baller

I signed Easton up to do the UVU basketball camp again this summer.  I really liked it last year and liked it again this year.  He was more comfortable this year, thankfully.

I hope he will continue on in basketball.  He is not the kid that has raw talent, but he has lots of heart.  And he is a great defender.  Sticks to the other player like glue.  :)

finally!

Look who finally earned her bike!  I think I might be a mean mom and I make my kids do extra chores around the house to earn a bike.  They don't get one for just having a birthday.  Oh, well, maybe it makes them appreciate it more?
Image
She has been working on getting this doing extra chores for almost a year.  She was not as enthusiastic as Easton was, who finished his chart in a few months.  But, she finally finished and we went and chose this Strawberry Shortcake bike.  She really wanted one with a doll seat on the back, but they only offer those in the super small bikes.  Lame.  But, we got a Barbie mirror and a cute bell and she was so excited.

boys will be boys

Parker hosted a Superman event for work and got this cut-out for people to take pictures with.  Here he is with his brother, Lawton.  Crazy boys.

daddy / son time

Parker and Easton went fishing one morning.  Easton loves going fishing with Daddy, even when they don't catch anything.

superman / lily

In June we acquired a small, baby grouse.  Easton named him Superman, Keagan named her Lily.  Our neighbors cat got to the mother and the baby was wandering the neighborhood.  Parker and the kids were so excited.  Me?  Not so much.  I am allergic to any animal with fur or feathers, so I didn't think this would be a good idea.  It was actually a good, little bird.  It would climb in and out of its cage and just wander the backyard.  It would let the kids hold it and come to you when you tapped the ground.  We had it for a total of 4 days.  We went out and checked on it one morning and it was doing great, checked a couple of hours later and the neighbors cat was sitting in our fenced backyard...no baby grouse.  We told the kids that it got strong enough and flew to the lake and found another grouse family.  We then went and looked around the house and I saw it.  As much as I didn't want it, I was sad when it was all over.  I don't want to do it again with another animal, but glad my kids had the small opportunity.

little fishies

at the beginning of June, we did swim lessons.  my kids loved it.  they became little fishies and I would love to do another session in August if we have time.  they went for 8 days (monday - thrusday), for a 1/2 hour.

cousin time

our California cousins came into town at the end of May.  one day we went to Kangaroo Zoo.  it was so hot out and the kids had fun in their air-conditioned place.  it was not busy at all either, so it was nice.  the pictures are not great, it is hard to get them to hold still for more than a half of a second.

summer hair

The weekend after school got out Parker shaved Easton's head.  It was getting so shaggy and it is nice that I don't have to put gel in it anymore.

preschool graduate

Keagan has officially graduated from preschool.  She was so excited and insisted on wearing her wedding dress for the graduation.  Luckily, her little friend wanted to wear his batman costume, so she wasn't the only one "dressed up."

memorial day

memorial day weekend.  we always go to the cemeteries to visit the grandparents and my dad's sister on Sunday.  the kids all think they are so strong carrying the flowers to each grave.  then hearing Buddy's stories about each person as we stop at the graves.  a good tradition.

then on Monday we go to JoJo's house for sourdough pancakes.  soooo yum.  then the annual wiffle ball game with all the cousins.  watching my super competitive cousins be cute with the littles as they get up to bat.  and all the uncles trying to act like they are 30 still....  :)

easton waiting patiently for his turn to bat.  he was so cute cheering on his teammates.

a good family weekend.

mother's day

I am not going to lie...I have never liked Mother's Day.  I don't really know why, I just think it is a stupid holiday.  This year I didn't mind it as bad.  My kids were not perfect, but I was okay with that.  My house wasn't spotless, but I was okay with that.

As stupid as I think Mother's Day is, I am so blessed to be a mother to these two crazies.  I don't know what I would do without them.  They make me a better (and sometimes crazier) person.
