This morning Renee came to me distraught with one shoe in her hand and had said that her shoe was squeaking when she walked and didn’t know what to do about it. She couldn’t possibly go to school with and squeaky shoe as that would be the death of her socially. We tried to work it out and figure out why it was squeaking. I had no idea what to do about it and she had no other shoes as viable options to wear. So I consulted my good friend “Google”
Thankfully it gave a bunch of “home remendies” to try. We tried a bunch, and as they didn’t improve the situation Renee kept getting more and more discouraged. I kept reminding her that if we think positive and think we can....we will find a way. But if we give up and lose hope then we won’t.
We had been trying to teach them about grit, and I reminded her that this is grit, to which she replied she didn’t care about grit she just wanted her shoe to stop squeaking! Lol!
So we got to the next remedy to try which required pulling up her insole to put baby powder under neath it. She st First was reluctant to allow me to pull it up as if that was going to ruin her shoe, and I reminded her that I’m trying to help fix it and if this helps don’t you want to try it? She agreed and actually helped me get the insole up for me to put baby powder underneath... and low and behold....it worked!! No more squeaking!!
And a very humble “thank you mom” came out of her mouth next. 🤗
I was grateful for he way that turned out. Grateful for the life lesson learned about staying positive in the midst of trials. Not giving up, and being negative. Grateful for team work, and her gratefulness which isn’t always seen or expressed. And grateful for the blessing of technology as there would of been no way I could of figured that out on my own 🤪😂
