Mixed Emotions

Image

I have and will always hate good byes. I am the type of person who gets attached quickly. As the Staff Assistant in the office I probably have the most interaction with the interns. Not only are they incredibly helpful and make my job a lot easier but they become my friends. At the end of every semester they leave. And so it is that Kenny and Sarah have completed their internships and are off to do great things. I would be happy to keep them both but as someone who interned for almost 8 months you realize that a semester at a time is about all you can stand. I think I would have been much more upset if the 49ers hadn't won last night. They did and it felt so good to being cheering and yelling about an exciting 49ers game.

Just In Case

Image
The other day I walked over to my desk at work and found this. With all that has been going on here on "The Hill" it never hurts to be prepared. Thanks Kenny.

Sleepy Roommates

Image
I'm not sure what I was doing the other night but I walked into the living room to find the following scene. I laughed very hard and had to take a picture. They were all tuckered out from a long day.

California Dreaming

Image
I have been very bad at updating the blog lately. Between my trip home for the month, Josh's wedding, the election and my favorite teams actually winning consistently, I have more than enough to post about. My trip was great. I had a fantastic time spending the weekends in Whittier. I finally made it home for a Halloween and the kids had a great time. The wedding was amazing and I was honored to give the toast at the reception.
My boss won his race and the victory party at the Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego was awesome. I did miss Washington DC and am glad to be back. It is however off to Texas for me tommorrow. I'll be spending Thanksgiving down there and it should be a lot of fun.

Semper Fi

Image
Yesterday, I accompanied the Congressman and Don from our District Office out to Camp Pendleton. I can’t recall ever visiting there before. We were guests at a special ceremony for Marine Units that were changing status. It was a very powerful story. Don mentioned that at a place like Pendleton you never have to look far to find a hero. How true that is. A group of Marines spoke to the Congressman about some of their experiences in the Middle East. After the ceremony there was a reception. They had a display table with a lot of great things to check out. Don took this picture of me and the Machine Gun. I told the people in the office that I will use this picture to keep the interns in line.

Back in Cali

Image
I made my triumphant return to California a few days ago. I will end up spending almost an entire month working out in the District Office. I have had a great time working in Vista and seeing lots of old friends. The weather has been all but perfect and it only solidified my desire to make a quasi-permanent return to Southern California.

Flat Stanley

Image
When I came home from work on Wednesday there was an envelope adressed to Uncle Peter. Inside was Flat Stanley. Haydan's class is sending out this little guy across the country to take pictures at interesting and exciting places. I took Flat Stanley all around Capitol Hill. With the help of Kenny my intern I took pictures with Flat Stanley in front of the Capitol, inside the Rotunda, and on the steps of the Supreme Court. I always tell people that of all the things I am in life, I am most proud of being Uncle Peter.

Apple Picking

Image
I like to keep my postings pretty short. It was Conference weekend and apparently it is a tradition for people in the Ward to go apple picking the morning before conference. So I went and it was pretty fun. I only bought four apples because I am not much of an apple guy. I did get some wondeful advice from Uta the orchard lady.

Friday!

Image
It's Friday. Needless to say I am pumped about the Cougar Victory last night over TCU. I'm looking forward to a weekend of General Conference and football.

Back From Boston

Image I was in Boston over the weekend for the BYU-BC game. Although the Cougars lost a heartbreaker I had an fantastic weekend and was impressed by Boston thoroughly. I heard from several people that I was on TV.

I drove with the Boss to the Airport and got to drive his cool Lexus home. I am especially fond of the GPS!

Updated

Image
Inspired by my friend Seth I am updating my Blog. I had a cool weekend in New York City. I was content to leave the city with two Angel victories. I went to the game on Friday and Saturday Night. Vlad hit a home run on Friday night. I ate at a cool Dominican restaurant on Saturday Night and dessert at a Chinese place. Good times and good laughs were shared by all.
