Spring Break and Pesach

The girls had 2 weeks off for Spring Break/ Passover and David took some time off work.  It was wonderful.  We went to bed late, woke up late and had such nice relaxing days.  The best part of our break was visiting Uncle Philip, Aunt Sarah, Steven and Lawson!  We had such a lovely time with you and miss you so much already, thank you!!!

Silly uncle Philip riding bikes in the back yard, the girls had so much fun with him.  He even took them one morning  to the corner coffee shop, they could not get enough of him!

We did lots of bike riding (not just in his yard) on our visit.

Maddie on the beach, should have kept her in this helmet the entire time  (should have Maddie in a helmet ALL the time). She ended up getting 4 stitches this trip.

Passover at Aunt Sarah's with Steven and Lawson, the kids are looking for the Afikomen  (matzah) that Uncle Philip hid.

We hid the Afikomen all night, it was quite enjoyable.

Still looking...they did eventually find it.  It got smaller and smaller throughout the night...

Dorothy II

Dorothy II was adopted the day after we lost our first Dorothy.  She is great and the girls LOVE her. They take turns feeding her and help clean her bowl.  They also sit in front of her almost every morning and eat breakfast with her and talk to her, it is quite adorable.

Dorothy

This is a tragic tale of our family’s first pet.  The girls have been asking for a dog for over a year now and we’ve been putting it off.  We’ve walked dogs from the pound, researched online and taken friends’ dogs for babysitting. We haven’t found our dog and frankly weren’t ready to commit.  So when we visited Aunt Sarah, Lawson, Steven and their beautiful pet fish George, we thought maybe that was a good first step.  So when we got back to Vancouver we told the girls we would buy a pet fish and they were so excited.

We finally did it tonight, from the pet store down the street.  We went in, looked at fish and settled on a nice, easy to handle, small beta fish.  We picked out its bowl, some rocks and a plant to swim around.  The girls named her Dorothy and talked about her all the way home.  Faye wanted Dorothy to watch her buckle her car seat. Maddie put on her Cinderella dress as soon as we got home so Dorothy could see it.  They both wanted to feed her and couldn’t wait to help her get settled in her new home.

Tina helped Maddie wash Dorothy’s new bowl, the rocks and the plant.  Faye helped fill the bowl and treat the water.  Then dad came it to make the transfer from the plastic bag to the bowl.  Oh no, we forgot to buy a net; what to do?  I had a plan, but needless to say, fish wrangling is not my forte and in the process of getting Dorothy settled into her new home – under the watchful eye of my two, three-year-old daughters – I dropped Dorothy down the sink drain never to be seen again…

Where is Dorothy daddy?  Why did Dorothy go down the drain daddy?  Does Dorothy have friends down there daddy?  Is Dorothy really in the drain daddy?  Why is mommy so upset?

The best is when Maddie said, can we get another fish and name her SueSue and Faye said noooo, how about we name her . . . net!
