sry everyone for not posting yesterday. cos i fell asleep when i came home. lol. btw this my 10th post. haha. the past 1 week i had been suffering quite a lot cos of 2 events. the OAL camp and the NPCC annual hike. actually the hike was ok lah not that tough but the OAL camp was the one that made me suffered. anyway last tuesday was our OAL camp and during the 1st day from morning to evening we had to walk from our schools to the changi campsite. wah we took around 9 hours to reach there. let me talk a bit abt the journey. 1st me and kian boon lead them but when we got to a place we started to argue whether we should cross the bridge. in the end i listened to him not to cross the bridge as he thought it won't be much a difference. then until we walked further i found out we were wrong! we should have crossed the bridge and so i asked for permissions to turn back to cross the bridge but mr goh yh scolded me and said i dunno how to lead so he asked darius sir to pick another person to lead. i was dam pissed at that point of time and wanted to blame kian boon. but thinking back at wad yong jie told me a few days ago " u blame others because u wan to make urself feel happier" i told myself that it was not right to blame others for ur own mistakes. i could have choose to cross the bridge myself without listening to kian boon's words. why do i blame him now? so we continued the journey and had our lunch at some place which i had forgotten. i ate minced pork noodle and had coke. then carried on the journey till we reached the east coast park. from there, we had to sing songs for mr goh yh. if we cant we will backtrack 100m so james(loo) and i keep leading songs but there were times that we had to backtrack cos mr goh yh can't hear us and we also lacked of songs to sing. haiz. then there's one part where me and james quota off and cannot lead anymore then the others had to lead lor. btw the songs we were singing were nursery rhymes. lol. i was quite disappointed with kian boon cos he didn't lead quite much. haiz. but anyway we continued our journey and then until there's a turn to the campsite. mr goh yh said we had to carry casualties to the campsite. so darius sir chose me and another big-sized guy to be the casualties lor. since he said i 1 leg broken so i used another leg to hop lor. but the thing is that my legs aching a lot lah. but i endured and suddenly he said my 2 legs now injured. then no choice they had to carry me lor. when they carrying me i was like thinking that i am so useless la. can do nothing. when they put me down on the entrance of the campsite. they kena scolded for putting me down on the road. so they carried me in to the place we are supposed to gather and can see that they were all tired lah. i felt so useless cos i can't help in anyway. somemore they also had to carry my bag for me. haiz. btw thanks everyone that carried me. i noe all of ur suffered much more than me. ok we finally reached the campsite but our legs like going to break liao and our shoulders were suffering too lah. imagine u walking under the hot sun for 9 hours with ur camping bag. wah its like u gonna collapse anytime lah. but anyway my group was not the last to reach. while waiting for the last group to come we got pumped cos of some mistakes we made during the journey. then we did some cool down exercise and i was like having cramps all over my legs. so wee siong sir came and help me to ease my pain. btw my 2 ICs were darius sir and wee siong sir. for ur info, this camp is not npcc de is school de so other group ICs are not all from npcc 1, some come from ncc and other CCAs too. so, after the cool down exercise my leg muscles were still aching and walk a bit also pain lah but no choice still had to carry on with the activities. then at around 7 or 8 yongjie's group came and told us their story during our dinner. he said mr goh made them go back to school 3 times. 1st time is because one of their members forget another member's name then second and third time i think is because mr goh play scissors paper stone with them and they lost so they had to go back. not only that, when they are at changi 4 of them had to carry another 4 of their members and the rest had to carry their bags for them. ok anyway the first day nothing special for the rest of the day. then second day had our PT in the morning and had to run 22 rounds around the campsite cos of some mistakes we made during the 1st day. we ran 11 rounds and then breakfast liao. the good thing is that i never fall out during the run. haha. next activity was kayaking. wah the sun was dam hot and we were out in the sea for around 3 hours i guess. it was like so tiring when we were kayaking and some of them even had sea sick while kayaking. jason was 1 of them and he vomited quite a few times. when we got up to the land it was so shuang but we found out we got sunburn even though we applied sunblock lotion. but it wasnt that serious lah. btw i have to thanks kian boon a lot for helping me with the kayaking. he is dam strong. lol. ok then nothing special until midnight. haha. when it was time to lights out which is around 11.45pm we(npcc people) had a conversation with our sirs till around 3am. we were told to give personal opinions to each of our squadmates during normal training and during the camp. we also had to give the ratings for ourselves and the reason for the rating and the post we are aiming for now. one by one we gave our opinions and we had quite a lot of fun too. the opinions my squadmates gave to me were that i am a person that dun give up easily but i am a hot-tempered person. some other comments i can't remember but these are the 2 main points i think. oh ya yongjie say i always late when meeting up. haha. true. ok the post i aiming is Logistics Head lah. then wee siong sir describe me as a person who has a $2 note at my mouth but when u keep pulling u will see a $100 note in the end. and he also said i am a situational leader. darius sir say in order to have fun as a Logistics Head u nid to have a chairman that bring u out to have fun during training. haha. shun yu sir say i can either be sec 1 PTI or secretary. lol. me PTI... hahaha. maybe he say wrongly lah. quite happy to hear those comments they gave me and i think at the same time it is also motivational. so now i will change my bad temper and habits and work hard in NPCC de. then it was our turn to give our sirs our comments. ya then after that we went to sleep lor. the next morning we ran 11 rounds again to complete the 22 rounds we owed. then learned belaying and then packed up and had our lunch then go back school. at the school had some debriefing then break camp liao. there are a lot of things we learned from this camp but i remembered 1 of them very clearly. "to be a leader do not be afraid to make mistake but to learn from your mistake and do not commit them again". that was all for the three days. the hike i will talk about it another day.
