Random things I did for my birthday

1. Used an old perfume of my mom's. It's been more than 6 years since she passed away but I still miss her and the scent reminded me of her today. Yep. I'm teary-eyed while I'm typing this.

2. Went to the doctor to have my toe checked. waited for about an hour for a five-minute checkup. Toe is healing nicely even if the nail that was growing back broke off. I still have to continue medication though. And I can't wear closed shoes so it'll be flip-flops for the next few months.

Doctor told me that the toe still has bruising and a hematoma because of the time that OJT dropped the stack of poster boards on my toe just two days after the toenail was surgically removed. And that sucker--the OJT--never apologized.

3. Met up with my sister who took my one and half month old niece to the doctor. Tried desperately to keep her (my niece, not my sister) from crying every time I carried her. Succeeded some of the time. :)

4. Tried to withdraw cash but discovered my ATM card's magnetic strip was now unreadable! I can't get my pay! I have no money to treat my friends for my birthday! I have no cash to pay the bills! I have no money to treat my friends for my birthday! I can't treat my family to dinner! I have no money to treat my friends for my birthday! Did I mentionI have no money to treat my friends for my birthday! :D

5. Ate a late lunch at the Old Spaghetti House at Market Market with my sister. Had a creme brulee trio for dessert and didn't like the chocolate version because it was too bitter. The apple and cinnamon cheesecake my sister had was still FROZEN. So disappointed in that.

6. Dropped by the AXN 3 on 3 event at Market Market where Maxim is a sponsor to seeLeslie and Robert. The AXN people are old friends (like Ying, Greg, and Maria. Daphne, Jeanne, and Dinesh are ex-AXN people whom I like :)

7. Missed seeing Robert getting kissed on the lips by Hershey!!! Damn. Damn. Damn.

8. Was tempted to buy a cute cow figure on display only to come to the realization that sooner or later Bambi will get her one of those things. She has been giving me cow-themed stuff for six or seven years now.

9. Met up with my sister-in-law, nephew, and niece for a late afternoon snack at Cupcakes by Sonja. Saw Claudine with Raymart and their kids, her sisters Gretchen and Marjorie and their kids but was too shy to say hi to her :)

10. Doing some editing for work while attending to Facebook, Twitter, Multiply, and Blogger. :)

11. Glad I didn't go to the office on my birthday for once. Perhaps my workaholic gene is subsiding

Mocha is the flavor of Maxim's Gay and Lesbian issue

MAXIM Philippines shakes up the men’s magazine’s genre this month with the first ever Gay and Lesbian Issue, with controversial singer Mocha on the cover. Mocha, front woman of the Mocha Girls and a self-confessed bisexual, dominates the cover flanked by one of her back-up singers, Hershey.

Since joining the magazine as a photo blogger in February, Mocha has provided MAXIM with plenty of monthly sizzle with pictures of her making out with a series of attractive females. In the magazine’s most provocative cover shoot ever, Mocha evokes sexual freedom as she is joined by her girl group, which also include Bez and Grace.

Boy Abunda leads the issue’s centerpiece feature, “Gays’ Night Out At Classmate,” in which Boy and four other prominent gay men hold a roundtable discussion of gay issues inside a VIP room of Classmate, the preeminent gentleman’s club—in the company of sexy GROs (guest relations officers) and a stripper. Writer and gay activist Danton Remoto, fashion designer Puey Quiñones, Magic 89.9 deejay Mojo Jojo, and magazine editor Carlo Tadiar join Boy, the host of The Buzz and Showbiz News Ngayon, in this not-so-private conversation about homosexuality in the Philippines.

MAXIM begins the collection of articles on gays and lesbians with a mock cover featuring another controversial celebrity, Binibini Gandanghari, the artist formerly known as Rustom Padilla. MAXIM addresses the country’s most famous transgendered person in an open letter that is humorous, heartfelt and compassionate.

Other eye-popping pictorials feature World Wrestling Entertainment diva Eve, theater and film actress Angeli Bayani and the amazing tandem of MAXIM babes Tracy Torres and Mellow Johnson.

Other major features in the issue are a nostalgia piece on Bagets, the classic youth movie that marks its 25th anniversary this year, and a pre-fight analysis of the much-anticipated Manny Pacquiao-Ricky Hatton fig

The Annual P3 Reunion!

It's time for the P3 reunion! The staff of Bitter Gourd Talent Management and the boys of P3--Vince Valvolene, Ryan Rev-X, Dodong "Diether" Diesel, and Cody Havoline--who still looked hot and hunky (cough) met up for their annual Christmas dinner. The band may have broken up but the boys promise to make their comeback soon. Here's a shout out to our former manager Nick B. who is now in New Zealand. Nick! Wish you were here!

Oh yeah! Broke my record from last year and got the planner just three days after the campaign started last November 4. I also still hold the record for getting the planner first from the Starbucks I usually go to. Yep. Mababaw lang ang aking kaligayahan! Haven't slept in days though. Hehehehehehe!

Things I learned hanging out in a café located in the rich side of town

• That I really am a poor schmuck. Kids—mind you kids—tote laptops in bags that cost more than my annual income. Then the parents come in toting bags that cost my annual income for the next three years plus change.

• Teens nowadays are heck of a lot girlier. I was hauling my stuff in a trusty Samsonite laptop backpack while they had dainty leather bags.

• Kids have huge allowances. They must spend around a P100-plus per drink per day and that doesn’t include their lunch money, their snack money, etc. So much for the hundred pesos a week I had then.

• Women who are—ehem—on the heavy side should never wear very tight checkered short shorts and then bend over. Waahhhhhh! Men should never do this too! I would have taken a photo but I was too afraid.

• While you worry about your deadline, your seatmate is worrying if she should get the new LV bag since se just bought one.
