Grandma and Grandpa John come to town!
It's like Christmas every time we have Grandparents come to visit! We have count down till they come just like for Christmas. :-) This time was especially exciting because we were planning a camping trip when they came.
We went to JellyStone Park and stayed in these cute log cabins right on a lake. They have playgrounds, a dog park and fishing and forest for the kids to adventure around. It's really nice to be out in the great outdoors and feel the fresh air. It is a lot of work to plan and pack for, but worth it in my book. Especially with moms help, it goes quickly with her efficiency.
We had a great time getting used to the park, having a campfire dinner, and playing with glow sticks past dark. Boys slept in one cabin with me, and the girls slept in one cabin with Grandma and Grandpa.
We woke up to eggs and sausage breakfast, with bagels and fruit and hot chocolate. It was delicious and a beautiful morning. The adventuring started, with setting turtle traps, hiking and a craft at the lodge. Mom took the 3 younger kids to the craft, while Grandpa John and the boys and I worked on Webelos stuff. I worried about mom having to handle all 3 of the wild ones for a craft and then walking back for it. Well i wished i hadn't of worried, because maybe what happened next wouldn't of happened....
I met mom and the kids up at the lodge and she excitedly told me that she rented a golf cart for the day to make our day more fun and easy to get around. Well she was to nervous to drive and felt it would be "safer" for me to drive so we switched seats and she hopped in the back with Jordan. The girls each wanted to take turns driving so Kaylee went first hoping on my lap. They were really cute about how excited they were about the experience.
Renee says to Kaylee "Wow Kaylee, you are a good driver!"
and Kaylee responds...."Well we are twins, so you will be great too!"
Probably one of the cutest twin things I've heard, at least in a long time haha!
Well shortly after that is when i wish i could do differently. The twins wanted to trade and take turns, so Renee jumped onto my lap and started and the road ahead looked "dangerous" because cars were parked on both sides and people were carrying large things across the road for a high school reunion, so i decided to U-Turn and go a different route, to be "safer" Well Mom was sitting in the back and lost her balance and flew off onto the gravel road and hit her head on a rock. She was yelling "ow, ow, ow!" I helped her up and drove her back to camp. We laid her down and she was getting dizzy and started throwing up, so Grandpa John took her to the hospital. They determined that she had a concussion, but to be safe they wanted to keep her over night and transfer to a Trauma Hospital just in case she started bleeding in the middle of the night, she would avoid a helicopter flight and about $30,000 fee. So Joe and John went to visit Grandma and give her a blessing and returned once they transferred her to the other hospital to figure out how we would get grandma home.
So we decided that Joe and John should go home and take Wrigley and Jordan with him. He would drop them off and he could take Joe's car to go get Grandma. I stayed with the kids and tried to salvage what remained of the camping trip. We packed up as much as we could before they left and just left the essentials to make it easier clean up.
We enjoyed a camp fire, roasting marshmallows, and singing songs around the campfire, until it got to cold. Then headed into the cabins for some games and then headed for bed. The boys slept in a cabin by themselves and and I joined the Girls in their cabin. Kaylee actually bundled up with me and Renee slept on the top bunk.
We woke up to a beautiful morning and made pancakes and a fire of course. We cleaned up camp, packed up and headed out by 9:00 and made it home by 10:45. Joe was great and unloaded the car, helped get the kids showered and ready for church and I took off for my meeting.
Joe called when I got out and said that 2 of the kids have fevers and decided that they will stay home for sacrament, and we will swap during 2nd and 3rd hour.
I was surprised when I got home from church that mom wasn't even home yet, i called and she said that she was still waiting to be discharged. So we got the kids to bed since they weren't feeling well, and waited up for mom to get home. She didn't get home till 10:30. went straight to bed. I rubbed her back and neck and help tuck her in. It was nice to be her nurse, a sweet tender moment.
She slept till late morning, and went back to bed and kept sleeping till 3. We just took it easy for the rest of the trip. Which is abnormal for time spent with mom, it's normally go go go!
It was actually perfect timing to take it easy because I was just put in charge of the Ward Christmas Party so we sat on the couch and planned it all out. She is the perfect person to do that with because she loves parties, loves themes, and does it with such fun enthusiasm.
She did muster up the energy to finish sewing the girls Halloween costumes, and help me make a bunch of fire starters. It was a nice trip. Just wish that accident didn't happen, but accidents happen, unfortunately and have to be grateful it wasn't worse than it was!

Jordan the super hero
I was telling a story about Jesus on the cross to Jordan and had a picture of it in front of him, and he interrupted me saying I would beat the bad guys and cut down that and take the pookie things out and help the 2 other guys. I said oh ya, why would you do that? He said "because I love Jesus."
And that's my super hero...
Love him!!!

Families Are Forever
We have just had an amazing experience participating in pageant. Joe Jordan and I play a small part in the Nauvoo Pageant and Play "Angels" where we come out during the Funeral scene while the cast is singing ....
tonight a lady approached us and said that she was so grateful that we were in pageant, she was so touched by the Angel scene because Jordan looks just like her 3 yr son Caleb whom she just lost the week before Christmas this past year. She of course was in tears and we hugged, but she was grateful for that tender mercy of reminding her that her family is forever and she will see him again someday.
She started a foundation in his honor for organ donation, as he was able to help many children who were need. That raised many questions from our children and she was happy to answer. They again asked us more questions, and we explained to them, and reminded them that our friend Emma Cobb is going to need a new heart again someday and the only way she will be able to get a new heart is if a healthy child (like Caleb) dies and is willing to donate his or her heart to her. there are many children like Emma waiting for help, and Heavenly Father allows some to die so that others might live, Just like His Son Jesus Christ, he died for all of us and in a sense donated his organs to us, and if we take care of our organs and make good choices we can return to live with him again someday.
We were reminded of this and encouraged to be more loving and kind to one another. We told each of them that we love them and had them each tell each other that we love them. We were all in tears and had very heart felt hugs.
I am reminded that the Lord is good and in charge. He allowed it to be that we were not only in pageant, but this Red Cast which would be the only time she would be here to see that pageant, we were assigned to be the angels, and we were miracously able to meet up after the performance. It was a real struggle with the kids that day, it was the 9th day of staying up late and getting up early. so they were voicing all of their discomforts about life, in a not so pleasant voice its too cold, it's raining I'm wet, my feet hurt, I'm tired, he's touching me...... and on and on...... so once the finale was over Joe and I discussed the travel arrangements Joe was going to take 3 of the kids and gather our things and take them home to put them in bed as....soon....as.....possible! But he was detoured to the snack shack and this lady was able to meet us up there.
Then on the way to the parking lot, I was still in awe of the conversation that had just transpired and kind of speechless, and Jonathan walked up and said hello and immediately asked Jordan if he liked being an Angel, and the tears began to fall again and I shared the experience with him again.
I got home and Ryan was visibly still shaken up and crying, and Joe told me to go give him a hug, and I was able to pull him aside so we could have some peace and told him it was ok to cry and he had a big vocal cry and we had a tender moment. We shared that it was a sad story that he died, but it was a great reminder about the plan of salvation. We have a little boy that they want, but they will see him again someday by going to the temple and making good choices they can.

Ryan's band concert

Ryan learned to play the trumpet this year. And although it was tough, he stuck through it and his hard work paid off! It was fun seeing him preform and it was nice being there as a family. As a reward for a job well done I took him and his friend to get a treat at Dairy Queen, which they really enjoyed :-)

Fun in Feb
The girls got invited to a birthday party and they had a fun "face painter" which painted their faces and mine when I came to pick them up!
and then Jordan wanted his done too when we got home. I'm not as good as my friend haha!

Ice Cream always tastes better when enjoyed with a buddy.
What do you do on a "snow day?"..... make a "Sibling Sandwhich!"
A special note to a special guy!
I never get "tired" of this!
Jordan has the opportunity to earn a prize at preschool everyday, but he only earns one once a week. So it's a happy day when he actually gets one!

Gingerbread Houses
I actually DON'T like making gingerbread houses, usually it's a Christmas tradition that we do if we are invited to do with someone else, or when grandma comes to town.
But this year, I did it, I helped the kids make not only gingerbread houses but a train and a Nativity set! There was a contest in town and it was for a good cause and it got everyone involved. It was really fun, moreso than I originally thought. haha!

Music time
Music time has been a favorite time for all of my kids. And I have to say it's a favorite time of mine too. It's a special time we get to share an have fun together. And there are so many Kodak moments! Haha

"Jitter-bug and Ju-Ju"
These two are best buddies
They are ebony and ivory twins ;-)
I babysit him quite a lot and it makes it nice that Jordan
has a buddy to play with since his preschool is only half day.
On days that I don't babysit him, Jordan is not happy about it!
