Well, day two was pretty amazing. We made it all the way through the day with no accidents. The only issue we have had is that Bug manages to pee over or around the splash guard in his potty regularly. I asked the wise women of Facebook for a solution to that problem and was given an embarrassingly obvious answer – point his penis down with a finger. So far he has not managed to do this successfully on his own(I’ve done it for him) but I’m sure he will get the hang of it. I’m also working on getting him to sit back further on the seat and then having him lean forward a little so it will point down naturally. I think with some repeated instruction we’ll have that problem solved in about a week.
Yesterday we gave out some prizes and treats for potty use but I’ve only given out a small prize(a bouncy ball) for poop today. The rest of the time I have just bribed them to get them to go – no breakfast until you go pee, no park until you go pee. Did I say park? Yes I did! We ventured out of the house today without diapers! They didn’t poop or pee in their pants or in the car while we were out!
I was starting to go stir crazy from being in the house for two days in a row. Although we spend a little time in the back yard yesterday it wasn’t enough, we all needed some time away from the house. I decided to take them to the park that is about 5 blocks from my house and we took the car rather than the stroller for the sake of expediency. I made sure each of them peed right before we left and I brought our Pottete, wipes and towels, all of which are going to become permanent fixtures in our car. The kids had a great time at the park and each of the kids peed in the pottete once while we were there. We even took the long way home so mama could grab a grown up treat at the drive thru coffee shop, after all, mama deserves some potty training treats too.
Unfortunately Button peed on the floor twice in a row after we came home. She’d just been sitting on the potty right before one of the incidents so I think she was probably just tired but accidents are to be expected. She also missed the mark as she was pouring her potty bowl into the toilet and dumped the whole thing out onto herself and the floor. We have used a lot of paper towels today. Let’s hope the post nap part of the day goes more smoothly.
All in all its been a great day in the land of diaper free!
(I also wanted to mention, for anyone who has potty training in their future, that I took the kids to the park in shoes that could get wet – Button in a pair of plastic clogs and Bug in a pair of water shoes – that way if there was an accident, they wouldn’t be filling their good shoes up with pee)

Nicely done! Way to go! We did potty training boot camp last Feb and it was great. We skipped the undies in lieu of total pants-free days and it definitely worked better for us. By the end of day 3 we went out in the evening with pants on and no accidents. The past six months have been interesting (peed in the middle of a crowd at a baby birthday party, poops regularly on her little potty on the street corner, ran around pants-free at my bro’s house the second weekend of training) but mostly successful and definitely worth the work. I see other kids in diapers now and I just can’t imagine it anymore. It’s great!
Great job and yes, you deserved a treat too!
