So tired after our shopping trip at Taka.. Janine slept for almost 2 hrs.

She enjoys her tummy time right after she woke up.

Janine is Teething!!!

Janine now knows how to pat, smile and kiss mirror images, and loves looking at herself and will always giggles when she sees herself in the mirror. She will make her feelings known by pushing away something she doesn’t want, and will stop crying and become quiet when we talk to her.

She will very clearly let you know if she likes or dislikes a certain food. She is sometimes scared of strangers and fears being separated from us, becoming clingy if we try to leave her. She doesn’t like being confined to a crib or playpen, and wants the space to explore and move. She enjoys the company of other children but won’t yet play with them because she is more interested in her own activities. Hands of other child will usually ends up in her mouth :)

She may crawl using either her hands and knees or hands and feet. She may also be able to crawl while carrying an object in one hand. She can stand by leaning against something like furniture but may need help to sit down again. When she is held standing, she can put one foot infront of the other in an attempt to walk, and she may be able to pull herself up by reaching for furniture to help her. She can sit on her own without support and places one leg stretched out while the other is flexed at the knee and tucked in towards her body. At times she sits in her mermaid style hehehhee. She can lean forwards and sideways without falling over. She is aware of the relationship between her body and movements, and those made by others. She combines several new skills together to complete a task.

To My Dear Husband

I'm really gald to find out that he had put in so much effort in taking care of Janine.

Motor Skills developments for Janine aside, he has also learnt to clear Janine diaper (w poo poo) he used to shun whenever he smells poo poo... but now he helped changed them.

I know it's physically tiring to bring Janine back every evening from amk to jw. But because I wanted it so much, he gave in.

Every morning, he will drop Janine at amk before he start his day of work. That also means he have to help change her diapers or even a fresh set of apparel before he sets off. At times, he might even need to feed her before the jounery.

I don't know how much I should thank him. Yesterday he even helped me with some housework. Wow, I felt so touched.

Janine is listening to her own sounds and those made by others, and may say “da” and/or “ma” followed by a “mee”. She says several sounds in one breath and tries to imitate sounds and their sequence. She starts new conversations, anticipates repetition and may say repeat word after you have spoken it to her. Vowels and consonants are used randomly but she speaks using clear single syllables with actions, and may use double syllables. Her cries have changed and she uses low and high pitches, as well as a new nasal sound. She begins to understand the meaning of “No” and she responds with understanding as you talk, especially if you associate your speech with actions. She enjoys making noises, blowing air through her mouth while quickly flapping her lips (blowing raspberries) and uses her mouth in new ways to generate sounds.

She is now very good control over her body. She can bearher weight on one hand when lying on her tummy, and when you hold her she can take her weight on straight hips and legs and bounce up and down. She will help pull herself up and can stand while being supported. She can roll back and forth from her tummy to her back, and will tuck her knees up as if to crawl, rocking backwards and forwards on her knees (and crawling backwards :P). She sits unsupported which is great as her hands are free to play and reach for objects. She may be ableto get herself into the sitting position unaided. She uses touch to distinguish between the textures of objects and enjoys a variety of different tactile sensations.

She uses her thumb and fingers to hold objects and will grasp using the palm of her hand. She will still overextend her fingers and grasping requires her full attention. She can hold two objects together simultaneously and coordinates her movements to bang them together to produce a noise.

She picks up objects, holding on to one while reaching for another, and is less likely to drop them. She can feed herself but much of her food will end up all over her face, hands and even her hair. She distinguishes between near and far objects and the space in between and judges distances more accurately. She uses one object to get another like pulling the cloth under a toy to bring it closer to her.

She likes being with other babies and will reach out to touch and feel them. She may cry if I leave her with someone unfamiliar so make sure you give her time to adjust to being with strangers or people she doesn’t know well. She remembers the faces of people she sees frequently and she clearly recognizes the facial expressions that represent different emotions. She anticipates and loves activities like bath time and bedtime.
