What is LANCommander?LANCommander is a self-hosted digital game distribution platform. Digital storefronts like Steam have made PC gaming easier than ever by providing convenience. This project aims to provide similar comforts while allowing control over your own library.How does it work?The platform is split into two pieces: a server that provides a robust management of your library and an addon for the <a href="https://playnite.link" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">Playnite</a> launcher to install the games. Have multiple users you want to share your library with? No problem! LANCommander comes with multi-user management and provides a level of "cloud" features such as cloud saving and play session tracking.Why does it exist?The creator of the project became increasingly annoyed with ensuring that games were installed properly across a dozen machines at a recurring LAN party. Too much time was being wasted with frustrations of CD key collisions, improper patching, and incomplete installs. What started off as a simple way to automate game installs across multiple computers in LAN turned into a fairly compelling distribution platform with day-one support for a multi-user environment.What perks come with supporting this page?Currently, no perks are tied to the different tiers. This page will be used for development updates and general tips/tricks for getting games configured for your own platform. If you enjoy the software, any contribution is greatly appreciated. The funds likely go towards the developer's tool licensing, LAN party hardware, and a few bottles of Bawls.
