Trick or treat 2013

My kids are now TOO COOL to trick or treat with mom. The seventh graders all gathered at our house and off they went. Had to force them to stop for the camera.

The 6th graders were happy to pose for the camera!

The 1st graders were more interested in pictures than candy ;)
Happy Halloween 2013

Avery 1st grade Halloween Party

Aunt Marcie was amazing and dressed up to come help at Avery's class party this year. She told jokes, read stories, and brought "bones and blood" for a snack (breadsticks & marinara)

We did some "mad scientist" experiments
played "don't eat frank-enstein" and had a throw the sticky eye ball into the zombies eye socket game (not pictured)
ImageAnother experiment, baking soda/vinegar  volcanoes

and of course, the Halloween Parade. Avery is my only one left in the parade :'(

Costumes 2013

At our school they don't allow the 6th graders to dress-up for Halloween but, they do require them to come dressed in Egyptian style clothing as part of the Egyptian unit they are working on. So here is Haylees first costume....

Avery was supposed to be Aurora but changed her mind at the last second and switched to a cat. Meow.....
Ethan is the fox from "What did the fox say" an popular youtube video  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jofNR_WkoCE
ImageEvery year we get the MacGillvray cousins together to take Halloween pictures. I miss Grandma Mac like crazy this time of year so, taking these pictures is bitter/sweet. These kids sure are growing up quick!

Just my crazies...Haylees 2nd costume is a 60s biker chick (from Disneys Teen Beach Movie)

Pumpkin carving 2013

With our busy schedule we waited until the night before Halloween to carve our pumpkins this year. We were in a rush because we were not home from our activities until after 7. Dad and Avery cleaned out the pumpkins and mom carved. Avery drew a jack o lantern face on a piece of paper and we used that as a stencil.

Averys finished product.
Haylee volunteered to help at the haunted train in our community so she was all dressed up for our carving party. She is in a mustache loving phase so she went with just a mustache.
Haylees finished pumpkin.
All lit up and Spooky (not really)
Poor Ethan had too much homework to do so he opted not to carve this year. I don't think he was really disappointed.

Grandma Great

We have been spending alot of time with our Great Grandma Shippen. We love to go pick her up and bring her home to have dinner with us...and a few times (on family night) she stays until the kids are in bed and we watch 24 together. (I think we got her hooked ;) ) Anyways, the kids have really enjoyed having her around more. I love these pictures of Aves and Grandma reading together,...well, I actually think Aves insisted on reading to Grandma.

Happy Saint Patricks Day!

How lame is it that out of the last 9 months I update with St. Patrick's Day pictures? I know, I know hopefully I will start to do better:) I have a ton of things I want to remember and need to write about. But, until then...here are some updated pictures of my kids all dressed in their green, and a picture of the pot of gold they woke up to.
HAPPY SAINT PATRICKS DAY!!!

Finding my style

Every year around this time I get the bug to start projects. I love a good project. This year I finally got Andy to agree to help paint the living room. I have been loving blue lately so I decided to be bold and paint it blue. I love the way it turned out :) Next we really need to paint the front room (the room you can see thru the hole in the wall) the colors DO NOT compliment eachother at all. I have a lot of empty wall space now and I need some ideas of what to do. I have a few things I am considering, but I would love some help...please? If you have an idea of what you think would look good, let me know :)
