Compiled by Azizi Powell, Pancocojams Founder & Editor

This pancocojams post presents some information about and data for this pancocojams blog.

This post also provides links to twenty-five pancocojams posts that were published in 2025 that I've chosen to highlight because of their content.

Thanks to all those who have visited pancocojams this year.

Happy New Year!

****
EXPLANATION FOR THE BLOG NAME "PANCOCOJAMS"
"Pancocojams" is an expansion of the title that I coined* for my previous (now inactive) cultural website- "cocojams".

When I coined the word "pancocojams", I gave it the meaning "Black cultures around the world".

"pan" = worldwide

"coco" = chocolate (= Black people)

"jams" = music (expanded meaning - "cultures")

My "cocojams" cultural blog was launched in 2001 and voluntarily deactivated in 2014.

*It wasn't until some years after I "coined" the word "cocojams" that I found out that it was a previously existing word.

These Editor's Choice posts range from serious historical or contemporary subjects to entertainment or recreational topics.

These posts are presented in chronological order based on their publishing date in this blog. This list isn't given in preferential order as I selected some of the posts on this list because of their historical or contemporory sociological-cultural (socio-cultural) content and I chose other posts on this list because of their folkloric recreational or entertainment content.

Why Pancocojams Focuses On A Wide Range of Black Cultural Topics (& Sometimes Other Socio-Cultural Topics)

Edited by Azizi Powell

Latest revision- December 26, 2025

This pancocojams blog was launched on August 29, 2011. Pancocojams' mission is to s
howcase the music, dances, language practices, & customs of African Americans and of other people of Black descent throughout the world.

Pancocojams focuses on a wide range of Black cultural topics to help raise the level of awareness of and information about those topics which often have been overlooked or given minimal attention online and off-line.

Pancocojams also focuses on children's rhymes, cheers, and singing games. Some of these recreational compositions that are featured on pancocojams may not have originated with Black people. However, other children's rhymes, cheers, and singing games that are showcased on pancocojams were/are created by or adapted by African Americans or by other Black people.

In addition to this content, this pancocojams blog sometimes departs from its main mission by featuring posts about other socio-cultural topics that mostly refer to the United States but sometimes (also or only) refer to other nations.

This particular post documents the eclectic nature of this blog by presenting a hyperlinked list of the twenty top pancocojams posts that were visited (i.e. "viewed") by people within a time period culminating on December 25, 2025 at 9:50 AM EST.
This list reflects some of the wide ranging interests of this blog as these posts include topics from United States cultures,  Nigerian cultures, Ghanaian cultures, and Caribbean cultures.

A top twenty list of all posts that have been published on this blog is automatically compiled every day by Google blogpost and that list periodically changes throughout each day.

In addition to that data, this December 25, 2025 pancocojams post includes the total number of views for those identified top twenty posts from the date and time of their publication to December 25, 2025 around 10:00 AM EST.

My visits to these posts aren't added to any of the numbers for the daily tallies or for any other pancocojams blog tallies.

The content of this post is presented for informational purposes. Thanks to the Google blogspot features that include these daily tallies of the top twenty posts within a particular period of time.

Publishing this list can help visitors to this blog find posts that they may be interested in visiting again or visiting for the first time.

All copyrights remain with their owners.

Thanks to all of those who are featured in or who contributed to the content of the posts that are included in this list.

Thanks to all those who have visited pancocojams.

Happy holidays to all!

I decided not to publish a post of this subject any longer because , given the time frame, the top posts have been consistently the same for a number of years.

**
A post that provides the title and links to the top ten pancocojams posts from August 1 2024-September 30, 2025 will be published around December 32, 2025 and its link will be added to this post.

I think the name of this children choir is the "
London Community Gospel Choir". I don't know what "2020" refers to since this concert was held in 2011 and this video was published in 2012. If you have any information about this choir please share it in the discussion thread below. Thanks!

SOME EXPLANATIONS FOR "COMMONLY FOUND" LYRICS AND OTHER LYRICS FOR THIS SONG
[I gleaned these explanations from several offline and online sources.]

One for the little bitty baby (meaning Jesus).
Two for Paul and Silas. (or "two for Mary and Joseph")
Three for the three men riding (meaning the three Kings/Magi); or "three for the Hebrew children")
Four for the four knocking on the door (meaning the Four Evangelists).
Five for the Five that came back alive (or "five for the Gospel preachers")
Six for the six that never got fixed.
Seven for the seven that all went to Heaven
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate.
Nine for the nine that stood in the line.
Ten for the Ten Commandments.
Eleven for the eleven deriders.
Twelve for the Twelve Apostles (or the twelve Disciples)

In the line "eleven deriders", "deriders" means people who deride (ridicule) the Bible. Because of folk processing (accidental mishearing, misremembering etc.) that line is also given as "eleven is the (or for the) Gospel riders (or Gospel writers).

"What do you get when you take a classic R&B song from the ‘80’s and add some ‘soul’ful moves?

You got a new line dance that is taking social media by storm!

Over the summer everybody was picking up fans to 803 Fresh and now Uncle Charlie Wilson and the Gap Band got everybody getting up “Early In The Morning” for a new line dance.

From family reunions, backyard cookouts, or just a night out with friends you are guaranteed to find the dance floor packed with individuals vibin’ to the latest line dances and this one didn’t disappoint as it has the Auntie’s and Uncle’s having a nostalgic moment from back in the day and introducing a newer generation to our R&B legends.”…
