Kids say the funniest things

Some of the things the girls are saying;
Faye says, "I want My Daddy." I am just Mommy, but Daddy is "My Daddy."
The girls and I stumbled across a daddy long legs today, shortly after Maddie referred to him as, "Daddy's feet."
Maddie was in time out and started making herself laugh, Faye looked at her and said, "it's not a joke, Maddie."
David was tickling Faye and when she had had enough she said, "no mam, Daddy."
At the Aquarium there is a HUGE model of a Narwhal, Maddie was a bit scared of it the first time she saw it and I tried to assure her by telling her it was not real, it is pretend, she tells people, "narwhal at the aquarium, it's not pretend."
Maddie has heard the story of her broken arm tons and sometimes at the end of the day she will say, "sit on Daddy's shoulders, lean back and cast," and point to her cast.
Both girls now know our real names (Tina and David) and when they are feeling particularly silly will call us by those names and laugh.
A local coffee shop has a huge rainbow on one side of the building and the girls like to go and point out the colors. The other day we were there and Faye named them all perfectly, Maddie started correctly with red and then said, "2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, peach." Peach is the color of the wall.

Maddie's tough week

Maddie had a really tough week that started with a fall resulting in a scratch and goose egg on her forehead and ended with a broken arm. On Wednesday night she and Faye went to neighbors while I attended a board meeting down the street. While there, she stood in a chair, tipped it over and landed her forehead on a shelf. I rushed home as soon as I got the call and comforted her. Other than visible signs, she was her happy self. We checked on her all night, sneaking in her room with a flashlight. She continued to be herself. Then on Saturday in Whistler she was catching a ride on her Daddy's shoulders. She whipped herself back and Daddy placed her on the ground where she landed softly on her feet, but unfortunately not without a broken arm. We waited 24 hrs to take her to the hospital as she really wasn't making a fuss about it, but continued to use her left arm less and less and complained that it hurt while holding things. So, on Sunday morning we took her to the Whistler hospital. They see several breaks daily thanks to the bike park (we arrived shortly before the bike park opened and while there saw 3 guys come in...2 broken arms and one broken leg). She got x-rays that confirmed a fracture on her left arm between her wrist and elbow. So, we went to the cast room where she picked out a pink cast. She was a trooper and still is, happy and as normal as ever. Her forehead is healing, but has turned into 2 black eyes and along with her cast, she looks like a bruiser. She truly is a tough girl. I did not like being in the hospital for her and seeing her get x-rays and a cast. Oh my sweet baby. We are thinking about buying the girls helmets to wear during the day...not really, but don't think the thought didn't cross my mind. She should be out of the cast in 10days with a fully healed arm and hopefully the shiners are gone, too! Image Image

Whistler Weekend

We spent the past weekend in Whistler staying with our friends, Sam and Kristy and their super sweet and gentle dogs, Ruby and Solomon. We had an awesome time, their house is amazing and Kristy is an amazing cook, she treated us to many fabulous meals. The girls were at home the minute they walked in. The girls loved seeing the mountains and parachutes. But mostly, Ruby and Solomon. It was nice to put the kids to bed and head downstairs and hang out with Sam and Kristy enjoying great food, company and wine, we hope to be back very soon! Image Image

A Visit from Grammy & Pawpaw

Thanks Grammy and Paw paw for a wonderful visit. The minute they arrived the girls knew they were pretty special and jumped into their arms, well Faye into Paw paw's and Maddie into Grammy's. Faye said, "Paw paw is for Faye and Grammy is for Maddie." The visit went by way too fast, but we did do a lot with my parents. We took them curling, cold, but very fun sport. We visited many parks and the girls performed Ring Around the Rosie...we all fall down! We ate a lot of wonderful meals together, including sushi with 8 adults and 5 kids under 4, it was a blast! We took Mom and Dad to Temple for Baby Sholom and we started off with introductions around the room, your name, your child or children's names and what you are thankful for as the theme was Sukkat, thanksgiving. Mom went before I did and introduced herself and then me her 33 year old daughter (you're so cute Momma). While my parents were introducing themselves, Faye and Maddie, as if on cue, ran and jumped into their laps, so sweet. I got teary eyed, which isn't hard for me these days! We also all went into a Sukkah, first for all of us. Our temple and the people there are so great and welcoming to the gentile woman that I am. I have so much to be thankful for and love to see my children with my parents (and with David's, too). Grandparents are so very special. Thanks for another epic visit!
