One Project is a nonprofit building infrastructure for a new economy where resources serve people and planet, not profit.

We partner with the rising global movement for economic democracy to build core technology, mobilize catalytic resources, and show the world that a better system is possible today.

The Problem

Our economic system incentivizes profit above all else. So when we see ecological degradation, addictive products, exploitative technology, and runaway inequality, these aren't random problems.

They're predictable outcomes of how the system was built. Meanwhile, what truly matters goes chronically underfunded despite unprecedented wealth.

Our Vision

Imagine a world in which communities thrive with their basic needs secure, technology serves human wellbeing, and our living Earth regenerates. Imagine a world abundant in clean energy, healthy food, community childcare, leisure time, and neighborhoods designed around connection and creativity.

This world can be our world if we transition to economic democracy aligned with humanity's deepest values and dreams.

What is Economic Democracy?

Economic democracy means we the people decide how resources are used to meet our needs. It’s any system where everyone has a meaningful voice in shaping the economy through participatory tools and processes, ensuring decisions about land, infrastructure, and money serve the common good. By aligning economic incentives with human wellbeing and planetary health rather than profit, economic democracy creates just, desirable futures for all.

How do we hold justice and racial equity?

With deep reverence. We are in a period of learning, listening and developing how we can hold our practices in alignment with our beliefs.

One Project’s work is animated by a shared vision of a better world, held by many people, in many places. We understand that reckoning with problems of governance and economics is also reckoning with problems of colonization, race, gender, class, disability, sexuality, and various other facets of being. One Project strives to flow in just harmony with people and planet alike. We are in an active listening and learning posture as we develop our Justice, Equity, Decolonization, and Inclusion (JEDI) values. Our commitments and practices around these are a work in progress, and we look forward to sharing a more thorough overview publicly and soon.
