.  I kept my underwear dry that entire day so Mommy decided to send me to school the next day in my big boy underwear!  I have kept my underwear dry at school since then.  At home I have had a couple of accidents with both pee and poop (especially the 2nd one), but I know I will learn to poop in the potty soon.  I still wear a pull-up or a diaper for nap and bedtime, but that's o.k.  My Mommy and Daddy are very proud of me!

Venice Pier

ImageBefore our plane took off we decided to take one last walk by the ocean so we headed to the Pier.  We walked all the way to the end of it together.  Mommy and Neena were fascinated by an egret hanging out by the bait.  I really wanted to get back in the water, but everybody said no since we were getting on the airplane soon.
On a side note- I have really been missing Florida.  When I was back at school on Monday, I got upset and flopped down on the floor and whined, "I want to go back to Florida!"  I said the same thing at breakfast at Tuesday as it started to snow here.

Siesta Key Beach, Pool Time, & The Jetty

ImageToday was 70 degrees so we headed to a new beach!  It is a really beautiful, wide beach made of dazzling white cool sand.  Apparently it came from quartz and never gets hot even in 100 degree heat.  I loved playing in the sand and standing in the water even though it was only 56 degrees.  I shrieked and giggled the whole time I was standing in the water.  I did lots of digging in the sand.  This year I didn't mind getting sandy although I did start out standing on the towel and trying to dig from there!  We ate lunch after the beach at Baja Grill which is on Siesta Key.  They had delicious food!

After my nap we went to the Jetty on Venice Beach to watch the sunset.  Even better than the sunset though were the pelicans.  There were a bunch of them really close to the Jetty in the water eating dinner.  They floated around in the water and scooped up fish in the big beaks.  It was really interesting to watch.  My Mommy almost missed the sunset because we were so into watching the pelicans!

I LOVE swimming!  I jumped in a whole bunch of time and giggled the entire time.  The only problem was that it was super cold when we got out.

For dinner we went to Captain Eddie's and had seafood.  Well, Mommy, Neena, and Neena's friend Carol did, but Papa and I didn't have any seafood.  I mainly ate crackers, applesauce, and some French Fries.

Mommy and I are visiting Neena Lori and Papa Dave in Florida again this year.  We had an early flight on Thursday morning.  Mommy said that I did an excellent job on the 2 airplanes we rode on.  Several ladies on the first flight told me I was very cute and was very well behaved.  Thank goodness for our DVD player.  The Curious Georgie movie definitely helped keep me busy.  When we arrived to Sarasota, we ate lunch and then went back to the condo for a nap.  Afterward, we got to go to the beach which is very close to play in the sand and watch the sunset.  It was really cold and windy too.

Dinner at The Soda Fountain.  We had delicious chocolate peanut butter milkshakes.  My first!
On Friday, we went to Myakka State Park.  We took an airboat ride and saw quite a few alligators and lots of birds; Anhingas, Cormorants, Black Vultures, and Snowy Egrets.  I was very good and sat on somebody's lap the whole ride.  The alligators were hard to see because they turn gray when they lay out in the sun.  Did you know that alligators have to be 80 to 85 degrees in order to digest their food?

After my nap, we went to Neena and Papa's new condo.  It is a little further from the beach, but is a very nice place.  Everything is new and fresh.  They get to keep all the furniture and things in it too!  The previous owner was a good decorator so it all looks very nice.  We will be able to come throughout the year now instead of just in January.  Maybe we'll come back next year over spring break since it will be a lot warmer then.  January just isn't all that warm-- 60's.
