4 Out of 35....

Image

It happened while I was sitting on Hurricane Ledge on Kaaterskill High Peak…

I looked out and said “I’ve climbed that one and that one and there’s the one that we climbed yesterday!”  Very neat to look out and see some of the ones that I have conquered!

Image

And in my mountain counting, I realized that I have 4 out of the 35 mountains needed for the Catskill 3500 club….

The reply?

“That’s how it starts!”

De Plane!

One of the many crashed planes as you hike to the top of Kaaterskill High Peak. I know, it is morbid but I have been wanting to see them for a while.

Luckily, my tour guide was agreeable to letting me choose some of the hikes!

Nine...

I definitely had a "Drop the anchor – I'm here to stay!!" feeling when I showed up on my first day.

Same fun people and same familiar surroundings with some new friends added to the mix.

There's definitely a "return to reality" haze now - I feel like I have been gone for 2 months!

I climbed, I created, I connected and I was complimented....I do love those connections, don't I?

It was an awesome week!!

Behold!

It has to be announced that way - Behold!

Yes, it's a new BBQ.

Image

While that fact is exciting just by itself, the bigger deal is that I assembled it!! My brother helped towards the end but it was mainly my project.

I made a working BBQ! And it works!!

The Swirl Continues….

As I was munching on yummy meat and smoked gouda while taking in the breeze on the porch yesterday afternoon, I had a “good things happen” moment.  My second guest-bartending gig was successful and the fundraiser brought in many faces that I normally do not get to spend time with.

I’m lucky to have a place like this.  It has always been special but that definition has changed so much in the in the past year.

I can dance my booty off under a meteor shower.  (I thought to stretch a bit beforehand)

I can float in a pool of piercing blue eyed conversation. (*swoon*)

I receive big bear hugs.

I can run the bar all by myself but don't have to since there is always at least one vistor.

I can let the dog off leash and know that she is looked after.

I can discuss the important things in life like the wrinkles on our fingertips and the accent beats of wipeout until 5 am.

I realized how much time I have spent with this specific group in the past year.  The “come in, drop your stuff and make yourself at home” feeling just flows.  It's a lovely swirl and I am enjoying my time in the middle of it!

Even better, there has not been a “Wake up! Stop dreaming, stop prancing about the woods” moment yet….It is moving forward and I like it!

Limelight...

Cue the next documentary driven obsession…Limelight

I never went to the Palladium or Limelight but I wanted to.

The whole thing that happened with the owner Peter Gatien really comes across as a witch hunt.  Yes, they wanted to clean up NYC but there were other people to go after as well.  He went from owning and operating the four strongest (and largest) clubs in NY to being penniless and deported.  He actually sold one of the clubs to pay for his legal defenses.

Despite my career background, it’s sad to see the Limelight as a mall.  Granted, people probably said that when the church became a nightclub.

Besides the pirate eye patch and his voice, there is something that just draws me to him.  I can’t quite put my finger on it …

Actually, I know what it is but I’m not ready to admit it out loud yet…..

Kitty Marching Band...

Some fun for Friday!

This could be recreated live with a whole lot of patience and deaf cats. I'll go start making the uniforms!

Opening Repeat!

After a nice breakfast in the garden and seeing my guests off, the trek was made for Day 2 of Opening Weekend. A bit tamer due to the kids this time around but still fun.

Image

Bonus for Opening Weekend is that every color you want in clothing and accessories are available! I am so excited about the new skirts – they have created a bunch of new outfits to wear just by mixing!

Image

We had a Serendipity re-mix moment – if you mention that person, they will appear! It’s magic!! (The fact that it happened both days was the interesting part.)  Too bad it didn't work for my friend from my mall days but we will meet up next month.

The Pub Sing was a great way to end the weekend.  Singin' balls to your partner, your ass against the wall, If ya never been had on a Saturday night, ya never been had at all...

It was great to go two days in a row especially since I will not be able to go until September due to my travel schedule.

Opening Day!

Lace up, lace up, lace up, breathe!!

Pant, pant, pant….

Lace up, lace up, lace up, breathe!!

It’s corset season!

Despite the rain, a bunch of us headed to the Ren Faire and it was a blast! (as always) The parking, food and drink prices have gone up so it did curb spending but not the enthusiasm.

There are some new shows, a bunch of new buildings and a few cast member changes (new Queen - panic!).  The secret Peacock pavilion is open too – shh, no lines!  And the Vixens En Garde are back to their original performance format.  It was great to meet the new ones and they were really good sports when taking some very silly pictures with us!
