sunday pals
On Sundays the two of you are best pals. Other days of the week get filled with school, homework, friends, TV, video games. But Sundays are different. On Sundays its just us and no media. On other days Grace and Ella are often a team, but Sundays it always seems to be the two of you. Without the TV or computer you get very creative. I love having a day to eliminate distractions and just have time together. Today you played some game with umbrellas all morning before church and then you spent hours after church constructing a fort outside complete with club rules. I love it. I hope you can always be such good friends.

hidden
I made cookies on Friday afternoon. That night I hid them. I knew the kids would wake up early on Saturday and they would be gone before I could drag myself out of bed. I must have done a good job hiding them. Saturday night at dinner I announced that I had cookies for dessert. Suddenly the kids all remembered that they hadn't had any that day. Grace very honestly proclaimed: "Why did you hide the cookies? I couldn't find them today and sneak into them!"

picnic
These two assured me that the sunny weather we were experiencing today meant that they must have a picnic. So we spread out a blanket and made up some sandwiches. Never mind that with that sun came wind and bugs; offering just enough distraction, that precious little lunch was actually eaten. I am sure these two would argue that eating was not the point of the picnic. They were there for the experience, not the much needed nutrition. As their mother, I beg to differ, though it did me little good. They had their fun in their sun and came in happy and hungry.

egg hunt with the Jacksons
This year we got to do our egg hunt with the Jackson cousins. Uncle Mike was even in town and bought us all pizza and candy to fill up the eggs. Tiffany brought a few eggs with money in them which made the hunt even more exciting for the older kids. We're so glad to live close to family so that we can enjoy the holidays with them.
fun at the park
While Steve worked today I took the kids to a few egg roundups (I refuse to call them hunts - there is no hunting involved) in our area. At one of them we got to meet the Easter bunny - who completely terrorized Grace - yeah I think he's a little creepy too, sweetheart. And at another we met Sparky the fire dog who Grace was delighted to meet. The kids had fun chasing down some free candy and then Ella practiced up on her monkey bar skills. She is so proud of this new talent that she picked up at school.
